Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

in minutes...how far is it from the closest LM building to the bus stop? We'll have a 7 year old with us.

It depends on how fast you walk, but I would say 5-7

And it depends on your route. Some people like to walk around the sidewalk by the parking lot and some people like to walk back through the main building and through the Lion King section. My estimate is 7-10 minutes.

It also depends on where you are in the building. We were in the closest building (Tritan) but we were on the back side of the T just around the corner from the elevator which is near the center of the building.

I have stayed at POP multiple times, CBR twice, CSR twice, POR and AsMo and I have never had a walk that far. The first day it wasn't bad, but by day 3 I was driving the car back and forth to the main building/bus stop. I won't stay in LM unless I have access to a car. Maybe I'm just getting old but my backside was dragging especially in the evening.

We were there for 8 nights - we went up to the Nemo pool one time and the food court one evening (well actually it was after midnight so you could call it early early morning). We had the refillable mugs and filled them 3 times because I drove my dd's ECV up there to fill them or they would have went unfilled.

do the little mermaid rooms really sell out a lot of the time? we have one booked for August, the week before school starts, just wondering if anyone has been upgraded to a suite if they are booked in LM wings.

Yes they do! They are pretty hard to book. We were only staying in a LM room for 1 night before we moved over to AKL last June, but wee were upgraded at check in to a Cars suite.

Hi All! Myself, DH and DS (21 months at the time of the trip) will be staying at AoA from 5/10/14 to 5/16/14. Previously DH and I have stayed at Pop Century and POFQ. We will be staying in a Lion King room and are so excited! I think my DS will love AoA! Subscribing! :goodvibes

34 days until we leave for AOA!!!

We have a Nemo suite and I'm so excited!! Our luggage tags arrived today. I think that's a cue it's time to start packing! LOL

the price difference is half but I hate to think of ourselves falling all over each other for a week. I just hate the price of the suites, the seem outrageous! It's $1800!

Keep in mind that with a suite you're getting separate sleeping areas (including a private bedroom), 2 bathrooms, twice as much space, a kitchenette, etc. It's really like comparing apples and oranges to say that the price of a LM room is 1/2 the price of a suite. It is; but it's also half the space, a less convenient location within the resort, and fewer amenities in the room. Some families/groups do fine staying in a standard room and being a little squished for the week. For other families, all of that "togetherness" would ruin their vacation (my sister found that out the hard way).

What's the checkout procedure like? We made a last minute decision to fly instead of drive. So, instead of leaving early Saturday morning, our flight leaves late Friday night. We have 8:15am ADRs at Crystal Palace on Friday. Eeek. I'm a bit nervous about getting out of our room and over to MK on time. We'll have a rental car to MK. How difficult is it to get our bags to the hotel lobby?

ETA: I should clarify that even though we have rental car, my kids and I are using the Disney bus to get back to the airport that night. With bags and strollers needed for a family of 5, we appreciate the help that Disney is offering with taking care of our bags. I'm not sure how we take care of our bags at checkout. They won't fit in our rental car along with the strollers.

does the fridge freezer portion hold go-gurts and uce boxes or is it too small for that.

We booked here in a LK Suite for the first half of our next trip.

As I was looking at the room configuration, I find myself thinking how nice it would have been if Disney had removed one of the end tables in the room with the queen bed and put in king beds instead. That would have been great.

I am glad I get to stay in this resort. I'm trying to stay at all but the DVC resorts just to say I did. :)

I would have preferred a King bed too! Just hoping it's a comfy bed. I haven't stayed on property ever before (except camping at Fort Wilderness!) - so I don't know what to expect.

We'll be there at a Cars Suite in June! Can't wait.

It would be nice to have some of the rooms have a king-sized bed but for us, I prefer a queen-size bed and more floor space in that room. We thought we were going to have to put an air mattress in that room for one of our kids when we were there last summer (we ended up not having to) and it would have been really tight with a king-sized bed. Same for parents who need to have a pack & play in the room. There's space for that with a queen-size bed but it would be tight with a king. That being said, if I was only traveling with 1 or 2 kids (rather than 4), I would probably enjoy the option of having a king-size bed in the bedroom, but I would still want a nightstand on each side of the bed. DH & I both wear glasses (at least at the end of the day -- usually contacts during the day) and I hate not having anywhere to set my glasses at night as well as a mug of water.

we just got back from our trip a week and a half ago. we had a great time....despite a nasty stomach bug that took out half of our group (and according to other moms in the laundry area also cleaning vomit covered clothes it was going around the hotel!)

we stayed at the nemo suite. nice and big. however the halls are LOUD! you could hear doors opening and closing, peoples conversations as they walk past your room.

part of the cafeteria was closed bc they were fixing the floors, you could see on the parts they didnt do yet that alot of the tile was cracking and looked really disgusting. we walked over to POP one night for dinner, we actually prefer that food area over AOA. I still cant believe AOA doesnt have chicken fingers....thankfully we ordered thru garden grocer!

i always thought pools at disney were heated....but they were freezing!! first we went in nemo and thought maybe bc it was cold the night before it made the water cold. We tried the cars pool and it was cold too. its a much smaller pool and if the heater was on it would have been warmed by late afternoon!

if you plan on doing alot of time in the pool you def. want to get a nemo suite. some of the other suites could def. be a long walk to the pool. Little mermaid was really far, never even made it to that pool. the pool at POP was closer lol

We are headed back this summer...last summer we had a suite at Cars but this year there are only 3 of us so we are just getting a room in Mermaid hope we enjoy it as much sa we did Cars suites...

well I took the plunge and booked the cars suite for our trip in August....outrageously priced, but I know my kids will be happy.
