Unbelievable that AKL wouldn't help you! There are cameras ON the balconies, they would hardly have to dig at all to catch those hillbillies! I'm so sorry you had to deal with something like this. My husband and I always build in 3 hotel days to our vacations when we stay at AKL, we sleep late every day, take our time getting up and out, and indulge in room service, and with all that luxurious hotel time I can tell you that if we had someone smoking next door I would be beyond livid. And especially so if AKL refused to do anything about it. Rule-breakers really chap my hide, especially because they usually know that Dis won't go to any extent to enforce their own rules. I'm sure those pigs are also line-jumpers.

I hope AKL will compensate you in some way for the disgusting inconvenience. I'm shocked that they would not enforce their own rules, especially when they received a complaint from another guest.

I'm not looking for any compensation. I just want WDW to take smoking violations more seriously. They must have a procedure in place to clean rooms that have been smoked in. With the thousands of rooms and daily turnover I'm positive this is a routine problem.

I work in a conference center and at our hotel when someone smokes in a room it has to go "offline" for multiple nights for cleaning. We have to take down the curtains, the bedspread, etc and air it out to get rid of the smell. I'm not aware if we do anything like the ozone machine mentioned earlier, but it's a pretty routine problem to have...

We checked in to YC last year and within 15 minutes, I smelled cigarette smoke and called the front desk.. I was told it would be handled right away and we never smelled it again after that

Hey Guys! New around here but i am super pumped for our January trip! AKL would've been 100% our of out budget but thanks to renting DVC points we got all 3 nights for less than what one night would cost normally. It was even cheaper than staying at All Star sports by $20! I was shocked!
we will be in the Jambo house and i couldn't be more excited! Thank you for all the tips!

That's great. I just am so nervous about renting points and not being able to cancel. Are you going to get trip insurance? I would hope so. One day I might be able to rent points.

So excited for you! AKL is our favorite hotel...although we've only stayed in 3 hotels on property. I just can't imagine staying somewhere where we didn't have those incredible animal views right from our own balcony! I guess one day we'll have to stay elsewhere, especially if we're not in a position to save all year just to afford our AKL stay. You'll love it! It's definitely a one-of-a-kind resort. And it sounds like you got a great deal too.

Less than 2 weeks until our Honeymoon/Anniversary trip! To say that I am excited is an understatement!
Has anyone ever ordered anything to be left in the room after check in? Like the "Welcome to Africa" platter. I wanted to order something as a surprise for my husband that could be deivered after check in so he can see it when we get back from a park.

It was at least 20, because I booked a UAC in February, but for CL. I think the CL discount may have been slightly less. Basically the same rate went public sometime after. This was for a late July to early August trip.

Ya, it has been at 25-30% off with the past couple releases, but I am betting it won't be any higher than 20% come early 2017.

@JohnDaleswife we've rented DVC points and just loved the savings. Brokers may have point protection as part of their offerings so you can look into that. I would say if there is a stronger probability that you many change/cancel, renting DVC may not be the best way to go...........just from a peace of mind perspective. However, on the first trip we used it at BWV this past January, we saved about 45% on our room! We've rented points for 2 rooms for our November trip to Jambo House (Jersey House during that week )..........saving more than 50% on the rooms! In my mind its one of the few places big money can be saved onsite.

I think Jambo House both resort and DVC just finished soft goods and Kidani is in process but I've not heard of room layout changes. Of course I could be mistaken on all accounts here. I'm really hoping the resort got soft goods. I'll find out in two weeks! We are in a Savannah view July 17-23! Totally excited about returning.
