Disney's ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE Information & Questions

I also got the letter this weekend. We're not going until mid-May and DVC member services told me the work is scheduled to go on through July, but it's primarily the club lounge and soft goods, so I'm not overly concerned.

HOWEVER, I am posting with a new and different question. I am a DVC member and booked a 2 bdrm standard view at Jambo with points (for 4 of us), then a separate savannah-view studio for my son & his girlfriend via Disney reservations (using a TA). Due to today's 25% deal, my TA called to say she could save me over $600 if I wanted to change the studio villa to a regular savannah-view room. I jumped at it, and no matter what, I feel it's worth the money, but was trying to get a lay of the land to see how far away these rooms will likely be. We do have a "travel with" number attached to both reservations, but I'm assuming our odds of being on the same floor, or even marginally close to each other, are likely a lot worse now. I have looked at many Jambo House maps, but can't get a good idea of where the regular rooms are vs. the DVC studios. Sounds like the villas are mostly on the 5th floor? Is that true? So it's likely that my son will be on a lower floor? Different floors doesn't bother me as much as opposite ends of the resort would. Hoping our "travel with" will help that situation, but if anyone has any insight or hints regarding what I might be able to request to increase our chances of being as close as possible, it'd be appreciated!

Thanks.

All none CL DVC units are on the 5th floor. Hotel rooms are on the 4th floor and below.

Came home to the letter today. I am going to be more than a bit irritated if they aren't willing to do anything for us. I have done the "Disney in a construction zone" thing before and it was less than magical. I emailed my agent at the rental service to see what she can do.

I messaged you.....we are in a similar boat on rented points. I'm curious to see what they say!

I rented points from a family member I tried to call and see if I could do any switching since the reservation is in my name and was shut down. She was able to call for me and they did switch us to from Jambo studio sav. view to Kandai 1 bedroom sav. view without being charged any additional points for 7 of my 8 nights. The last night will have to switch to Jambo since the other rooms are sold out on that night.

We got our letter a few days ago-we're at Jambo 1/15-1/18 in a standard view studio on rented points. I wasn't concerned at all until I came on here and saw that others were!! For the most part we'll be out during the day and a soft goods refurb isn't noisy, so other than being inconvenienced by the lounge being moved I don't really think it's a big deal :confused3 Granted we have yet to stay at a resort during a refurb but still......

I will share my experience with soft good refurb. We were at POFQ during one several years ago. Soft goods often includes carpet and wallpaper, and it appears based on the renderings that it will here. That means old carpet and wallpaper has to be removed and new brought in. That means lots of scraping of the walls, hammering new tack strips into concrete for the carpet, and all the rolls of carpet and wallpaper everywhere. It was definitely noisy and messy, and the refurb at POFQ got behind so they went outside the 9-5 hours. I do t particularly want that experience again, and I am not pleased that we weren't notified sooner. We are only about 6 weeks out.

It seems like they are moving the savan

When are you going? It seems like they called people with Sav view rooms to move them, at least for January. Did you initiate the move, or did they? I keep debating about asking the person I rented from to call, but I'm afraid disney won't accommodate since we only have a standard view... We'll be there in Jan

I'm glad I'm staying in the lodge and won't have construction going on in our bldg.
Do you mean Kidani? We have a single night in a standard view room at AKL booked before our DVC stay, and we got the same letter for that. The Construction is at the lodge.

Thanks! I just contacted the person I rented through. Maybe they'll move us, maybe they won't. I wouldn't normally care except my DD is 2 and we need quiet during nap time!!

Gotcha, thanks. I hadn't thought about that, to be honest. Wondering if I should contact the owner we rented points from. Our Nov. stay at BWV (which was our 4th time there) was NOT........."magical" lol, and DH will NOT be thrilled if this refurb disturbs us :scratchin

Is your cousin DVC or did she rent points? Thanks :)

Finally got the letter myself :( I knew it must be coming, I don't have very good luck at anything lol. We are Jambo DVC Savannah View 1/19-23. I'm contemplating calling to see if we can move to Kidani or BLT but I'm also thinking just wait it out, check out the room and the surroundings and go from there? Should be somewhat slow that week...do you think we'd have better luck "upgrading" if we wait it out and lodge a complaint IF necessary? We really want to stay at our original reservation. Is it possible they have already upgraded some rooms to 1 bedrooms that might not be affected? Honestly, I was all good until a recent post that mentioned carpeting and wallpaper lol.

Yes we are staying at the lodge. I called today and was told they are only.doing refurbs to DVC units and the club level lounge which are in a separate bldg then we are in. I was told that nothing was going on in the area I would be in. Now if they were wrong when I get there then that will be a different story.

Are the DVC units in Jambo connected to the regular units. I was told today when I called that the refurb wouldn't affect us because we were in a standard room. I just find it hard to believe that we wouldn't have some impact from construction.

CL is on the 6th floor of Jambo house.

The DVC CL units are on the 5th floor.

It's still your building (in the interest of full disclosure).
