Disney's ART OF ANIMATION RESORT Thread

Another question for those of you with very young kids; our kids are 10,8,2 and 2. We are concerned about the 2 year old twins sleeping in a bed (at home they have rails). Does the resort happen to have bed rails they let you use? We've stayed at hotels before that have them but wasn't sure if this is something Disney offered. We are staying in a Nemo suite, so they would either be sleeping in the pull out couch or the table bed. Thank you!

You used to be able to ask for a pack and play for young ones to sleep in. We used to drag the bed up against the wall and then a parent would sleep on the outside so they wouldn't roll off

Our problem is the 2 year olds refuse the pack n play when we travel now. Big sis has convinced them it is for babies! Good idea about pulling the bed against the wall. Someone else posted using the chairs around the table bed to keep kids from falling out. Just found someone on a different board that said the Disney resorts had bed rails but they only fit on standard beds (not the couch or table bed).

All Disney resorts have bed rails available. You can request them ahead of time or when you check in either at the front desk or by calling housekeeping when you get to your room. One time we had the request noted on our reservation before we checked in but still had to call once we got to our room. They delivered them within a few minutes. After that I just waited until we checked in to request them.

I've never stayed in a room at Disney (we've stayed at Pop, ASMo, and AoA) where you could move a bed (they were always on "platforms"), so that was never an option for us. I can tell you that the table bed and the queen bed in the master bedroom at AoA don't move. The couch is probably movable (we didn't try to move it) but you wouldn't be able to get the bed part of it tight against the wall as the sofa part is wider than the bed so there would be a gap between the edge of the mattress and the wall. FWIW, the sofa bed is lower to the ground than a standard bed, so if you didn't want to use bed rails, you could just put the sofa cushions on the floor beside the bed in case the kids roll off the bed.

I have heard of people taking the couch cushions (maybe only in the Cars suites?) and using that as a bed on the floor for a 2-3 year old (who refuses the pack n play but would slide out of bed). Might be something to try?

Our 3 year old slipped out of bed every night last summer at a hotel. I just asked for extra pillows for that side of the bed and after he fell out, he just stayed down there the rest of the night. The bed was not particularly high, and it worked okay. Not ideal of course, but when on vacation you make do.

My daughter did that in our LK suite. It actually worked out very nicely for her. She was 8 at the time and it was the perfect size for her. We just put the 2 cushions end-to-end and wrapped a sheet around them. We had an air mattress for her to use, but she liked the cushions better.

Thanks for all the help! One last question; how far away is the bus stop at MK from the entrance? I know that they have a huge loop of bus stops for all the different resorts. I'm hoping the AofA bus stop isn't all the way at the end.

As of last June, the AOA stop was the very last one.

I've heard of people putting pool noodles under the sheets as a makeshift bed rail too? That might work.

I enjoy this resort so much! I truthfully think I am going to make it my go to Disney resort! :) Second time staying here and I don't regret it at all.

Anyone who has been recently: what food is available in the gift shop? Many of the online reviews I have seen, are from when the resort first opened and complained that not much food was available to take back to your room (at least compared to DVC resorts with kitchens). Has this improved (i.e. can you buy bread, peanut butter, etc.)? Or should we just go to the food court for everything?
We just got back and saw smaller snacks in the store as well as things like boxes of donuts in the gift shop. Things like half gallons of milk and 2liters of soda are sold in the food court. Neither is a place to buy groceries!

WE'RE HERE!!! Got here just after 8pm last night and was so muggy after the cold of London! Anyway, the first suite we were offered at Lion King was too far away, so I asked what they had available at Cars and there was a perfect one. So, we're in 1501, which is literally the first one on the right as you go in the main door opposite the Cars pool. So, we've got a view of the pool from our 'lounge' window and shrubbery from the bedroom window (which is fine). Apart from a few little snagging problems, which I'm going to report later (the hot tap on the kitchenette sink doesn't run hot, the bathroom light in the bathroom doesn't go bright enough, and it looks as if the sliding door to the bathroom sink area has been forced right back into the wall cavity, and there's no privacy. Other than that, we love it! Pics will follow. :)

As of January, the AofA bus stop at the Magic Kingdom was the very last one. The walk really wasn't that bad, IMHO. Certainly no further than from the LM room we were in to the food hall!

Thanks so much for the update! I've been looking all over for this info. I think I'll do an Amazon Prime Pantry for sure then.

Just switched from CBR to a Lion King Suite at AoA for our September 2015 trip to WDW. We are super excited about the theming. We are a family of 6 and my concern is that I had others tell me the beds are made for younger children than mine and they will not be comfortable for them because of it. Can anyone who has been there help me understand what they might have meant?

That makes no sense. The suites have a bedroom with a queen size bed, a large sofa bed (not sure whether it's a queen or bigger), and a table bed which is a double. There are no small beds at this resort.
