Disney's Art of Animation Resort (Part II)

Drawing classes in the lobby? My DD would LOVE this! Has anyone seen this?
we saw drawing demonstrations over by the luggage desk, outside. It was showing kids (and adults) how to draw a certain character.

Can you get towels and lifejackets (for children) at the pool? Or do you need to bring towels from the room?

No towels at the pool, but housekeeping left us a LOT of towels, always plenty for pools and bathing.

Changing the subject a bit here. I'm calling to book my Finding Nemo Family Suite tomorrow. Any suggestions on any requests I should make? We want to be close to the main building.
We asked for a room closest to the main building, and got one 3 rooms in from the end of the building, on the first floor. The elevators are in the middle of the building, so if you are upstairs, you either have to walk back to the middle of the building, or come down the stairs. I asked the family in the room right next to the door at the end of the hall how the noise was, as the door closed very loudly, but they said they did not hear it inside the room. I think the soundproofing is pretty good here.

Does anyone know what's vegan at Landscape of Flavors? I know they have great vegetarian options, but I'm wondering which of those are vegan. I e-mailed Disney special diets but didn't really get a straight answer.
Our eldest is vegan, and the CMs at LOF were very helpful. They had a watermelon gazpacho and a choose your own salad. I know you can also order some of the other entrees without cheese, making them vegan.

Do you know how many tokens each game costs in the arcade? I think I read that for the Magic Your Way Package you get free tokens...is that still true? :confused3
The games really varied in how many points they cost. We (2 of us) played air hockey, skeeball, and a "catch the popcorn" game with our free points. It didn't last long, but it was a fun freebie when everyone else in our party wasn't feeling well.

Great info, thanks! Curious though about what the "drink station" would consist of. How would they "enforce" refillable mugs rules? A cast member would have to be present I would think. Unless the mugs had that chip system they were testing which I have heard about branching out beyond testing mode. We shall see!
There were no chips in the mugs, and I rarely saw a CM when I was using a drink machine. I saw people filling up all kinds of containers, from water bottles to the paper cups from the rooms. One morning in the LM section of the food court, I was filling up DH's and my mug with coffee and cocoa. I turned around to see a security guard headed towards me. When I turned around with the mugs in my hand, he smiled and headed off in another direction. I don't know what would have happened, but I was happy that I was "playing by the rules."

We're thinking about walking over to AOA from Pop for breakfast one morning (the menu looks great)!! Does it get really busy at any time? When should we get there? Also, thinking of doing the same for dinner another evening. Thoughts?

AND, hoping to stay there next summer!!

Thanks!!

Thought you all might like to see the activities at the resort.

They should just officially name AoA as a moderate resort -- it's just awesome from top to bottom!

I have a question. In the suites, is there a door to the couch area and the dining area? The bedroom is a seperate room with a door.

I wondering since they say "3 separate sleeping areas within the living space, which includes a generously sized dining or work table that easily transforms into a comfortable bed." So I am thinking there's some kind of diveder.
Thanks so much for any info on this!! :)

No divider. If you look at the floor plan, you can see the dining area is a little space from the living room, but, sadly, no divider.

Just wanted to join the thread and say hi! We will be at AoA in a Little Mermaid room checking in on November 1st just in time for MNSSHP on the 2nd! :)
I agree that LK looks great. It is going to have so much beautiful landscaping with big trees and shade. I'm going to enjoy walking through it from the LM section each day and night. I love how it looks already.

I agree 100% with this! I'm pretty sure my 6 y/0 DS wont mind the walk to LM at all, since it will be through LK! It probably will be a long walk for us though, because I'm sure we'll have to make a stop at the playground each trip! Haha!

You get a voucher for some arcade credits with the packages. The machines don't use tokens but a card you swipe at the machine. I can tell you when we use the MYW voucher the credits are gone in approximately 3.2356 minutes. :goodvibes

:rotfl2::rotfl2:This made me LOL, because my son LOVES the arcade, and he is the same way! he can go through those points SOOO FAST
!

We are looking forward to staying here this February. There seems to be a real positive vibe with AoA.

I'll admit I didn't read the whole thread. :) Are the Lion King (Aug 10) and Little Mermaid (Sep 15) building construction projects still on schedule? I haven't seen any threads b!tching about it, so I guess they are. I'm at Mermaid at the beginning of Oct, so I'm really hoping they'll have it done by then (or else dump me at AKL :) ).

Can't wait! 48 more days!!! My DH just suprised us by extending our reservation by 2 more days but, we have to move over to POP because LMR are all booked up!

There's no info saying they are late with either LK or LM. Disney is actively marketing LK being open this week on schedule.

wdwnewstoday.com has brand new pictures of the LK section! They also have peeks of the LM section! Yay!!! :goofy:

I returned from WDW late Saturday night. During my trip one of the bus drivers said they can't get the last guest out of the LM section fast enough before the next guest arrives. Maybe they should have built more standard rooms and fewer suites. It was pretty quite when I was there, capacity was at 40%. I don't know if it was 40% off total resort capacity or 40% of what is open now. I found the fences around the pools aesthetically unappealing.

I am sorry but not understanding....LM rooms aren't even open yet?

No, the resort is opening in sections. The nemo opened first, then cars, Lion King will be on the 10th I believe and LM on Sept 15. It's not completed yet.
