You were probably in Ranchos, But to me that is the most lush spot of the whole resort, & you're very close to the main pool, and noe there's food options over there as well. Along with it's own bus stop too.

We were in Casitas, which had the worse appeal ( in terms of decor ) but was very very close to everything... Except an 8 minute walk to the pool
...we were in Ranchos, Bldg 6A and its location was HORRIBLE.....

Beautifully themed though...We were supposed to be in that bldg...We asked and they switched us to Casitas 4..Ideal spot...So close to Laundry/GYM/Spa/ Quiet Pool/ Bus stop, & like a 3-4 minute walk to main bldg. El Centro.

.....we arrived very late in the evening [our flight left at 8PM on Christmas night] and got to the resort at almost 11:30 and I didn't have the DIS, so I didn't know any better....

Oh well, You shoulda splurged for that Commodore 64 pc back then in the 90's...LoL

AKL has dedicated bus service, but there are two stops - Kidani Village and Jambo House. All buses except the Downtown Disney bus stop at Kidani Village first.

I've never stayed at CSR so I can't hep you with that.
Do the buses ever fill up at Kidani before reaching Jambo? How often do buses run? About every 10 minutes?

.....I'm guessing during peak hours, but I've never personally seen it...

Thanks for the feedback on the AKL CL :) We are actually staying at CSR in two weeks so I can comment on the bus situation then. For us though "close" isn't important because we enjoy walking grounds and don't have a need to be close for mobility or kids reasons. We actually stay at the DLH in California and take the stroll through DTD over the monorail because of the walk. I think it comes to personal preference and needs but when I see 10 minute walk , I think to myself "Oh so my normal routine LOL".
To each their own for sure !

....good point. I think the ambiance and authentic immersion of the AKL FAR outweighs any 'extra' time spent on travelling on a bus to and from a park or any other Disney destination....

....truth be known, a good friend of mine only stays at GF and has been 'stuck' in a room on two separate occasions that were very far from the main pool and lobby. Granted, it IS a monorail resort but the grounds are extensive!

That's the beauty of DLR....Everything is soo close to each other...Even the DLH and the PPH which are the furthest, aren't all that bad of a walk. True when the scenery ( While walking is nice to look at ) helps a bit....It makes the time seem even shorter...We actually stayed in the GCV last Feb. And Man talk about about close.....Own entrance into the park..Talk about close..LoL

Have a great time at CSR...For this is one of our favs. for sure....

I've stayed in March (not near Easter) two years in a row. A lot of people boarded at Kidani. When the buses arrived at Jambo, the buses weren't full, but most of the time the seats were. If you wanted to get on at Jambo, you would have to stand for the ride to the theme park. (This would have been around 8:30 am. Trying to get to the parks early, but not worrying about getting there exactly at Rope Drop.)

So after a short weekend trip to Knoxville, I remembered how much I loathe staying in a hotel and the noise you inevitably hear there. I do realize that most people are not intending to be so loud, but they.....well, ARE! I was woken up the night before last by someone knocking on a door nearby at 1am and then last night was woken up around midnight with someone running up and down the emergency stairs and then this morning by a child running up and down the hallway. Not to mention the constant slamming of doors (I think I might be the only person in the traveling world who makes sure my doors don't slam behind me and tries to make sure my child isn't running up and down hallways screaming, no matter what time of day it is). Anyway, just wondering what some of your experiences have been at AKL with noise issues. I realize some noise comes with the territory but I also realize some resorts are louder than others (maybe due to thinner walls, etc.). We are staying at AKL Jambo House in a savanna view studio villa. Thanks for any responses!

Hi everybody! It's official, I made the change to AKL this morning and snagged FD with it. We're going Nov 14-20 and after a lot of back and forth about spending more than initially planned to stay at AKL, we made the decision and we're so excited!!

I think you might hear more noise in a studio than in a 1 bedroom. The bedroom portion of a one bedroom is on the window side and the bathroom is between the bedroom and the hall. So replies from people like me who have only slept in a 1 BR would not be helpful.

After several resort changes over the day (lol)...we are heading back to AKL from Nov 10-19. My daughters and I have all been there, but it'll be my husbands first time even setting foot in the resort. We are also celebrating our 10th anniversary!

That being said. I asked the CM on the phone if I could place a request to be far from any smoking areas, and she said that it's a smoke free resort. But I recall there being a DSM along the path to the buses? We booked standard this year (what kept it in budget) and I worry that the windows may face the bus path where the DSM is? Can anyone shed any light on this??

What are any other good requests for standard room placement? Hoping we can upgrade to pool view while discount is still out, but we will have to see!

Hi! We are going to be at AKV Kidani June 21-26 this year. Still thinking about which requests to make, if any. We will have a 1 bdrm savannah view. I'm sort of thinking just let it be, and see what we get. Is that crazy?
