Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

You would think I would know this, but in 13 years of owning BWV, I've only had garden/pool view once, and it was a Village Green room. Do any of the rooms with this view have a view of ToT??

Thanks!

I know people have posted definitely yes, but I couldn't tell you which specific area to request to have that view. I would think some of the rooms along the canal would have that, along with those down by the villas quiet pool, I would think. Hopefully someone who has had it can give more details!

We had a view of TOT before. We were on the top floor facing HS in the quiet pool area. It was beautiful.

We're back from our Disney/Universal vacation. Our Disney stay was at BWI. We were in room 4287. We requested upper floor, close to lobby. This room we got definitely fit the bill, but I personally think the location request was a mistake on my part. I think BWI's doors are made of paper...there was A LOT of noise from the hallway. Also, we were in a long stretch of rooms that were out of service because they were being painted. I thought this would be awesome since we didn't have any neighbors...until we were woken up to the noise of sanding early in the morning. The room that connected to ours was being painted, and at one point the painter locked himself out of the room, so he came to our room to try to get in through the connecting door. The room was bordered on the other side by some sort of service area, and there were CMs in there talking loudly at all hours. The room also seemed really tiny and like it lacked storage. The view overlooked the roof to the resort entry, so it was non-existent.

We also had a few snafus. Our flight got in late (a little before 11:30) and we sat on DME for a long time before a huge school group loaded and we took off. We finally got to BWI after 1 a.m. I'd never received a text with our room number, so we had to check in in person. The front desk CM said I didn't put my credit card info in when I checked in online (even though I know I did...I checked it twice) and they also said they didn't have our email on file, though we received several emails from Disney about our stay prior to the stay, so I have no idea what that was about. Then the stroller we rented from an offsite company wasn't there (Kingdom claimed they had GPS proof it had been delivered; BWI said they didn't have it), so our arrival at the park the next morning was delayed while we dealt with that. Overall, it was a pretty disappointing stay, though my 5 year old loved the pool and being able to walk to DHS (this was a SWW trip) was priceless.

A couple of years ago, we had a BWI room in which I could hear a service elevator going up and down all night long. I could not sleep in that room. (I hate wearing earplugs, but tried those over my white noise app to no avail.) I went to the front desk by 6:00 in the morning and asked that we be moved to a different room that wasn't so loud. The CM didn't understand how the noise could be a problem in that room, but I re-explained to the supervisor and also offered to let them sleep (or not) in the room so they could experience the auditory thrill. They moved us to a different room down the hall and that room was a huge improvement.

I suggest to anyone who found their room to be disturbingly loud: ask for a new room. Not sure how long your stay was, but the noises you experienced during the day isn't something you should have to put up with.

I would have requested to move, but we were only there 3 nights so it didn't seem worth the hassle. We didn't get to the resort until 1:30 in the morning, and that first morning was our only sleep in day since we'd arrived so late. The other two mornings we were up early to get over to SWW at DHS and for a pre-opening ADR at BOG. The first morning was when we were woken up by the work in the next room and then that night we went to bed early(ish) and were woken up by people being loud in the hallways as they returned from the parks. Then the next day, nap time was interrupted by the loud talking next door. We use white noise and that didn't help at all.

OH, and I remember wondering about the thermostats at BWI before our trip. I was afraid that they'd have the motion detectors and we'd be too hot at night. Well, that wasn't an issue...our room had an old school thermostat (with no markings to indicate how to make it warmer) and we were freezing while in the room. So I'm not sure if they're replacing those just as they die out and it's not part of the refurb work. We did finally figure out that to make the room tolerably cool (rather than ice cold) that we had to push the lever all the way to the top.

hi guys...sorry if I missed this but was wondering what the latest is on the refurb they are doing in the CL lounge?
We are headed in October for our first F&W fest! Just curious about what they are doing in there!
Thanks!!

Kook-can you put us down for July 21st-July 30th 2016 for the Boardwalk. We just found out we are being relocated this trip due to a Disney corporate function so we will be heading to the Polynesian in 9 days. I am excited to try something new but still sad I won't be "home." I have heard good things about Club Level there so I am keeping a positive outlook:sunny:
I'll put you down for 2016. So how do you feel about the relocation from Epcot to MK? Did they give you resort choices? Are you LV or TPV? The reason I ask is that the Hawaii building's GV rooms face the Quiet pool which is under construction or at least was supposed to be closed very soon.

Well after a lot of changing resorts and dates we are all set for July.

