Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MUSIC Resort

Hello,

We just switched from POR to AS Suites for spring break. I had a few questions.

1- Any word on the foodcourt refurb?

2- Do all rooms have new fridges now?

3-How bad is the bus sharing?

We will be in the family suites & I requested Calypso non pool view. Anyone have a comment on that location?

Thank you!!:cutie:

The foodcourt was renovated just a few years ago -- like 2-3 years. all new floor tile etc. But it looks pretty much the same as it did before.

All rooms have fridges, but family suites always had them. Your locating is as close as you can get to the main building without people passing your room to get to it ie. on the back side of the building either facing a lawn or shrubbery. Most of the theming you can see there is the railings on the balconies.

Since you've been to POR you know about bus sharing, just that's within the same resort. The All Stars are smaller resorts so each of them only has 1 bus stop. At times one bus will stop at all 3 resorts -- the up side to this is more frequent bus service than you'd get at resorts that don't share buses.

Ok, just booked 3 nights the first week of June. Moving off property after that.

We have a standard room and likely will hit the parks hard those 3 days and not worried about pool time. We'll do that after we move off property.

Curious what you would suggest for a building/room request. Want to be able sleep during normal nighttime hours without listening to people yelling from food court or pool. We are driving and unsure whether we want to use bus service or not (never stayed on property but like the convenience of coming and going as we please). So, not sure if we want to be near a bus stop, but definitely want a place that's near our car.

I would appreciate any suggestions or feedback as to what requests we may want to make.
Thanks for any input!

I've never experienced people yelling from the food courts. You said you usually stay offsite so you probably have the wrong idea. Quiet times are enforced throughout the resort and this is necessary not just because of the groups staying there but also for the groups staying there. A lot of kids are competing and really need to sleep.

The whole resort gets pretty quiet soon after the movie ends and the lifeguards go off duty at 10 pm. But even so, since every room door is an exterior door you'll find it quieter in the rooms than in hotels with interior hallways.

There is only one bus stop. It's not beside any of the rooms

I had always called in my requests and then last year I did them online... I got NONE of what I requested. So I'm going back to calling them in. Since we want things others usually try to avoid (like facing the pool in Calypso) we can probably get them. You can request any building except Calypso -- that's the preferred area which you'd have to pay extra for.
ok that is helpful thank you kindly :-) I have an accessible room so am hoping I can request a groundfloor room. I agree I think calling is more successful :-)

They have two. One in each bathroom area.

FYI...just arrived today, and we do not have a safe in our family suite. So either they aren't in all of them or they've been removed since your last visit. Wouldn't have changed our planning though...so no big deal.

Was bummed it was too cold for swimming today. In fact they had the pools closed the whole day. Looking forward to warming weather the next few days!

From pics looks like they are on wall behind curtain somewhat in bathroom closet area.

Yep...just came back to say I found them. I was looking for a bulky stand alone type thing. The stealthy in wall safe' sell eluded me!

Yep I was surprised by the location in the photos. I would have expected them in middle of wall or someplace visible.

It may be the only wall in the room that doesn't require insulation, fireproofing or have pipes or wires running through it. So the only place really. Family suites were once two separate rooms.

Just found out they are doing a total renovation in the food court in the fall similar to what was done at Movies. So extensive that the food court will be closed from end of August til mid December. Music guests will have to eat at the other AS resorts during that time. For all of those affected I hope they at least set up something for the morning coffee

Similar to last fall's project at All-Star Sports, you mean? Do you have any pointers to this announcement for Music?

For Sports, during the construction, the arcade was turned into a grab-n-go area with some limited food items and beverage service. We can assume the same thing will happen if/when Music has a food court update.

A CM told us this on Monday because they're being moved as well. He said Movies though -- but we haven't seen either yet.

I have no idea which resort it would be but the food court at Movies has always been much nicer than the others. Music would seem to be the better choice.

It has been 6 years since I stayed at All Star Music so this thread has helped with keeping me updated about any major changes!

I have read the walk to the buses isn't bad, but I'm curious how far it really is as I'm thinking after a long day at the parks, I may be too worn out to walk!
I remember one time we spent all day, 12 hours at Epcot. After Illuminations, I didn't think I'd make it back to the front of the park! Of course, I know better now.

But, for example, how far is it from say the Broadway building to the bus stop. Just want to get an idea.
Thanks!

I really isn't that bad. Maybe a 3-4 minute walk. It certainly is not as far as the walk from Illuminations back to the bus at Epcot.

Interesting--we're going at the end of August. Is is a big inconvenience to eat at a different food court? We're doing breakfast in the room, so it would be the occasional lunch or dinner on a pool day.

Makes me less likely to get the refillable mugs if I'd also have to walk to another AS resort to fill them!

I would say it is about as far as the walk from the front of Epcot to the bus as an example.

They will likely do like they did at sports and close the arcade and make it a makeshift food court with just refrigerated items like cold sandwiches and bottled drinks. They also had a refill station for drinks.
