Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MUSIC Resort

Little plastic cups next to ice bucket. 4/room. I imagine if you left a note they'd leave as many as you needed. We use our mugs for ice water so we never used them!
cold cups only,I imagine?

Can anyone explain the Luggage Assistance process to me?

My mom who recently had major surgery and 7 year old do not need to be lugging up heavy bags to a 3rd floor room. I don't mind if I have a cart to carry them up on my own, but if there is a way I can have them delivered to the room while we are in the park, it would be great. I'm already telling my mother to pack light in case I have to do the loading/unloading on my own. Our last stay was at Pop and the parking lot was quite a distance from the room (but I had DH for help w/the heavies). Lugging up heavy luggage is not a highlight of my vacation I'm looking forward to. Leaving will be much easier because we will not be pressed for time as much and I can make several leisurely trips.

Has anyone had experience with luggage assistance? Also where do you pick up/borrow a luggage cart at ASMu? If I'm doing it on my own I at least want to have a cart to make the job easier!

There are 2 ways it can be done. First is when you pull in, and where the buses unload you can unload your car right onto a cart and the bell desk will bring it up to your room when you call.

Or you can borrow one of their carts (if one is available) by just giving a drivers license or I believe a credit card. They will hold onto it, until you return the cart to the bell desk.

We pack heavy for our trips, including water, coffee pot, and loads of other things, so being able to cart it up or unload and have someone bring it up in one trip really helps.

Hi everyone! We will be heading to ASMu in November of this year for 10 (maybe 11) nights... My boys are very into music (hence the resort choice) and I'm really hoping to get into either Broadway or Jazz (they play flute & sax/bassoon, so the theming is appropriate). My question is - how long a walk are these buildings to the Bus Stop? I'm not worried about a 5min walk, but someone once made it sound to me like it's a 3ml trek at the end of a long day. As we also have a 4yr old, I'm hoping that's not true.

Has anyone stayed in one of these buildings that can give me a real idea on the distance we'll be walking? Thanks!!

It's definitely not a 3 mile trek, lol. ;) Broadway is further back, but not a horrendous walk by any means.

It's probably a 5-6 minute walk from furthest point to furthest point on the property. Not that far from the bus to Jazz or Broadway.

Try to get into Jazz, the walk would be about 2-3 minutes to the bus unless you walk really slowly.

Broadway is the furthest, have stayed in the building twice. While it isn't a 3mi walk, If you are on the 3rd floor it isn't 5-6 minutes either.

I'd suggest Jazz as it is closer, and if you are alright with it, a first floor room. It will cut down on travel time to and from the bus stop.

Stayed here last week for a few days....we got the farthest out room possible...back out by the woods in country fair, the walk was long.:thumbsup2 very very long. I personally didn't like that aspect of the setup- I have stayed Pop out by the lake, with no problem, the layout is very stretched out. Jazz wasn't too bad, I would have been happier there. We didn't have mugs or anything,so we didn't go to main building except to catch the bus.( which btw was very well setup) one other note, the pools have VERY limited hours  like they close by 8 every night....that kind of stinks....the room we got was clean enough, but needed some tlc for sure. Heck,we got a great deal on orbitz,so no real complaints, but I prefer Pop in every way.....for values-:cool1: overall it's fine, but the pool thing was not cool, the lobby was full of kids at night with nothing to do! They know most folks stay out thru dinner time,so what's with those hours?

I just returned from a 5 night stay at Music over the President's Day Long Weekend & had a mixed experience. My online check-in preferences were honoured and I had a great room in the Jazz Building overlooking the central courtyard. I really loved the New Orleans style fountain and courtyard & found it to be a beautiful touch. I was given a King bed in a wheelchair accessible room that was incredible. The King Bed was a gift and the much larger bathroom was wonderful. The room was very clean and mousekeeping was exceptional. However, the main building/lobby is under construction . . . they are doing an extensive floor re-tiling . . . and this meant there was no access from check-in to the food court and on to the rest of the resort. You had to go back outside, walk around the end of the building, and then double-back to the pool area to get to your room. The same thing to get to the buses to and from each day. The gift shop was also cut off and the only way to access it for park purchase pickups, to get milk for the room, etc. was to walk around the end of the building outside. I had an early international flight on departure so with a 3:20 am magical express pickup, I found myself walking in the dark, without good lighting, around the end of the building to get to the bus pickup. If I had known about the construction, I likely would have changed to any of the Pop, All-Star Sports or Movies. Also, you could not wait inside the doors of the check-in area and still see the Magical Express bus stop. This meant standing alone in the dark, and on that morning the cold, to catch the shuttle to the airport. This is not a great set-up for women traveling on their own or with small children. There were student marching bands staying at the resort but except for one student throw-up on the bus back from the Magic Kingdom, they weren't a problem. I think they had been placed in the farther buildings (eg Country Fair, Rock or Broadway). I have stayed at the Pop for the past 3 years and found their busing system to be faster and more efficient. The bus sharing with the other all star resorts did not work well over a busy long weekend and one morning we waited close to 40 minutes for a bus. There were very few dedicated park buses for the Music over the busy long weekend. All Star Sports would fill many buses in the morning and they would not stop at either Music or Movies because of full capacity. Would I stay at Music again? Probably, yes if Pop was not available and once their lobby construction is complete. I wouldn't recommend Music until the construction is done. The construction is simply too disruptive if you are using the park buses and Magical Express to the airport. I have stayed in Moderate and Deluxe resorts in the past but find that since I spend the entire day in the parks, I just don't use the extra amenities. Value resorts work the best for me as I am really just looking for a clean, safe room at the end of the day. Perhaps my experience was just a one off, particularly given the busy long weekend and such an early Magical Express departure time. Hoping that others have had a more positive experience and stay!

We stayed in the Broadway section last summer. I had read that it was a long walk, so we were really surprised when we arrived - it was super quick! Everyone has a different perspective, but the walk from the bus stop to our third floor room was no more than 5 minutes for us (and our youngest was 7 at the time - a very tiny 7.) But we're an active family (swimmers, runners) so maybe that's why it seemed short to us. On the other hand, I just ran it on google maps and it shows .3 mile distance/5 minute walk from Melody Hall to the middle of Broadway.

I too just returned from a 10 day stay at ASMusic. How true that it is all about perspective. My party consisted of DH, DD9, DD7, DS 5 and we walked all around all 3 resorts on our off park days to check the 3 out. I did not think that County Fair or Broadway were too far out, although it did seem that they put all the big groups (there were quite a few of them!!) in the back areas. Our stay a few years back in the little mermaid rooms were a much longer walk. Our family is also an active family though! We stayed 3rd floor Jazz in a family suite, facing the courtyard and I was surprised how quiet it was! We were right between both pools so the kids could pick which one to go to. We picked a family suite so each kid would have their own bed. We liked the food prep area, coffee maker and microwave. Our fridge seemed bigger too. The new food court was nice. There were many healthy options.

Some of the cons- we too had more transportation issues that we have ever had, and we have stayed at 5 different resorts. I am not much a complainer and pretty laid back about it, but it seemed that we had bad luck on quite a few occasions. We gave ourselves 90 minutes to get to Hoop De Doo Revue and we ended up having to take a cab after waiting 40 min for a MK bus. All the other parks came and went 2 times. Concierge did refund our taxi fare, which was nice. At night (esp if the big groups came back at the same time!) it seemed that we waited a long time. The construction is part of life and good to see that they are rehabbing the resort but it was a little annoying to walk around the full building. I didnt even know we had a gift shop until the 2nd day! Also, I checked in with the 3 kids at 2:45 AM after a long delayed flight. There was only one person at the desk and a small group in front of me was starting their check in from start. It took 30 minutes to get all their room/bands/credit charges/my dis experience all that junk figured out. Meanwhile, I knew mine would take 5 minutes! My kids were troopers because we didnt get in our room until 3:30am.

