Disney's Art of Animation Resort hotel

I am not sure how that could work. Pop Century has 2880 rooms, AOA will have around 2000. That is nearly 5000 rooms worth of people to share one bus system? If you have stayed at Pop, then you know how many people that one resort alone carts around. I can't imagine sharing with another resort, even one located on the same property.

AKL and Kidani together have I think around 1700 rooms. Kidani only has 458 rooms total, so not really large enough to justify its own bus system. But with another 2000 rooms added to an already huge resort, I hope they don't share. If they do my Pop days are over!

I did the math earlier in the thread, and it makes me think the most likely outcome will be dedicated buses at busy times but shared at non-peak times. Ignoring king bed rooms because they're such a small percentage, Pop & AoA have a slightly lower total combined occupancy than the All-Stars. So if the All-Stars share some of the time it is possible that Pop & AoA will as well.

The one thing that I could see working in favor of dedicated buses for Pop and AoA is that Disney books a LOT of sports/cheer/music competition groups at the All Stars, which shifts some of the transportation demand away from typical family/tourist patterns because those groups plan around events not park hours/EMH/touring plans. So it is possible that even though Pop & AoA hold a few hundred less people, the transportation demands will be higher and thus justify full time separate busing.

Disappointing that all the regular rooms are Little Mermaid. When will Disney give little boys as many options as little girls?

I am curious do some of the regular Little Mermaid Rooms have connecting rooms? The reason I am asking is b/c I have girls that would love TLM instead of LK or Nemo & we need to sleep 5? anyone?:upsidedow

I apologize if this has been asked before:
Does anyone know when the LM rooms will be available for booking?

December 2012

As in it will be open then or they can be booked for the following year?

I just jumped on this thread so I'm not sure what has been answered and what has not. We are going in December of 2012 and thought about staying here so I was wondering if it would be open. Are there other rooms besides LM? It looks amazing from the pics! TIA for any info! :thumbsup2

ETA ~ Found my answer, thanks!

The 864 rooms planned within The Little Mermaid buildings will be sea-inspired with an eye towards value. The Lion King, Cars and Finding Nemo buildings are planned to exclusively feature family suites which accommodate up to six guests.

The resort opens this summer.

LM rooms aren't expected to be ready until the end of December 2012. *this is from information posted by others on this thread*

I dont know if I am reading this correctly or just dont want to believe it. So the only non-suites are Little Mermaid Themed? Its just me, hubby and my 2 sons. We dont need a suite bc we are in the parks A LOT and truthfully we are in the room to sleep, but I know my sons would love a Lion King or Cars themed room. It seems as though you always have to pay more for boy theming...grrr...

so only little mermaid themed non suites? Right?

I'll "GRRR..." right along with you ... but for a different reason. I have girls who are huge Little Mermaid fans and we want to stay at A of A strictly for the suites. But, LM rooms are just "regular" rooms.

I've said it before, but I really wish they would have made one of the gender neutral themes into a non-suite building ... Nemo or Lion King would work. Cars and LM fans are pretty gender based IMO ... so a section of suites devoted to each of these would make sense to me (although, I'm sure Disney has some spreadsheet that says otherwise).

I believe the earliest booking date is Dec. 31. We are already booked for January 2013:goodvibes

Where is this resort located? This will be a huge factor for us. TIA!!

It's right beside Pop Century. The former "shell" buildings that were supposed to house Pop Century's second phase were re-imagined into the new AOA resort.

You are probably right which is too bad! Honestly, even though the All Stars do share to varying degrees, I have never had too much of a problem with that. Now at Pop on the other hand, even though they don't share, their busses have at times aggravated me quite a bit. Add AOA into the equation and lets just say I am glad AOA won't be open when we stay at Pop in March!

Sorry but I'm not up to reading 50+ pages. I did notice someone say that Finding Nemo, Cars and Lion King areas are just suites. Is this true and why would they do that? I would have thought they would have a mix of regular units and suites in all the buildings.:confused3

You are right. This was built to be a primarily suite resort. Little Mermaid section is in the exisiting buildings and the only regular rooms

Yeah it was primarily as suites and probably ONLY have the regular rooms because those buildings were already there and built as suites. It would have cost a lot of money to tear them down and rebuild them as suites.

Holy cow, I never knew that! I always do everything online and I never imagined there were different rules for different systems. We only ever book room-only, anyway, unless we do AP+dining but we usually add that closer to the date. Thanks for the tip! I'll have to square away our Jan 2013 dates sooner than I thought! :goodvibes

I never knew that either! Thanks for the tip!

Has anyone seen any art work for the pools..........
Also, will you be able to walk across the bridge to POP, or will they separate the two?
Debsx:hug:
