Disney's ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE Information & Questions

Hi everyone! I just booked two nights in a standard view room for September. This is our first stay here! I looked through the first couple posts but didn't see anything about the akl exclusive tours. Could anyone point me to some reviews or info?

Is there a map view of club level room locations that someone can point me to? Wondering about standard CL rooms and 1 bedroom suites in particular. I did read that CL is located on either the 5th or 6th floors of Jambo house. I have a silly (CL newbie) type question....Are all CL rooms located right by the lobby on the 5th or 6th floor or is CL scattered from one end of Jambo to the other? I have never stayed at AKL or CL before and hoping to experience both for a few nights at the end of our trip this October. Also, the location description of the standard CL room on Disneys website says Arusha view but I thought I read that standard CL could be either Savanna or pool view. If anyone can please clarify the floor #, proximity of CL rooms to the lobby, and view for standard CL rooms, I'd be very very grateful. :thanks:

Not sure about this, but curious since we are staying AKL CL next week. You may want to ask in the CL thread.

Didn't think to asked in the CL thread. Will do that now, thanks for the suggestion :thumbsup2

I can't answer all of your questions but perhaps a history lesson on AKL will help clear up some confusion and explain why there is so much misinformation about AKL CL views. There are no regular cash reservation rooms (CL or otherwise) on the 5th floor. The 5th floor was converted to DVC villas in 2007. Also in 2007 the former 6th floor CL rooms were converted to DVC CL villas - some of those rooms are pool or Arusha savanna view. Based on what I have read, I believe the cash reservation CL regular rooms in Jambo have been located on the 4th floor and have had Arusha Savanna views since 2007. So depending on whether you are in a DVC unit or in a regular deluxe room determines where you will be if CL at AKL. If DVC then you'll be on the 6th floor w/ variable views. If CL room cash reservation then you should be on the 4th floor w/ Arusha view.

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain what is where and which is which :thumbsup2 So, if I book a CL standard, cash reservation, non DVC CL, it will be on the 4th floor and have an Arusha view?

I'm still curious as to the distance to the lobby from these CL standard, non DVC, rooms on the 4th floor, if anyone knows. Are CL rooms everywhere throughout Jambo or are they all centrally located close to the pool and lobby?
:thanks:

Can anyone clarify? When the pool closes for the evening are the hot tubs still accessible or do they close as well?

Hoping someone might know the answer, so here goes:

We were moved to a 1br Savana view in Kidani from the WL due to construction. We are renting points directly from an owner. If available, would we be able to pay cash at check in to upgrade to Club Level?

Unfortunately no, definitely not. There's no connection between the the DVC and the cash stays, so you can't upgrade from a rental to a cash club stay. And you can't mix and match cash and points with DVC. And on top of that, the few club DVC rooms they have would never be available at check in, there are only a few of them, and they book up almost right away at 11 months out.

But instead take advantage of your kitchen in the 1BR at Kidani! You can buy cereal and milk for quick breakfasts or even buy eggs, bread, bacon, etc, and make real breakfasts. (We do the cereal. :) ). Enjoy your stay!

They are on the closer parts of the wings, but close is all relative. It's not right there, but not too far, either. You wouldnt want to be TOO close, because too close in doesn't give a great view of the animals. Your best best would be to request Zebra trail, so you would be closer to the pool. We were on Zebra trail our one club stay, and if we walked a little past our room we hit the next set of elevator banks that went right down to the pool and close to the Mara. Great location!

That's what I figured :( thanks for answering.

We're only there for 2 nights, flying in for Food & Wine, so I'm pretty bummed we moved further from Epcot, but we weren't given a choice. My H is mad about the move because he doesn't like the ethnic food served at the AKL TS restaurants so I was hoping I could make the stay a little more enjoyable. Oh well. We never had any desire to stay here so thankfully it's only 2 nights, we'll make it work.

It's not at all only ethnic food..On the contrary...There's soooo much to choose from at Boma's , that it'll blow you away...Best Buffet * ( hate that word here ) in all of WDW IMHO.. Sanaa , I would say yes, but even Jiko's get top reviews, and there are plenty of options here. Even the Mara is great.

Also You aren't that far from EPCOT...True if you're staying at BC/YC or BWI/V you are within walkin distance. But if you were planning on staying at a monorail resort, it's literally around the same distance/ or maybe time wise on the buses, honestly.... Maybe 10 mins. or so.

Is the DVC laundry room free? My DH told me he read that. Do we just scan our magic bands to get in?

We were able to extend our September trip by a night and figured instead of adding a night at All-Star Sports, let's see how this DVC point rental thing works...

So we're booked at AKL CLUB LEVEL! Just for the one first night, September 24, but we are SO excited! Anything special I should know about club level in general or the club level rooms at AKL?

At Kidani, It's over on the main floor. No band needed.Across from the Community Hall Center, and next to Arcade.

I believe there are 3 machines & 8 dryers. Free, because Kidani is technically all DVC.

Over at Jambo. DVC is the 5th floor & 6th is CL. There is a separate Laundry on that floor just around the 2nd corridor heading to the right savannah. I never even knew it was there until the last day. I believe that is by band or card only.

There's also the main one, which is down on the ground floor. just to the right of the arcade...Kinda big. But this ones costs $$$

HTH

Yes, thanks! We're in Jambo house so presumably 5th floor. I was planning to maybe do laundry once and take back only half as much dirty laundry, but with free I'll take all clean laundry if we have time! There is also a website where you can check the status (in use, available, etc) of washers!

Hello everybody! We just switched our resort from ASMu to AKL! This will be our first family trip to WDW. We have 2 boys aged 3 and 11 at the time of the trip. Our dates are 3/26/16-4/9/16. We are *beyond* excited!