Would we stay there again? My husband would say no :) My kids would say YES! It is a value for sure. We had one of our best disney trips yet and aside from more bus issues than we were use to and that horrible check in situation, we really enjoyed our stay there. If your family is going at a busy time (pres week/mardis gras week was MOBBED!!!) I would consider POP for better transportation. If you are looking for a fun clean spot to get a good nights sleep and have the Disney Perks this place is perfect!

On our way home now, just wanted to note that the construction is already better. Partway through our stay they opened up part of the construction so you can at least get to the gift shop from the lobby--like a previous poster I didn't even know it was there until the second or third day! Still have to walk around the building to get to the buses though. But even the small bit they've opened up helps a lot, it wasn't very welcoming when we arrived and is much nicer now.

Check in was really slow and obnoxious, but we also didn't get there until after midnight when they were way understaffed.

We've only stayed at pop before and honestly this was pretty comparable though I think I liked the pop cafeteria better... They're the motels of the Disney experience, and we got basically what we were expecting.

Excited to be staying here in July:woohoo:
We originally wanted to stay at POR but we couldn't get in. Friends suggested CBR but honestly after comparing several hotels my kids (DD20, DS15) seemed to like this resort the best so we figured we'd give it a go. We will really only spend one day at the resort which will be after an 18 hr drive so I imagine that will be laying by the pool. We have 3 parks days then checking out of Disney and heading to the beach part of our vacation.
We did not book a preferred room, we plan to hang mostly by the piano pool.
It seems most people in non-preferred rooms seem to request either Broadway or Jazz. As someone who travels to the city often, I wouldn't really appreciate Broadway. Kids are hoping to stay at the Rock Inn. I'm wondering if I should bother requesting it, or just see where they put us - I do think Jazz is very pretty and I actually really like the Country Fair theme.

I was also wondering if anyone can post some pics once all the construction is done. I'm curious if those cheesy looking singers will be removed from the cafeteria or perhaps that part of the charm:rotfl:

Does anyone know how long the construction will take? I have tacked 2 nights at ASMu onto the end of my trip. Should it be done by May 5? If not, I am switching resorts pronto!!

If we're talking about the food court "construction" or renovation, it was complete in December 2014. The new food court is similar to the food court changes at All-Star Sports.

No the construction Miss Whimsy and frozenfan5 refer to.

The food court renovation was done in December 2014. The work in the lobby area was done as early as February 23. Your May trip will be fine.

I was here mid February and the construction of the tile floor in the lobby was a major issue. I will defer to others who have been since that date whether it is now complete. The food court renos were done before Christmas so that is good. For the earlier poster who mentioned whether to be in Jazz, Rock or Broadway, I stayed in Jazz on top floor & would definitely recommend that. Jazz isn't preferred so doesn't cost extra but it is one of the closer buildings to the bus stops/main bldg at the end of the day when you get back from the park. That extra 5 mins or so less walking is worth it at the end of a long day or if you have young kids or pre-teens walking alone in the dark to the food court for soda refills or arcade at night. If you are doing online check-in, make your preferences 1) closest to bus stops/main bldg (since you can't select Jazz specifically) and 2) top floor for less noise from those walking/passing through. Have a great vacation!

Thanks, the walk at the end of the resort is pretty much a non-issue for us. If we are going to be walking miles in the parks a few extra minutes should be fine. When we stayed at Poly we always walked from the TTC back to Poly so I don't imagine this being much different. I just never see Rock mentioned so I'm guessing if we want to stay there it shouldn't be a problem and one I may not want to request. We have 2 rooms so my major concern is that they are somewhat near each other. I do plan to ask about a top floor room though if at all possible.

For those of you who stayed recently, what was your opinion of the new food court? It looks great from the pictures that I have seen. I'm curious to hear about everyone's recent experiences and opinions about the menu items. :thumbsup2
