Disney's Art of Animation Resort hotel

Thats why I was asking. This cm specifically said suites for 8 and 12 people in addition to the 6 person suites. She told me to call back in September to see if those rooms are open yet for reservations. Then again we all know about the knowledge of some cm's.

Anyone else heard this?

I was looking at the mousesavers rate page and it only shows 1 family suite rate. But I noticed at the bottom it says:

http://www.mousesavers.com/artanimation2012.html

You can book Finding Nemo Family Suites for arrivals 5/31/12 and later; Cars Family Suites for arrivals 7/31/12 and later; and The Lion King Family Suites for arrivals 9/30/12 and later.

Standard rooms sleep 4 in two double beds or 2 in a King bed.

Family Suites sleep 6, in a variety of bedding. The exact floorplan of these suites has not been released.

Maybe the Cars or Lion King are bigger or connect.

I haven't had a chance to read through this whole thread, so I'm not sure if these pictures have been posted yet. Here are some room pics:

Wow! Love the pics of the suites! Thanks!! Now I know why Disney is charging more of these Family Suites. They definitely look more posh than the Family Suites at AS Music. Perhaps they should also think of a new resort category for AoA. What do you guys think? Instead of simply 'Value', they could go with something like 'Value Plus' or 'Value Supreme'. If anything, it will set it apart from the other value resorts and Disney followers, such as us, will know for sure that pricing at AoA will be higher. Just by looking at the pics and comparing them to the pics of the family suites at AS Music, I think that the extra cost may very well be justified.

Do you think there are regular rooms in all the buildings or just the Little Mermaid section?

It would be nice if they offered regular rooms in each of themes not just for suites. Just checking to see if anyone had any information.

Thanks.

Everything we have seen so far indicates that only the Little Mermaid section will have regular rooms. :(

Makes me kindda sad to think only Little Mermaid section will offer standard rooms....we are a family of 4 (almost 3 with a college student not vacationing anymore) and only need a standard room.

I love the themes and would love to stay in the Cars section for my husband of course! :)

It makes me very happy that they are FINALLY making a themed hotel that appeals to families of more than 4. We are a family of 5 and the ASMusic does not appeal to us. If it wasn't for AoA, we would have no other choice but to stay there or go to Port Orleans. I am extremely thrilled that Disney is starting to recognize that not everyone has just 2 kids.

Yes but for the price they're charging for these suites, isn't it more economical just to get two standard rooms? :confused3 Or even to stay in one room at POR?

Absolutely... except for the fact that Disney doesn't guarantee connecting rooms. So when a family of 5+ books two rooms they're rolling the dice on whether it will work out perfectly with the parents in one room and the kids in the connecting room next door or whether the rooms will be on different floors/in different buildings with Mom in one room with a couple of kids and Dad in the other with the rest. There was even a report on the DIS a while back from a single mom of 4 who couldn't get her connecting request honored.

To stay in one room and be in a themed hotel that my kids love, I'll take the little bit of price increase. For us, it was $385 less to stay 8 days at Music. It may not be for everyone, but it works for us.

Here is what I found about suites/regular rooms:
http://www.stitchkingdom.com/disney...topping-out-ceremony-walt-disney-world-17042/

Finding Nemo, Cars and The Lion King buildings will be entirely family suites, with 1,120 suites between them. The Little Mermaid buildings will feature 864 rooms in the “value” room category.

"Today more and more multi-generational families are traveling together for various celebrations, including family reunions. These families not only want to play together, they want to stay together, which has created tremendous demand for family suites."

The above is quoted from the article. I wish they truly would have a value suite for multi-generational familys.....I travel with my 2 adult daughters & 3 grandchildren. Don't particularly want to sleep with my grown dd's, but will sleep with grandkids, lol. As we split the bill evenly, no one wants to sleep on a pull out no matter how comfy it might be. :goodvibes

I spoke to a CM on the phone today who told me that they are moving towards having no rooms for 5 at POR. She said that the ultimate goal is for families of five or more to book suites or deluxe rooms for 5.

That rumor has been around for a while, at least since the PO refurb was announced, but I don't put a lot of stock in it simply because POR is still bookable for a party of 5 through all of 2012 despite the fact that AoA will be open mid-year and the rehab will be complete not long after.

Besides, even that doesn't explain the AoA pricing - those rooms cost just as much as a Ft Wilderness cabin and in the cabin you get a full kitchen, three real beds (not pull outs), and moderate resort amenities. It seems Disney is banking on the "new resort" factor being worth quite a large price premium. Only time will tell if the public will agree.

We are booked at POR as a family of 5 for November of 2012. I called a little over a week ago when I first saw mention of no trundles and the CM I spoke with said they had no info about that and that it would be a huge mess since they have been steadily booking those rooms for next year. All the other options (family suites, deluxes, cabins) for families of 5 cost more money and the CM said she could not see how they could all be magically upgraded.

I tend to agree with that CM because Disney would be looking at hundreds, if not thousands, of guests that would have to be relocated at Disney's expense and I just can't see them making that kind of mistake and allow it to continue to the extent that it has.

So then there will be no options at the moderates for families of 5? That stinks. I wouldn't stay at POR because cramming 5 into one small room no longer appeals to me (did it once, kids are too big now, it would not work). But I hate to see families losing options. And POR is so beautiful.

Honestly, I don't put much stock into what the reservation CMs say. They usually tend to know less than we do. When I call in to make requests, they don't even know what I'm talking about half the time.

I get what you're saying, but I called 3 separate times to be sure and not 1 CM could even give me a quote for POR for 5. I hate the inconsistency.

You can get quotes and book packages/rooms for POR as a party of 5 on Disney's website. You just have to be 499 away from your check out date.
