Hi Everyone, i'm new to this website and love it already, lots of good infromation! I just booked a 1 week stay over thanksgiving for a 2BR Villa at the Boardwalk. I'm reading some reviews that the rooms are dated and not very nice, can someone set my mind at ease! Also, I just found out that there is no food court and my wife is upset...does this cause a inconvience for BWV guests, any advice? What do you do for a late night snack! We stayed at pop century last year and the family loved the atmosphere and the food court and now I feel like everyone is upset at me for booking the boardwalk. I got a good deal from a DVC friend of mine and I thought my family would be so excited to stay in a 2BR villa at a delux resort. Can someone please help me convience my family that this will be a good hotel. Any information from previous stays would be great, thanks!

Hi! Well I've never stayed at Pop before, however we stayed in BWV this past May, not having a food court was a bit inconvienent however there is the bakery and pizza place for snacks. I wouldn't say the rooms were outdated either. The whole feel of the Boardwalk area is awesome in my oinion and being able to walk to Epcot and DHS is another great perk. Some folks prefer values and some folks prefer deluxes, but in my oinion you made a fine choice with the BWV!

I have stayed at BWV and it was a little outdated but it was clean. The food choices are out of hotel really and it may seem like a hassle but I had no problem finding things to eat. Pizza by the slice and many items at bakery and along boardwalk area. The location is the best on Disney property in my opinion and the quiet pool is awesome if you need a break from kids. Pool slide is fun and you can walk to DS and Epcot easily. You will be fine there no worries.

I own DVC. With a 2 bedroom, you will have a full kitchen. We bring our own snacks, our own breakfast items, etc. If you don't have a car, I suggest you check out Garden Grocer's website and order stuff to be delivered.

Your kitchen will have a full size stove and refridgerator, dishwasher, toaster, microwave. We don't do full on cooking but we have delivered fruit, frozen waffles and syrup, bread and jelly for toast, frozen breakfast burritos/sandwiches, frozen pizzas, etc.

To have that full kitchen, separate living area, washer/dryer, I can live with a little wear and tear in the villas.

The BWVillas were completely renovated about three years ago. They still look like Gramma's beach front cottage at Atlantic City, not the the Hotel W on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. The cottage decor is what you get from most of the DVC resorts. You don't get duvets and high tech.

With Epcot so close and DHS so close and all the resorts around the lagoon, there are many places to choose to eat from. But with your full sized kitchen, you can make anything you like. None of the deluxe resorts have food courts. Some have smaller counter service areas or other dining options. So head for Publix and fill up your refrigerator with your favorite snacks.

With the BWV two bedroom villa, you'll actually have a one bedroom villa connected to a studio villa. All two bedrooms are lockoffs at BWV. So the second bedroom (one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa) will also have a small kitchenette. The one bedroom portion will have a king sized bed in the master bedroom and a queen sized sleeper sofa in the living room. Plus the full sized kitchen and stackable washer and dryer.

My family and I spent a night at bwv (2 br villa) before taking a Disney cruise in 09' anyone can correct me if I'm wrong since its been 3 years but the rooms although reported as being dated still fit the theme of the boardwalk which is themed around early Atlantic city boardwalks.

The only problem we encountered was the dishwasher turning on randomly but a quick call to maintance and it was quickly fixed.

One thing I would request is a room close to an elevator or door exiting to the boardwalk or pool. During our visit we had a long walk to a elevator must have taken 5 minutes to the nearest elevator or door.

In regards to a food court you have to remember that your staying in a villa with a full kitchen. Most people who are new to DVC resorts are unaware of the full kitchen they have at their disposal. To take advantage of this I would make a quick trip to a grocery store and stock up on breakfast items and snacks. Having breakfast in the room not only saves money but also frustration of getting up early to eat.

Hope this helps out your planning and hope you enjoy the BWV as much as I did :)

To us, the best thing about BWV is the location. Walking to Epcot & DHS can't be beat. The worst thing about BWV is the lack of QS food options. Yes, the Boardwalk Bakery is great but for every day.... eh... :confused3... JM2C

The walk over to BCV isn't bad at all & you can access their QS offerings as well as easy access to WS (UK & France, especially).

As long as you don't have the dining plan, you can always go over to Picabu at the Dolphin for counter service. We tend to keep snacks in the villa, and bring snacks back from the French bakery in Epcot. I like the BW Bakery sandwiches, too. Otherwise, we'll go into Big River Grill or ESPN Club for food and drinks.

