Disney's ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE Information & Questions

When we were at Disney November 2015, I remember the Disney Springs (is that what the shopping is now?) sharing a bus with the water parks. I'm sure in the summer things are different.

Do you think that AKL is very much a place to skip a ticketed day? We usually book tickets for all our days for maximum flexibility. But the resort activities seem right up my kids' alley--these two went all in for the Animal Kingdom park badge collecting activity last year. Animals and facts are fun for them.

Regular AKL people, do you usually do a resort day sans park tickets?

The resort is fabulous, but we always go to AK at least once a trip. We love the safari, lion king, and yak and yeti. It's not a whole day by any means but with the new changes coming it will be a nice change.

Do you recall how you get to Blizzard Beach?

We stayed at Pop in 2013 and I remember one particular bus from there always stopped at a water park on the way to a park, I believe it was the Epcot bus. If you don't find out ahead of time I'm sure the CMs working can tell you which bus goes to BB. We'll be going there the first week of June from AKL if you don't get anything before then.

This will be our first trip to AKL but we're doing 1.5 resort days. Our check in day we'll be checking in from another hotel in Orlando so we'll be there very early and planning to spend the day at the pool or actives. We also have one day in the middle of our trip planned for spending at the lodge!

Resort days are fabulous at AKL/V... Ther're essential on all our trips, regardless of resirt/ DVC Villa, but somehow when you stay at AKL/V it's like a vacation within a vacation.....You'll see what I mean...And also both resort ( Kidani/ Jambo ) Have 2 terrific pools...Both different, but equally impressive in its own....

We stayed 8 nights last November and had tickets for every day, but spent many half days at the resort. Because of the proximity of Jambo and Kidani, you have two great pools and activities. Our local friends would come just to hang out with us there. You could easily fill one to two days here without park tickets.

On none of our stays have we ever done a resort day. We too usually have park tickets for every day except the day we leave. However this November will be our first stay at AKL and I am thinking of making our arrival day a resort day. (Not to mention we are coming in on a very busy Saturday - the one after Thanksgiving - and expect the parks to be insane.)

I love resort days only. I am doing more and more resort-only days as the years progress, too. It's nice to stop and smell the flowers...uh...or the animals, as the case may be (or maybe not) . :)

I think you could definitely spend a day at the pools alone- my kids never wanted to leave the Kidani pool area. It is not in my personality though- I was up a few mornings staring at my sleeping family willing them to wake up so we didn't miss rope drop. We did half days at the park and half days at the resort, buying tickets for every day. My family could totally have done a full day at the resort if I hadn't gone all park commando

This is exactly correct. Makes getting to DS quite the journey.

Most definitely. We always schedule an off day anyway, just to regenerate. But at AKL it is an absolute must.

....my DS should be getting his package today of stuff he bid on [on E-Bay]....arriving in the mail is a bedspread used at Jambo House and an AKL pillow....pretty exciting - his room is really coming together nicely!

We check in for our first ever Disney trip as a family in LESS THAN A WEEK! I am so excited. My husband is a little less enthusiastic. He enjoys some coffee in the morning to put a little pep in his step. What kind of filters do the machines take? Can we bring our own coffee? IS the coffee there "good enough?"

We are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge next month with the dining plan for the first time. I know Mara is very close but does the pool bar have a drink station for your refillable mug? We've stayed at AKL before but not with the dining plan so I didn't pay attention much to the pool bar and I couldn't find the answer anywhere in the thread using the search feature.

I dont know about the pool bar, but like you said, Mara is VERY close to the pool. Depending on where you're sitting, it could be closer than the pool bar!

Is there anywhere within the lodge I can get a latte in a to go cup? I much prefer lattes than coffee and was hoping there was somewhere I could grab one every morning. Thanks!!

It's really not encouraged that this practice take place.....Not only for WDW visitors staying at other resorts, but especially for people that LIVE nearby...:confused3.....Just sayin..
