Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

Just checked in at AOA.... Wow it's amazing!!! LK room looks awesome. Love the big blue pool. Had lunch at the restaurant... Very good food!!

How far of a walk from the Little Mermaid rooms to the buses. TIA!

My son and his girlfriend were in building 7 last year -- at the end closest to the Lion King section -- and it took them about 5 minutes to walk to the bus stops and main building. Keep in mind that was 2 adults leisurely walking from one of the closest room locations in that section. But even the farthest Little Mermaid room shouldn't be more than about an 8-10 minute walk for most adults. Add a little more time for aimlessly wandering children. :-)

Thank you so Much. This will be the first trip without a stroller since my youngest will be 7 but I am debating on taking an umbrella stroller!

Can you see any fireworks from the Nemo buildings? We'll be there in 10 days and my wife wanted the pool view, but if we could see any fireworks, would change our request to parking lot/LK view

Early August we stayed in bldg 8 in the LM room with a parking lot view. (I really don't care about views) and we could see both the Frozen fireworks at DHS and the Epcot ones. Was a nice perk.

Curious to know the price for 1 load in the washer + the dryer?

Do the laundry machines take quarters or credit cards?

Thanks

:)

$2 for a wash, $2 for a dry. It's the credit card machines. The machines were awesome, new models and worked fast!

and MeMom's photos are as AWESOME as she is!

You are too kind, my dear Nashville Disney friend. :goodvibes I think we'll be coming your way next Sunday. We're planning to eat at Johnny Rocket's. Not sure if you work or not, but I'm sure we'll stop by.

Currently sitting in my Cars suite room. Checked in yesterday and loving it. So far spent a little time at the big blue pool, but my kids like the less crowded Cozy Cone pool. Loved that mouse keeping knocked on our door yesterday and gave my kids a couple balloons someone had left. Simple thing, but made my kids day.

I'm normally not there on Sundays, but with it being a holiday no telling what I will be working! I should see the schedule some time in the next few days. You will have to tell me if you sat in the reading chair in the AK Suite! It looks like it is at a weird angle, and may not be comfortable for me to get up from.

Following because I'd like to know the same thing. We "requested" a top floor lakeview room in the Nemo section. I'd like to know if anyone has experience from this vantage point, or if they are better seen from the Gg bridge?

Thanks! :)

How far out do I dare wait to book a room at AoA? We are going for 10 nights next september (2015) - should I start booking soon? Thanks! :smickey:

You sure can go ahead and book now for next September if you like. I totally understand, I'm one of those people who wants to book as soon as we figure out when we are going :). We are going this September and I think I booked back in April. That was before the free dining promo came out, so if you are looking to take advantage of that you may need to look at past history as to when it's typically offered in Sept. So you don't have to shift your travel dates later down the road. If your travel dates happen to fall into the FD promo period you can ways call them and apply the promo to your existing reservation. ( I did and it was super easy). Of course we are always told free dining is not guaranteed to come out every year, but it has happened for the past few years without fail. Have fun planning! We planned a year in advance also and it killed me to wait until April to book! ;)

I'm at AOA now and our bounceback offer includes free dining from 8/20-10/2 we are soooo booking it now. Same trip next year even with our 2 year old turning three is going to be $1300 cheaper than this trip in which we paid for the dining plan!!!!

Did anyone get called today to get moved from NEMO during week of Sept 14-21 to Lion King or Cars?

I didn't. We arrive the 14th as well and checkout the 19th. I hope I get a call. I originally wanted to stay in Lion King.

I have been reading a lot on facebook of people pool hopping... I know - i know a Red light just went off somewhere alarming people i wrote pool hopping. :duck:
Trust me this isn't trying to start anything..

Does hopping happen a lot in AoA? I know the gate is locked. Yet i am sure a LOT of people want in on the big blue?? do they check bands often at the pools?

LEAVING NEXT week! :cool1: :hyper:

We booked way back in Feb for Oct. Mostly selected based on crowds and weather, but was hoping for Free Dining based on past history. So just wanted to point out that history doesn't guarantee Free Dining as this year there are 3 weeks in Oct where FD is not offered (including ours). We didn't budget based on assuming we'd get FD but it "would have" been a nice bonus.
But to add to the point...if you do book hoping for FD, also look at the resorts and suites (e.g. AoA suites are included...I don't think LM room is included in the deal).
And although we didn't get FD, we did get room only discount (which wasn't a ton of savings, but better than nothing)
Either way...you'll have a fantastic trip!