Kook...please add me for 7/26-7/30 BWI. We will be at POR for 4 nights before that. Can't wait!:yay:

Congratulations on booking BWI and I'll log your dates:)

Got to do online check-in last night for our first 9 nights of our Wedding/Honeymoon trip at BWI. So excited!!! Also got to book the first two weeks of FP+ (I guess they only load two weeks out) I can't wait to be back in the World!!!

So exciting!!!

A quick update of the BWI...

Our first time here and family giving me grief about switching from the Beach Club, though the verdict is still out, they think it was a good switch so far. We are on club level here. They are doing a fair amount of "work" on numerous rooms on each hallway of the CL floor. It seems to be painting but many workers around the floor during the day yesterday. It also seems like the suites on this floor are getting more work as their was more "stuff" outside their doors and sounded like more activity going in there.

When we returned after midnight last night- some lobby level floors were getting cleaned. One worker was down on his knees near the elevators with small scissors trimming the carpet! What attention to detail to keep the place looking spiffy.

CL lounge has not been too crowded and the CMs have been very nice.

Room is great - we have one facing the quiet pool- though it does have a smaller balcony with only one chair. So if you like a larger balcony, you may want to put that as a room request. There doesn't seem to be many this size on the CL floor- it is like what the Beach Club calls a dormer balcony. It does face away from the sun in the AM, which is nice- it would be hot facing the sun and I wouldn't be able to sit on it at this time when I am typing this.

Had a great day. Did dinner at Garden Grill, as this is a tradition with us. Headed over to MK via monorail to catch some first day FP. Saw Wishers from behind the castle, which was a new experience- not as good as from the front of course but not bad and a heck of a lot less crowded. Also, saw the late night electric parade- my opinion, the best time to see it because the crowds are way down- our fav viewing spot is at the Diamond Horseshoe.

If anyone has any burning questions, I would be happy to try to help answer.

Off to AK!

Thank you for posting about your stay:). It's nice to have Disney traditions and GG must be a great way to start your vacation with all those great characters. What CL lounge construction have you noticed or has it not started yet?

I think we will be staying at the Boardwalk when we head to Florida for our wedding in January. I can't wait to dive into all of the information in this thread!

Welcome and congratulations on your upcoming marriage! Are you getting married at WDW?

Hey has anyone stayed in one of the Outer Bldg - Garden Room - Club Level Access (cottages). I'm interested to hear what your experience was like.
Bumping your question. Some of the cottages have different balconies. The GARDEN COTTAGE chapter of the thread has all the details. The cottages aren't the most convenient to the CL lounge which is sort of located behind the cottages and up on the 4th floor.

Thank you for reporting about your trip. Your information will help others to make more informed decisions about room location requests.

Bumping your question. Maybe PittPantherfan will have an update on the lounge. They did comment on painting that was being done, but those were rooms.

I will ask a CM on CL to see if they know anything about the construction. One this morning was complaining a bit that they were going to paint again in the doorway to the lounge. She said they just did it. The painting and wall papering going on the 4th floor is pretty wide spread. I talked to one of the painters and he said they never leave. He said, as they work their way through projects, they seem to have to start over again. I guess it is all about keeping it looking nice.

We stayed over Memorial week in room 3058. It was not a far walk from the hotel, but quiet (thankfully as that was my only request!) The ice machine was right next door, but apparently they insulated it well, because I never once heard anyone using it!

We could see the smoke and some light from the Epcot fireworks - and definitely the noise - but a tree blocked most of the view. We could see the parking lot from our room.

Didn't matter to us as we were only in the room for sleeping and bathing really!

The red mark shows where our room was:

(picture came from TouringPlans - I highly recommend using their site!) I also wish more people would share their views there!

I would assume on floors 3 & 4 room even numbered rooms from X100-X118 would see Tower of Terror.

We never heard noise at the BC in our 2 stays there. I have been struck a bit about the noise that comes through the connecting door to the adjoining room here at the BWI. Unfortunately, there are a few screamers in that room- and they are not toddlers or babies, more like teenagers carrying on. I almost knocked on their door the other night but they finally did stop. I was thinking that I would add this to the my room request perhaps in the future. I am not sure if all rooms are adjoining or not. We have not heard noise from the hallway but we are near the end of the hallway, I guess you trade the longer walk for less foot traffic and less noise. Overall, have the our area of the resort to be fairly quiet.