As far as the villas, I think that the refresh a few years ago has them looking great. They aren't luxury suites, but definitely comfortable.

We LOVE staying in a 2bdr villa at BW. You can either order stuff from Garden Grocer to have in your fridge or you can buy some items from the general store. They have cereal and donuts and milk, beer and wine etc.

We ate quick things at the Boardwalk Bakery, pizza slices, DH got some sort of hearty snack thing at the food cart across from Seashore Sweets. Seashore Sweets has ice cream.

What type of things are you looking for? There is also the YC, BC and the Swan and Dolphin right there to find places to eat as well

As a pp stated, the villas were completely renovated about 3 years ago and are great. You will have a full kitchen so you can keep snacks in the room. We love having a quick breakfast in the morning and being able to have snacks and drinks (both non and alcholic) available so not having a food court is no big deal for us. You also have the bakery, sweet shop and small store available for snacks. Since you booked through a DVC member you will get housekeeping on the 4th day and the 7th day, unless you pay for extra days. You will also have a w/d so you don't have to pack as many clothes. You will read on here that people complain about how far some of the villas are from the elevators. We never found this to be a problem since we just took the nearest stairs and ended up by the pool or walkway to the studios. The location of the Epcot resorts can't be beat with easy access to two parks and the nightly activities. We have never stayed at Pop but we have been staying at the Boardwalk since it opened. I will admit that I am a deluxe girl all the way so I have no desire to stay anywhere else. You will not be disappointed - you will actually be spoiled by the end of the trip.

Also the Belle Vue Lounge is available for continental breakfast items.

...Since you booked through a DVC member you will get housekeeping on the 4th day and the 7th day, unless you pay for extra days. ...

Not quite. If the OP is staying seven nights or less, they will get trash and towel service (housekeeping empties the trash and swaps out the towels, plus refills your amenities like soap, shampoo, etc) on day four (day one is check in day). And that is all.

If they stay eight nights or more, they get a full cleaning on day four and trash and towel service on day 8.

You can pay for additional trash and towel service, you can purchase an extra towel pack (four bath towels, two hand towels and four face cloths until your next service day, then you need to order it again), or you can pay for extra full cleaning. But DVC members usually enjoy not having housekeeping coming in during the day. We make our own beds, put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher and run it when it is full or we are out of dishes, run the vacuum if we need it.

No daily housekeeping means you can come back from a morning at the parks and take a nap after lunch if you want. Or after a late night, you can sleep in.

Hi everyone, thank you so much for all your replies and great advice. I was reading all the replies to my wife tonight and she is now excited about the boardwalk! I love the idea of keeping breakfast foods and snacks in the full kitchen. Is garden grocery an online food store that delivers to your room, we will not have a car during our stay? Also, I wasn't sure what publix is? Thanks again everyone for all your help!

There are a couple of grocery services that you can use to shop for you ahead of time. They have a fee for doing the shopping and dropping your food off. Publix is a wonderful grocery chain on Florida (and I love to go there when we are in town - great bakery items).

You could rent a car for the day from the car rental company located in the Swan/Dolphin. Shouldn't be too expensive.

Garden Grocer or WeGoShop will deliver to your room. We have used WeGoShop and really liked them. We also have just gone shopping down in the General Store although I am sure there prices are higher, it was just more convient.

Publix is a grocery store chain just like you would have in your neighborhood, if you are not driiving, I would check out the delivery places.

We LOVE the Boardwalk area.

Excellent, I will check out Garden Grocer and WeGoShop! Thanks for the advice.

Actually they will deliver to bell services so you don't have to be there. They have a fridge and freezer so they can store your groceries until you arrive. When you're ready just call bell services and they will bring it to your room. :thumbsup2

We usually have an order waiting for us when we arrive... makes life so much easier! :goodvibes

You will LOVE BWV! Have a wonderful trip! pixiedust:

Thanks for the infromation about the bell desk. I think it would be a great idea to deliver the groceries right before arrival!

True, no food court, but there's plenty of places to eat and you can always stock your kitchen with snacks or even full meals. I've been an owner at Boardwalk for 12 years and the updates are almost constant. The comment about being "dated" may be because the theme of BWV is set in the 1940's. You'll love it.

Thanks deryan! Knowing your a 12 year Boardwalk owner maybe you can help answer another question. We have a Standard View Room, 2BR...any advice on how to get the best view out of the standards?
