Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

I will be staying at BWV, in a boardwalk view studio from July 24-Aug 11, this is my first stay at the Boardwalk. Does anybody know if your room is on the first floor can you exit through your patio to the Boardwalk, or do you have to exit through the hotel?

You cannot lock the slider door behind you if you go out through the patio, so you'll need to exit through the hallway.

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I will ask for a high floor if I am not able to make a quick exit through the patio.

With a Boardwalk view studio, ask for high floor far from elevators. The best view of Illuminations is furthest away. It's a long walk, but the view is worth it. We once had the last 1-bedroom on the top floor (I think room 5001). It was awesome!

I will do this! On this trip it will be myself and 4 teen girls, we are all very health, so we will ask to be far from the elevators so those who need to be close can have those rooms, but knowing that those rooms far from the elevators have an awesome view gives me further incentive to ask for thsee rooms.

What's the quality and speed of the wifi / internet at BWV these days?

Have a friend possibly coming with us this November and he may need to do some work (email, VPN to work systems, etc.).

DH and I stayed at BWI May 20-24. I had to connect to my office every day at least a few times. The connection through VPN was excellent in our room. I had a Surface, an iPad and an iPhone all connected at various times and was pleased with the speed, etc. Handled email, revised documents and e/filed with state agencies.

Please note that there are only two (2) Studios on the first floor with a Boardwalk view: rooms 1005 & 1007. They each connect to adjacent 1BRs (1003 and 1007) to make 2BR lockoff units.

In addition to what other's have posted about the patio door access (unable to lock on exit), please consider direct noise from the Boardwalk. The Boardwalk area is open until 2 AM. Some guests of the Boardwalk can be quite loud early in the morning or late into the night. Note that you would be close to the Atlantic Dance Hall ( 1:45 AM Tue-Sat) and Jellyrolls (2 AM) in one of these two rooms. Please consider a higher floor: 3, 4 or 5. Note: floor 2 is at the lobby level and one level above the actual boardwalk.

Special Note: Boardwalk view Studio rooms: 2029, 3029, 4029, 5029 don't allow a door-connect to a 1BR to make a 2BR lockoff unit.

Can someone tell me where some of the better standard view studios are located? I have been checking daily to see if any other view is available but so far nothing has opened up.
The last trip we stayed at BC with a standard view and it wasn't terrible, I could see Spaceship Earth but I also was right by a service road and that wasn't so great LOL

I like the studios that have a view of the villas quiet pool. You are on the path that leads to DHS and you just walk through Luna Park as a cut through to head to Epcot. Also, there is another door that will take you out front to go to the buses!

Those probably aren't in the standard view category though right?

We will be there the first week in September. We booked a standard view studio villa as well... I'll be watching to see what others recommend:)

For standard view, we prefer far from elevators. You can get a view of Illuminations out that way. I think if you request "across from bus stop" that could work. We've always just put "far from elevators, high floor".

Standard View (SV) rooms by definition do not have a Boardwalk, Pool/Garden view. They often have a view of roof-areas, parking areas or a partial obstructed view. Most SV rooms are in the South wing and many have a view of the parking / entrance portico. Higher floor rooms may have a partial view of Epcot or HS. There are a couple that have great access to a lower large open lawn space near the front entrance portico but can be noisy (car, bus, lawnmower): 1097, 1099, 1107, 1111, and 1113. It would always help to know if you want a long walk or close to the elevators or ground floor/upper floor. A good example of a quieter SV room that is far from the elevators and an upper floor is 4123 (was a King/pull-out sofa), and has a unique view of the bridge/water area at the entrance to the resort.

My personal favorite SV room is 5085 (was a Queen/pull-out sofa) and my favorite Pool/Garden view is 5086.

Note: Please don't request a specific room as your only request, if that specific room is not available the room-assigner(s) will not have a clue as to what you might be wanting. Requesting a building/floor or Compass direction helps. An example of a good location request would be: Boardwalk Villas South Building, Floor 3/4, SE-facing room. Example: room 4123.

Special Note: The lawnmower noise incident was only one morning and was after we were at MK until 2 AM for an EMH event.

Dave, thank you so much, your post is very helpful.
I called to see if any other views have opened up for my dates but none so far. She told me she could put a request for landscape view so I told her to go ahead. I'll most likely call back and give more details about our request, we don't want bottom floor and we don't mind being far from the elevator. Unfortunately I won't be checking in until midnight so hopefully I won't be stuck with the leftovers LOL

There can be benefits of a very late check-in: you might get an upgrade if all your confirmed category is already full. At WDW, it has happened to me only three times since 1982.

Once at the Contemporary to a suite on the 14th floor (room can't be mentioned but it was great (lots of pixie dust was involved in this one)), and once at the Boardwalk Villas, room 5086 which had a great view of the theme pool area. The last one was at the Boardwalk Inn, Inn Keepers Club Deluxe room 4227 with a boardwalk view.

Do you have an example of rooms numbers that are in the location you described?

There are about 5-6 of those Pool/Garden Studios per floor in the South building. An example of a good location request would be: Boardwalk Villas South Building, Floor 1/2/3/4, NW facing room. Example views: room(s) x106, x108 or x112 where x is the floor number that you might want.

Wow! You are good! thank you! I was going to reply that I wasn't sure of the room #'s and you had the exact information so helpful! :):thanks:
