Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

I'm pretty sure I was on CL floor during our day this month (4th floor) even though I didn't stay in a CL room, and it took just a couple of minutes to get to the clown pool. Took the elevator to the lobby level, cut through the lobby and outside, down the stairs, and then there's a crossover to the clown pool. I don't think the crossovers are represented on the maps, but they're right by the fitness center.

ETA: If you look at the map on the first post, there is a crossover to the clown pool right by the yellow V on the map.

Thank you!!

Hey everyone! We just checked in yesterday for 6 nights at BWV. We got a newly renovated 1 br villa on the 5th floor. It is a long hike to the lobby and bus stop, but the beautiful room and view of the swan/dolphin/dhs makes up for it! When I get my pictures from the trip uploaded, I will post pics of the renovated room for you all! :) We had an awesome day at Epcot and MK and can't wait to see what memories are made the rest of the week!!

I've never stayed at the BWI before, and I would like to ask a few questions.

1) Are all the regular CL rooms located on the same floor as the lounge (and in a key-coded area?)
2) Could we be placed really far from the lounge?
3) How far is it from the CL lounge to the clown slide pool? (Looking at the map, it seems far from the BWI rooms in general)

Just returned so will try to get the answers correct, I'm sure Kook can add
1)CL rooms are on the 4th floor- there a few "just outside" the innkeepers door. I saw them and they are in a little nook that really is just outside the door. The 4th floor is not exclusively the CL, like the Beach Club. The cottages are on the ground level and I think I read that deluxe rooms are not on the 4th but not sure about that.
2) I think really far is a relative term for everyone- We were one of the farthest rooms from the lounge but we did not feel it was far. I counted 10 rooms on the right as we walked from the lounge, then you make a slight turn to another short hall and that is where an ice and vending room is and CM access rooms. We were the 3rd or 4th room on the final hall- a few more rooms were beyond ours. But it was nice to be down that hall because there was not much foot traffic.
3) The map does make it seem really spread out but as I posted a day or so ago, we did not find it distant- not any worse then getting to SAB from our CL at BC. The whole resort did not seem as big as a expected after studying the map while were planning.

I am sure you can make a room request if you want to be close to the lounge because there are certainly rooms very near but a lot of activity by those rooms with everyone coming and going.

Happy to answer anything else while the trip is fresh in my mind!

PittPantherFan,

Thank you so much for your quick and helpful answer! I really appreciate it! :)

Glad you had a great trip! Loved the view from your balcony. When you say small, could 2 adults sit? It's just me & hubby, and we like to have coffee on the balcony in the a.m., I usually sit out in the afternoon while he naps, and then we usually sit out before bed. Last time at the BWI, we had one of the recessed balconies so the view was cut off on both sides. Trying to avoid this time.

It was a small recessed balcony with only one chair, so made it awkward when more than one on the balcony, but we were a party of 5.

2 adults could sit, but probably better for one while the other is napping.

While fresh in my mind, I wanted to mention my experience with room requests. About 4 months ago, I emailed IPO for the club level and requested Boardwalk View. They replied that it was noted on my reservation. Then 30 or so days before the trip, I did online check in and requested Boardwalk View AND close to elevators. Shortly after that, wdwkook replied to a comment here that no club level room was close to the elevator. I tried to modify my online checkin, but was not able to. When we arrived, we received a Boardwalk View room that was close to the lounge. So in my experience at least, the online checkin did not override my request with the IPO.

!

Definitely agree with this. I heard about the "long hallways" and terribly long walks to get around the Boardwalk Resort. But, I have been pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to get around and just how short the walks are compared with some of the other Disney resorts.

There are also 3 rooms that are CL located on the 3rd floor close to the stairs. DH & I were there from 5/16-5/23. Just a reminder to all when putting in your room requests. These are requests not a guarantee. A family from NY checked in and had requested 2 rooms with a BW view. After the CM checked the 4 of them in, they headed off to see their rooms. The next thing the Mom is back at the desk tapping her foot with disgust. The CM was with another guest and all she did was huff. When it was her turn, she rudely said to the CM this is not what we requested. We wanted a BW view. The CM politely tried to tell her that room views are a request unless you pay for a BW view. She would not hear of this. She said she had noted it on her reservation and called once a week to make sure it was noted. She was not going to pay all of this money to be facing a garden or a quiet pool. The CM tried to see if any BW rooms were available but due to construction they were limited. She was brought to 2 other rooms and was not satisfied. Later that afternoon that same CM was working the lobby concierge and saw this person now complaining to a Manager until she saw the CM who helped her upstairs. After 3 days of complaining, she got her wish.

Wow. I have always repeated back to any cast member that I understand that the request is just that, not a guarantee. I know the Boardwalk View was unlikely but thought better to request it than not, so we were very pleasantly surprised when we actually got it. I'm glad we did not witness any complaining guests while there. We arrived super early but had noted that I'd rather wait for our requests than have a room ready with early arrival. Our room was ready at 2:30, before their published check in time. While having a snack in the lounge, we did ask if it was ready before that, but also told them we knew we were early and without assuming it would be.

My only complaint all week was that our magic bands ended up not opening the room on our arrival day. They were able to fix all of ours in our party in about 10 minutes, but mine took another 30 minutes. I was told that it was something in the band and that they might have to get me another one. I was panicked at that point thinking I might lose all of my ADRs and Fast passes for the week. (I had only about 3 hours of sleep the night before so might not have been thinking clearly). They assured me that would not happen and it didn't, but they were able to fix my band. About 10 minutes later, Melanie called our room to give us a $100 credit for the inconvenience. Totally unexpected and I told her it was not necessary, but she said she felt bad about our trip starting off with that delay and wanted to make it right. The next day we had surprise cupcakes delivered to our room, and I think they were from her, too. We absolutely loved the Innkeepers Club and this certainly helped start off the week in a magical way.

Hi everyone! We had booked BWI for a party of 3 months ago...and months ago the BWI villas was not being refurbished. I know the main pool is on the villas side... is the construction noticeable? I know Disney is good with hiding it but can someone assure me it won't bother us on our vacation in late August?

My son and I are staying at BWI 9/11-9/15. It's my 45th birthday trip!! Can't think of a better place to spend it!!

This will be our second stay at BWI. I have a standard room book. Last time we did not like our location at all. What is the best way to put in room requests? At online check in or call? And who do I call? TIA

The refurbishment is to the rooms themselves. You'd not even be able to tell from the pool. We were just there and didn't notice.

See my response in quoted in post #1241, two posts above yours. There is a pass through from the BWI to the clown pool.

I would call Disney reservations and add your requests now. Just remember it's not guaranteed.

Thanks for the response. We paid for a BW view, but I am trying to avoid one of the recessed balconies. Hard to see from room maps which are which! Guess we'll hope for the best!
