Disney's ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE Information & Questions

I saw this question asked but not answered. If you book a standard view room, some of them have 1 queen and 1 bunk but it's not guaranteed I'm assuming. It looks like we can get a guaranteed bunk room by getting a pool view but that's $70/more per night for our dates and we're not looking to upgrade the view unless we have to.
My kids would be miserable in the same bed, so we're really only looking at AKL if we can get a bunk. Anyone have experience with requesting the bunk room with a standard view and getting it? Or not getting it?
....it's been a long while since we've had the need for a bunk room. [we had a bunk in both Zebra and Kudu Trails]. I know that they are more money but I cannot recall many that are with a standard view. You may just have to shell out that extra money...

I was looking at a list of room requests and Kudu trail was one of them. I am considering extending my stay and will be booking a standard room (if I can get it) and one of the things that is on the list to request is Kudu trail. I was wondering what standard view rooms in that area would overlook? Not staying DVC. Only ever been to AKL for dinner once and it was after dark so I'm not familiar at all but I do remember the lobby very well and it made me want to stay there.

Thanks. It was listed as one of the room requests, and though I don't expect anything cause I've booked standard, I thought it would be neat to maybe request and see what happens.

It's my understanding that some Kudu rooms have a view of the savannah but are still considered standard view rooms because it's not a prime view, so to speak. I believe they were reclassified due to complaints by some folks who paid for the upgraded view but received a less-than-stellar one. But what do I know? :)

We made the same request as you did for our trip next week, so it'll be a nice surprise to receive something besides what we'd deem to be a standard view (e.g. parking lot, walkways, etc.)

How do I find out which activities & days/nights they are offered while staying at the hotel? I am staying in Kidani village villa in May & would like to have some idea before I go.

I just found the April schedule, would May be similar?

Where did you find the schedule? Thanks!

....the schedule usually doesn't deviate much....maybe some small things, like a specific movie to be shown, etc.....

I just changed our res from pop to AKL pool view bunk bed! Super excited to go back to AKL!!!!

We are going back to our home resort in October! We've only stayed at Kidani once, but this time we'll be at Jambo. We have a 1 BR Savanna View. I'm still unsure where to request our room. I think if I understand correctly the DVC rooms are on the 5th and 6th floor, but beyond that, I don't know where is best. I have two little ones and we definitely want to use the pool a lot. I don't care about being where it's busier or nosier, just convenience.

Thanks for any help! Love this thread!

I stayed at a Kudu room last week and had a nice view of the savannah. The cast member I booked the room with told me that they are standard rooms because a "savannah room" guarantees you a 180 degree of the savannah. Our room (3382) was all the way at the end of the hallway and therefore our view to the left was part of the building. It didn't bother us at all though, we were just hoping to see ONE animal since we'd booked standard! We were also near the pens which was kind of neat because we could see them feeding the animals and letting them in and out in the mornings. The giraffes were let into our area at about 10 AM every day.

6th floor is DVC Club Level only. You will be on the 5th floor.

If your main concern is convenience, maybe you want to be near the elevator? We were on the Kudu trail. You had to walk quite a ways just to get to the elevator. Then you had to walk quite a ways after you got off the elevator, to get to the room.

Does king pin still make appearances in the shop? My DD13 wants to know if he is there. If he still his there, what days does he come?

We are seriously considering a December stay at AKL CL pending any free dining or bounceback offers as we leave May 9th. I have heard conflicting views about how AKL can feel isolated due to only bus service.
This would be our first deluxe and the CL seems reasonable overall for the dates we are seeking. For those that have stayed what are your thoughts ? It would just be DH and I likely first or second week in December.

I wouldn't say we felt "isolated," but we are considering staying at one of the Epcot resorts on our next trip for the easier and closer travel options. That being said, we never waited more than 5 minutes for a bus at the resort, and I think the longest bus ride was to MK (about 20 minutes). For just you and your husband, I think it would be fine. Maybe it's a little tougher for travelers with children who want to get to the park faster.

Got it, thanks! So being on 5th Floor, anyone else have an opinion on what to request? Thanks!
