Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

I think I am now between Nemo (for convenience) and Cars (outside area seems themed the best and rooms are a little "quieter" in terms of colors). Cars seems a little more "boyish," but since there are 3 guys and 2 girls and the guys have to go to 1900 PF and CRT, maybe we can give them that!

We originally had a Lion King room booked since it was neutral between our son and daughter and was told on here it was close to main building, but had to change to a Cars suite to get the fall room discount (which I don't quite get since they are both suites). My son used to be obsessed with Cars, so a few years ago, I would have paid the extra, but now am a bit worried as he is 'grown up' and Cars is out. :rolleyes1 Hoping when we tell them, he'll be ok with Cars (but am sure the fact that we are going to Disney will make up for it)

I originally had a nemo suite but had to change to cars in order to get our discount. After looking again at the suites I'm glad we are in cars. The nemo and LK suites are so "busy" I think it's over stimulating. Maybe in person they are different. I don't think it's too much more of a walk.

We had the same situation last summer -- started in Nemo and switched to Cars to get the discount. I thought the LK suites looked too "busy" as well. But when the kids found out I chose Cars over LK, they weren't happy. They thought the pictures of the Cars suites made them look like an old motel room. :confused3 So when we arrived at the resort, I checked if there were any Nemo suites available (knew it was a long shot but knew it would hurt to ask). There weren't. So then I told the CM that my kids weren't happy with my decision to book Cars and that they'd rather have a LK room....but that being close to the main building and bus stops was most important (we didn't care about the pool -- we only go there a few times during the week compared to going to the food court and bus stops a few times each day). We got a LK suite in bldg 10 that was literally steps away from the food court and bus stops and *way* closer to those things than the room we were assigned in Cars. When we first walked in the LK suite I thought I'd have a headache every day but really, once we were settled in and had our "stuff" in the room, it really didn't bother me at all. Even my 25 yo DS said the same thing -- that it looked much wilder in the pictures than it was in person.

We are checking into Nemo suite on Friday. Is there some sort of help available to unload luggage from my car? :confused3

24 more days to check into LION KING!!!! feels like forever since we started this adventure Now it's right around the corner!

Wanted to thank you who answered my silly questions! I am sure i will have more before the time comes and i can FINALLY tell my kids we are GOING!

We have 3 Disney trips planned over the next 2 months. The first trip I booked a Nemo suite and a Lion King suite for the second. Now our second trip plans have changed and we are staying at AKL. My daughter really wants to stay in a Lion King suite so I've tried for 2 weeks to change our stay at AoA to a Lion Ling suite but they are not available. CMs tell me to keep calling to see if one comes available.
My question is, if we end up in a Nemo suite, which building should I request? Same question for Lion King if we get lucky and get one.
I think I read some where that Lion King building 10 is a good location.

Both of the Nemo buildings are about the same distance from the food court and bus stops. Building 5 might be slightly closer to those things, but nothing significant. The longest distance from a Nemo room to the back door at Landscape of Flavors is about 200 yards, so no matter where you end up, it's a quick walk.

We were in Bldg. 10 of the Lion King section and our room was 2 doors from the end of the building closest to Animation Hall. It was literally less than 100 yards from our door to the back door of Landscape of Flavors. We loved the location.

Keep trying to see if something opens up in LK...you never know. The ironic thing is, there's probably some family staying in LK that would love to have your Nemo room and would happily switch! You can even ask at check-in to see if they have a room available in LK. We were supposed to be in a Cars suite (had to switch from Nemo since there were no discounts available for Nemo rooms) but at check-in we switched to LK. We had a much better location (for us) in LK than we were assigned in Cars.

Is there vending machines in the laundry area for soap? I'm hoping to do laundry one day, but not bringing soap with me.

Which buildings are the little mermaid rooms in?

Little Mermaid rooms are in buildings 7, 8 and 9. If you check out the first post in this thread, you will find a map of the resort that shows where each building is located. :)

I'm here now in building 10 Lion King section. I think it's a good location if you want to stay in the Lion King area. Although I have to say after a long day in the parks even walking to building 10 felt like a lot of walking to me. I can't even imagine walking over to the Little Mermaid section. Good Luck hope you are able to book the room you want.

Staying at Pop, but want to stop by AoA one night one my way back from DHS and have a bite to eat, and walk the bridge back to Pop. How late is AoA's food court open on a Friday night? :scratchin

Does anyone know if there is a freezer compartment in the fridge? And if so, do you know the size? We are staying in a LK suite and hoping to freeze some blue ice.

I don't know the answer, but if you want ice packs, bring some Ziploc bags and fill with ice from ice machine.

Anybody?

Funny you should ask! I just this minute got off the phone with someone in the "resorts back office" who told me the food court is open until midnight. However, I wouldn't be surprised to find some (or all) of the stations closed by then, but there's a lot of grab and go. If anybody knows what time they close down the tandoori line, I'd love to know that too!
