Disney's Art of Animation Resort hotel

I am one of the few who is NOT interested in family suites. I love the themeing of this resort but have no need for a suite so would book a 'standard' room. I only see suites available on the WDW site, when are the rooms scheduled to be ready?

Thanks.
December 2012

I've stayed in the suites at ASMu, and I've been looking into the AOA suites, and it seems the latter has two advantages over the former: outside cooridors and two pull-out beds rather than a pull-out and a chair (or 2?) pull-out.

i actually like the sleeping layout of the ASMU better than the AoA. I liked having 4 separate beds (bed, sofa, chair, ottoman) for us to use, as none of us like sharing beds. If we stay at AoA, 2 of us will have to share and I'm not happy about that. :sad2:

I am very excited about Art of Animation. Since it is just the two of us, I will be waiting until the Little Mermaid (single rooms) section is available at the end of the year.

Maybe the reason why it isn't showing is because I am putting in dates prior to the scheduled opening - duh!

Thanks for your help!

They aren't supposed to start taking reservations for the December 2012 opening until this summer, supposedly around June.

If you go back one or two pages on this thread we discussed it in more detail.

You can book them now, but they aren't scheduled to officially open till Dec.31 of this year. They "might" open earlier, but right now you can only book Dec. 31 or after.

I check everyday...you never know when they will open it up.....but than again kind of scary what is going on with the Royal rooms might happen here too...So i am just probably planning on booking a moderate again..but would love to stay at AoA if i could....it would be my first value hotel...

What am I missing? There is some excitement about a new place to stay but the room layout doesn't seem great to me. 1 queen bed and 3 double size beds in a suite. But I'm imagining it being a hassle converting the tables to beds, etc... and that those double beds will not be comfortable.

I could get 2 rooms (4 beds) at Pop or All Stars for less than the cost of an AOA suite. Or a moderate resort (some have 2 queen beds now) if I wanted everyone in the same room.

I am really looking forward to staying there! We are going in Oct and staying at POP, since it will only be me,DH, and DS and we don't need a family suite (which is what is opening for the first phase). I look forward to staying there when our family grows and also when we go with our extended family. I think the concept looks much better than ASMo, much more going on in the rooms with themeing and what not.

You can not book the Little Mermaid Standard rooms at AOA for any dates in 2012, neither through the website or over the phone. I call every couple of weeks to see if they are taking any reservations for December of 2012, when they are supposed to open, and they are not taking reservations yet. I just called yesterday.

Someone said you can book the Little Mermaid standard rooms for 2013 dates, and I don't know if that's been confirmed, but would make sense because the construction will be done by then. But, you still can not book those rooms for December 2012.

Actually, the AOA suites, and the All-Star Music family suites, only sleep 6 people. The new AOA suites will have 1 queen bed and 2 "fold" out beds.

We are a family of 6 and we always get 2 connecting rooms at a value resort. We are planning on staying at the AOA Little Mermaid standard rooms when they open.

No, you are wrong, you CAN book it for Dec. 31st, 2012. It's online....and I am a travel agent and just quoted it the other day. It's there.

Oh, well, that's a totally different story, you can book ONE day in December of 2012 - I had no idea that being able to book for one day of a month translated into being able to book for the entire month of December. Thanks for sharing that info though.

But, I guess the rest of us that are planning to visit any of the other 30 days of December 2012 will remain waiting . . . .

I never said anything different....just responding to you quoting me. It is bookable online and on the phone...starting Dec 31.

jenseib's info was helpful, to anyone wanting to book dec 31. which was exactly what she posted.

and Princess Tiffany's info is also helpful.. to know that that is the only date available that month (so far)
