What?? We are the 17th through the 23rd the other pool will still be open? That stinks.

We are the 12th-20th. The email states that the main pool will still be open - here is the email. Maybe it will be back up by the 17th and that's why you didn't get it? Here's hoping!!

July 2016

Dear Family,

We are delighted you have selected Disney's All-Star Sports Resort as your vacation destination!

In order to ensure we are continuing to enhance the Guest experience, it is necessary for us to refresh our offerings from time to time. We would like to make you aware that one of our two pools, Grand Slam Pool, will be unavailable due to routine maintenance during your stay. As an alternative, we invite you to make a splash at the Surfboard Bay Pool, located near the main lobby, Grandstand Spirits Pool Bar and End Zone Food Court.

Please know we are working to ensure your stay is both comfortable and enjoyable. We apologize for any inconvenience this work may cause and appreciate your understanding.

Should you need assistance with your reservation, please contact your original booking agent listed on your confirmation letter.

we are at ASSp November 12-19. had planned to walk over to ASMu as I like the theming of their pools anyway.

The Grand Slam Pool at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort will be closed from October 10 through December 2016. An exact reopening date has not yet been announced.

Won't bother me as I don't use the pools anyways. Maybe in a couple of years when I am several pounds lighter.

I never got that email about the pools
But not an issue as I don't use the pools when I do solo trips

I called Disney today and asked when did touchdown become preferred

CM told me it has been for some years
Told her I have stayed at touchdown the last 7 stays and never charged the extra for preferred

She explained that surfs up is completely preferred rooms
And touchdown has some preferred rooms and some standard rooms

CM said since I had standard room with a request for TD in past visits, I was places there since availability not an issue

Was also told that TD is on my reservation and the scheduler will try to honor it if it is available

Only those that book preferred for TD will be guaranteed they will get it

So I guess that means it is a maybe I get standard room without a view at TD

Now if others call, who knows if they will get a different answer....

For those that booked way before this info was posted here about TD status, the CM told me since the building was already a preferred building for over flow, they do try to allow standard rooms be used in 7 and 10 when possible

Thanks for calling and posting the info you received. I've been to Disney many times and I realize that it is only a request and that they don't have to honor my request even though I hope they will. I was just surprised at this since its the first time I heard it. I did on line check in and requested TD so we will see what happens when I check in in Sept. We went to the dark side last year after not being in 20 years and you were very helpful with info on the Universal boards.

And I'm still posting on the darkside to help newbies
It is hard to go to a park you know nothing about

We have all been in situations like that before

I do both motherland and darkside on long stays each year
Could not be in Orlando and miss either one of them

Since you did a request for TD in advance, the TM told me on the phone they try to honor them
If standard rooms are available you can be scheduled there without being preferred

So far my stays in the year I have been put at TD without going with a preferred booking

We stayed at All Star Sports from July 3rd to July 6th. On July 1st, I got a call asking if I wanted to upgrade to a preferred room for $15 a night. I asked if I had already been assigned a room and the CM told me that I had been assigned a room in Touchdown but that I could get Surf's Up for $15 more a night. I was very happy with Touchdown and said no thanks.

Upon arrival, I received a text with a room assignment in Homerun. I was disappointed and went to the front desk to ask why I had been moved. I was told that Touchdown was now preferred and had been preferred for TWO MONTHS (quite different than the two years they told you about). She said I could upgrade to Touchdown for $15 a night. We declined. I told her I had received a call that told me I would be in Touchdown and she shrugged it off and told me that ALL Touchdown rooms were preferred.

One would hope the CMs would know what was going on. Until they do, we won't.

AtlantaDisneyDreamer, yes, that is typical of Disney

Give one answer to one guest and another to the next guest. Lol
We might as well flip a coin and see what will really happen when we call

I was transferred to the resort hotel when I asked the question so it seemed believable or I wouldnt have posted it

I'll don't check in until later in September so I will return and let all know if I get TD or be out in the boonies

Overheard while walking to End Zone behind a South American Tour Group:

Mother:"Honey,I think that group is Argentina-aren't they the ones that ran you over yesterday?"

Daughter:"No,that was Brazil-Argentina ran me over the day before."!lol:)

Life at Sports in July has to be experienced to understand!lol:)

I am looking for information on HC room, King and Double with Rollin shower. Just curious how the 2 beds fit.
All Star Sports:)

We usually stay at AOA but are looking for a cheaper option since we are going during a race weekend (which I am in 2 races). I didn't read through all the posts but wanted to ask, what building are preferred ones? Since we have 4 children, we are looking for adjoining room, we looked at floor plans and saw there is rooms that have king beds adjoined with ones that have 2 full beds. Are we able to specify we want that vs 2 adjoining rooms with full beds?