Yes Pete mentioned clear back last summer when we were there in July he was going to be starting to wind down to retirement. We are going to miss him.
I have had several interactions with Pete, he is a very nice man and does a great job. He said he was 78. He is a wealth of info.

I think we are totally sold on the BWI. Our stay has been very comfortable. Great Mousekeeping. Love the location. We moved from valet to self parking. Hubby said the self park is 1/8 of a mile and there was ample space when he parked.

We like having the Boardwalk for snacks, etc. We have had rain 2 evenings here and put a kink in our plans so we improvised a little for dinner. We had a decent pizza at the Pizza Window and grabbed a grilled chicken salad from the Bakery for a quick dinner. Last night I splurged(we are not on the dining plan) on a Lobster Roll at the Bakery and found it very good.

The transportation has been decent. It is a bit of a bummer that the BWI is the first in the line of pickups on the way to DHS and the last drop off. Nice to get off at the Swan/dolphin and do the short walk to the BWI instead of staying on the boat. Hubby has tendonitis in his ankle, if it wasn't for that, I would probably consider walking to and from DHS.

The buses have not been bad. There was a slew of people waiting for MK yesterday - thankfully, 2 buses showed at the same time. On the way to MK we stopped at S/D, Yacht, and the Beach before heading to the park. Just a word to everyone with strollers- be ready to get on the bus, have your stuff out of the stroller and the stroller ready to be folded. We waited quite a bit for someone to get everything out of the sides, the under side, cup holder, etc., the blankets, stuffed animals and the shade umbrella off, then try to get on the bus with the stroller not folded after being told to fold it. Bus driver had to make them fold it and they couldn't figure it out-maybe a rented one. Stressful moment for them. If you can't get it together, minimize your stress and let the bus go and wait for the next. I know it's a struggle - been there and done it with 3 kids, but it can be done efficiently if prepared. You can put the strollers on "as is"on the monorail, so that makes it easier when transporting on that.

The FP+ scene as taken a little getting used to from previous. They are nice to have but...
The kiosk lines that we have seen are very long, we have not gotten our 4th one on the same day yet. I was going to try to do it today but I haven't. We counted at Buzz Lightyear yesterday, for every 2 standby riders admitted, 50 FP riders were admitted. I find that we are a little too stressed over the FP- everyone asks me numerous times as to when our FPs are and worrying that we are going to miss them. For some reason today, we had the LMA stunt show at DHS (I think I couldn't get anything else that suited), I didn't look closely at the time window for this. We got there for the 1:20 show at 1:13, and was told the FP entry was over. I thought we had until the start of the show but the window was 1:00 to 1:10- tight, and the CM was not too friendly about it. Not sure what this FP was supposed to get us, preferred seating? Not sure, but advise not to pick this one if you can. Also the lines have been long when reporting up to FP entry- like BTMR extending to the area in front of the big drop of Splash Mountain. Not sure if people are struggling with their bands or what. Usually only 2 scanners at each entry. When we got to the scanners for BTMR, we were told to scan only one from our party.

Also have found that the posted wait times have been off more than previous trips. 4 times it was 30 min longer than posted. I also use the Lines app- that has been pretty reliable.

Ride breakdowns have been happening too for us- BTMR, Star Tours, Buzz Lightyear

Had a peaceful time on the balcony typing this- heading back over to DHS to 50s Prime Time for dinner.

Any questions or need for pics, let me know!

:rolleyes1Kook-we do have a lagoon view. I was and still am a little disappointed. It sucks we make plans so far ahead of time then a week before our trip we get moved because management decides it will be board members only on club level while we are there then the rest of the resort is full. We have stayed at the BW every year since 2002 except our second trip but if you can't change it don't worry about it. It will be a good exercise for me a compulsive planner right??

It will be fine sfbank! The Polynesian was our absolute favorite hotel and the club (concierge) level service was always wonderful during our stays. While we have stayed at most of the other deluxe hotels (the Contemporary holds no interest for us) and now EPCOT resorts tend to be home; the Polynesian will always have our hearts! We have many, many years of fond memories staying there with our children who are now grown. The only reason we haven't been back is we spend most of our time at EPCOT and it makes sense to be at the back gate. A trip isn't complete unless we pop by for a drink and a stroll.

We will return one day to CL at Polynesian--maybe when there are grandchildren or a special anniversary. I hope you appreciate it as much as we do. :flower1::flower3:

Call and have that request added to your reservation. This can be done any time from the day you book up until 5-6 days out.
I know how to request it, I was just wondering what wording to use if I request it :-)
