Disney's Art of Animation Resort hotel

Good question about the pool. I was excited to hear it would be the largest pool on property. I wonder what it will look like??
Also, will the pool be open when the first phase of the resort is open?

It would be pretty shoddy of them to open up a resort without most of the amenities being available.

I would expect the main registration building with food court and store open along with the main feature pool.

The smaller quiet pools, those I can see waiting until that section is open.

We weren't sure how the construction noise and/or dust would affect our stay. We decided to not take the chance. We were going to stay at POR with the Spring Discount, but decided to get a travel trailer and stay at the campgrounds instead.

Means I have to be the mousekeeper, but I've already made up the tip envelopes for my family to use. :rotfl2:

Has anyone seen any art work for the pools..........
Also, will you be able to walk across the bridge to POP, or will they separate the two?
Debsx:hug:
Just google New Pictures of Disney Art of Animation, or go back and click on some of the last links in this thread, and there are mock ups of the pool areas. The bridge to Pop is still there, I doubt they will tear it down.

i am leaving for my trip may 23rd, and ill be there till june 1st. im planning to be in pop century for the whole trip, however...part of me REALLY wants to be at AoA for their opening night. is it worth spending the extra money to stay at AoA the first night its open?

The only thing im unsure about, is that its our last night. so we would be checking into AoA whenever it opens, and leaving to go home the next morning...

its only going to be me and my dbf on the trip, so im just kind of torn as to whether or not its worth it. do they do anything special the first night hotels are opeN?

I am VERY excited...we are staying here too in October..probably Lion King section...:thumbsup2

I'll "GRRR..." right along with you ... but for a different reason. I have girls who are huge Little Mermaid fans and we want to stay at A of A strictly for the suites. But, LM rooms are just "regular" rooms.

I've said it before, but I really wish they would have made one of the gender neutral themes into a non-suite building ... Nemo or Lion King would work. Cars and LM fans are pretty gender based IMO ... so a section of suites devoted to each of these would make sense to me (although, I'm sure Disney has some spreadsheet that says otherwise).

This is my thinking on why they chose LM for the non-suite rooms. I have been wrong once or twice in my life. ;)

Since they had the standard rooms already built as mentioned by PP's, something had to be standard. Until AoA, people in need of a value suite had to stay at Music (which his pretty gender neutral). However, people able to stay in a standard room have had their choices of all the rest of Disney property which gives them many boy/girl or gender neutral choices. So, if a group of four or less wants to stay at AoA then standard rooms are limited to the LM theme but other than that they have a huge choice of options.

There are only three of us but I think the girls and I would most like the Nemo rooms out of those options but then, we can go to Toy Story at Movies as we often do. :)

It would have been nice if it had been cost effective for them to have had both suites and non suites for all the sections but what I am happy that there are finally some options for larger groups.

P.S. After reading this once I posted it ... Wow, my brain must be toast. Not a very coherent post.

There are only 4 of us and we are staying in the Nemo Suites, and I can't wait.

Well, they certainly arent' going to make everyone happy, as far as the theming.

We are a family of 6, the supposed demographic they are aiming for with the suites, but we prefer 2 connecting rooms. We try to rotate all of our annual trips around the Free Dining Promos, so we don't need the kitchen. We spend as much time as possible in the parks and really only sleep and shower in the room, so no need for a living area. 2 connecting value rooms give us pretty much the same amount of space and the same number of bathrooms, for MUCH less money. We are hoping we can get a FD discount next December with 2 connecting rooms in the Little Mermaid section.

Out of all of them, I would love to stay at the Lion King themed rooms. I love The Little Mermaid and Nemo, but the water theme would become kind of dizzying for me.

Thanks for the great aerial photos!
With regards to the Bridge......do you think that you would simply be able to walk across the bridge from the Animation Resort to POP to take photos etc....or do you think it will be some sort of key access that separates the two? Hoping you would be able to wonder around both resorts!
Debsx:thumbsup2

So looking at when we would try to go would price the suites at $395! YIKES thats not value to me. That was a weekend rate- I believe the weekly would be around $320. (summer season)
I don't know what I was expecting but the almost $400 surprised me as we were able to stay in a deluxe concierge room for less than that with discounts.

As of right now Disney has not given the official word yet that the bridge between POP and AOA will be accessible. I am hoping they will not close the bridge so guests can not go back and fourth between the two resorts. Regards to the pass key scenario, I highly doubt Disney would do this as it cause to much confusion for the workers at the resorts for keeping track of the keys. If Disney releases any news on the bridge though, I will post it in this thread

Nice aerial shots! Can't wait to stay at AoA in August. Waiting impatiently for more pics/info!

I apologize if this has been answered. I tried to look but this is a very long thread to go through each post.

I am staying here in August (Nemo suite). I'm guessing that pool will be open, but what about the other pools/playgrounds and water spray area? Anyone know?

I'm super excited about this resort! I am however wondering why they chose to do a Nemo Section and Little Mermaid section as both are "water" themed. Especially with having the Nemo rooms at Caribbean Beach. Would have loved to have seen a Beauty and the Beast section instead of Nemo.

Does anyone know if it's for sure a King Bed in the master?

The Nemo and Lion King section will be open in May, the Cars section is to be open in late July/early August and the Little Mermaid section is to open in December.

I have been thinking about this. I see from the 2nd aerial picture that the part of the bridge on the AOA side has been landscaped. So my thought is that you will be able to pass though...well that is what I'm hoping. :-) The pools look to be comparable to the ones at the Pop, meaning no slides. So I'm not sure if the guests at POP would be allowed to swim in the AOA pools and vice versa.
So I think that if guests from each hotel would not be able to go back and forth, they would take away the bridge...just my thoughts. :goodvibes

I heard a rumor that there will be a troll under the bridge, and you will be asked to answer year-related questions before passing (to make good use of the year-related trivia placards around POP.)

:thumbsup2
