Disney's Art of Animation Resort hotel

This really makes me sad....how can a family afford $300 a night? I mean, if they CAN afford that...they will be staying deluxe.

I just don't get where WDW higher ups think that a "hallway" is worth $50/night more.

Looks like AoA will not be on our radar...

Not necessarily a deluxe because some of us don't want to cram into one room even if that room does allow 5, but the upcharge for these suites over the ASMu suites and two value rooms seems like a pretty major turn-off. I was excited about having another option that doesn't involve rolling the dice on getting a connecting request granted, but that was based on the assumption that the pricing would be competitive with the ASMu suites. At the current pricing, the Ft Wilderness cabins look like the much better option - full kitchen, moderate resort amenities, better location for only a very slight price difference.

All I can say is "wow". I expected these rooms to be a little more expensive than Pop but not this much. I think Disney needs to take the Value Resort name away from AOA. No way we will stay here now unless some codes or discounts come available for next early June. Looks like we may stay at Pop again. We may try ASSports again. It has been a long time since we stayed there. When was the last time Sports rooms were refurbed? Disney should be ashamed calling AOA a value resort, very disappointed.

Wow... I'm really the most surprised at how surprised everyone is with the prices. REALLY? :confused3 They're a BRAND NEW RESORT! Of course it will be more expensive than ASMu (It's new!). And OF COURSE it will be more expensive than rooms that only sleep 4 (it sleeps SIX!). And all that over-the-top theming is costing them BUCKETS. Yes, another reason they probably could have toned it down a bit, but I still bet people will be lined up for ages trying to get in there. I know I will be! Are fold outs all that convenient? No. A decent gig for families with more than 1 or 2 kids? Yeah. I really don't know many kids that care all that much where they're sleeping when they're at Disney World, as far as comfort goes. Kids will appreciate themes and adults get a separate room to unwind in at the end of the day. Right NOW it seems priced more like the Mods, but that doesn't mean it will always be that way... once the newness wears off (and perhaps another resort opens down the line... or the do a major overhaul on AS) it will probably seem more competitive with the other values... eventually.

Of course... I just want them to hurry up and open Little Mermaid because we don't need a suite yet that's one of my top 3 movies (the other two have no resort themed from them- Beauty and the Beast and Lilo and Stitch)

The only advantage to the suite is the mini-fridge - and that's certainly not enough to account for the price difference...

When I looked at the amenities and room description of the suite, the fridge was only available for an additional fee so there isn't a savings there.

I have to say I too am not too thrilled with the price increase of $55 a night that's alot when we are looking at booking 4/5 suits. I also don't like the new layout of the rooms I find that ASMu is better cause it offers two twin sleeper rather than all doubles if we are making boy is our group bunk together then two room giving us two double beds to sleep 8 is a better deal than a suit with three doubles sleeping only 6. I like the single bed option at ASMu that was worth the extra cost to us.

Where did you find the room layout . I keep seeing 3 different ones . We are going in Sept 2012 . My Dh is still unsure about AOA . Thinking POR may be better kids would like Beach Club . With the increase of room cost and the rumour of no discounts next year and rumour of no free dinning . I am thinking this may be our last trip to Disney:sad1:

At this price, there's no way I would give up the amenities at POR. We get the boat to DTD, a hot tub, pretty pool, great food court, fridge, etc. We often go with my parents, so I can put my 3rd child in their room when he's too old to officially be in our room.

I wouldn't count on that rumor too much yet. They said the same thing last year. No free dining and no discounts...and not only did they have free dining and discounts, but they exteneded it longer than ever before.

Not so much the room layout but when you look online to book it says this about the suit

All suites have one queen-size bed in the master bedroom and a living room with one double-size Inova TableBed and one double-size sleeper sofa

I'm not fond of the three bed sleeping two. I like the ASMu with four bed options two sets of two and two sets of one. We have teen boys and they are funny about sharing beds.

We always have 6 people and stay in the cabins but I would like to try these. Wish they would be ready by April next year. Wondering what the price range will be.

Take a look at any other resort and look at the "seasons."

Then go to the AOA section and pick another similar time of year to the April time frame. That will give you an idea of the pricing for April, even though they haven't been released yet.

Yeah, I'm not really thrilled about that either but I'm waiting until we see a room layout to make any judgments. I much prefer the ASMu bedding arrangement over two doubles and a queen, and I was hoping for the InovaBed plus two sleep chairs, That would actually accommodate all 6 of us when my mother travels with us; three beds is fine for my family of 5 but not for 6 with a teenage boy in the group.

I was really excited for this too. I thought they might actually make the suites a bit bigger. It seems like they're going to be very similar or even worse than the other ones available at value resorts. Why can't Disney put together a DECENT hotel with nice size rooms for a value price? I think we'll be staying at Bonnet Creek even if that means losing some Disney perks. I just can't justify the money spent for the itty bitty living space.

::yes:: Bonnet Creek for us too!

Anyone know when The Little Mermaid section will be available for booking? There will only be two of us so we don't need a suite.

Thanks! :thumbsup2
