Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

Mighty Ducks and Love Bug are the only Standard locations. Everything else is Preferred.

Hey everyone, Almost trip time for us!!! Just a little over 3 weeks!

FYI- Just wanted to let some newer people know that there are fridge Swaps that are free to join, where you can use a fridge for free!!! There is currently 2 available for the All Stars resorts!

that is exactly why we are requesting Herbie section...refuse to pay more for a preferred. On the other hand, we are trying to stay away from MD section:rotfl2:

I thought all Dalmations were preferred, but I could be wrong

Thanks for that info! That helps a lot. DS said he didn't really care if he stayed at Buzz or Woody but I am going to ask him if he would like to stay at Dalmatians. I think he would really enjoy that. I don't mind paying Preferred if the theming is something he really would enjoy but if he could care less I would just as well save the money.

Oh no. What's wrong with the Mighty Duck section? That's the section I requested for DH and I for October. I thought we'd be close to both Music and Movies.

C&G, you said you stayed in Mighty Ducks. Was it convenient to use the buses at AS Sports? From the maps it looks like you can just walk across a parking lot to their bus stop if the one at ASMo is busy. Also, coming home from the parks if there is a bus for ASSports and not for ASMo you could take that bus and be close to your room.
Not All Star Sport but yes for All Star Music. Especially if you are on an end wing. Closer for Building 3 than bldg 2 but 2 is still close. We don't use busses but walked over to Music often for the food court (which is in the main building where the buses are) and Calypso pool. My DB and DSIL were in Bldg 3 and did use buses a couple of times and use Music.

We love Mighty Ducks for the reason it was so close to everything. The only reason we almost didn't stay there was because the big Mask scared the heck out my now 8yo when we was 2 :scared1: but he was fine this time. We like that the Duck Pond Pool is right between the 2 buildings. We found the pool to be very quiet. It was a close walk over to Music for the food court and Calypso Pool and if you use the buses it's a short walk.

But at the same time the Movie main building is a comparatively short distance from the standard rooms compared to for example: AS Music or CBR. But if you're taking the buses and your tired at the end of the day the very short walk from Music to Mighty Ducks is probably a welcome treat.

Just remember if you pay for preferred you're not guaranteed which preferred section they'll put you in. You can make a request but it's not guaranteed. You already knew that though. :)

Oh sorry!! There is nothing wrong with the MD area! Just that my boys do not like hockey, and mostly my younger DS has Asperger's and the hockey masks are creepy to him. He can't get past that:confused3 We have always stayed in the TS section but now that it is preferred, they like the looks of the Herbie section. We swim in the Fantasia pool too....won't go near that Duck pond pool! BUT yes it is very very close to the Music bus stop, foodcourt of that is convenient for you;)

That's funny! My son is also an Aspie and was wary of staying at MD again but he was okay this time. He was about 2 yo (before he was diagnosed) and I couldn't go near the masks without him screaming so we'd have to go around. Believe me, I totally get it!

He also said he doesn't want to stay there because "he doesn't play hockey!" Talk about literal:confused: Last time we were at ASMO he was 4. then we switched to POP or AKL the last couple years. I really want to go back to ASMO since they are redo-ing the rooms and that is where we took the boys from the time they were babies!:lovestruc I will keep a watch out for some new pics:woohoo: thanks everyone!

Thanks, yes I did know that :) but I am hoping that with a slow-ish time of year check in date (12/14 - although with the free DP who knows now) and getting there at what I am guessing will be a decent check in time (2:30pm plane landing = 4:30-5pm check in with ME?) I am hoping we get lucky because I showed DS6 the Dalmatians buildings last night on the computer and he was very excited. His words were "Oh yeah! I'm going there!"

that might not be all that slow. I assume Pop Werner will be gone by then, but early/mid Dec has been becoming pretty busy over the past few years.

So if we want a rehabbed preferred should we request dalmations? Is that a bad building to be in?

What time do the pools close now? If your swimming at closing time do they kick you out or is it similar to the parks where they just start herding you out of the pool area?

I can't speak from experience of staying in Dalmations but I would think the location would be fine. It wouldn't be far from either pool or the main building. Like I've said, we've only stayed at Mighty Ducks.

We stayed at CBR last year and had really intended on staying either a CSR or Poly (if finances allowed) but the more we have studied everything we are actually thinking of going to ASMo.

Our DS4 really loves Toy Story, near obsession (haha) and we will probably spend more time out and about than at the resort. We also eat in the parts and hardly take any dining at the resorts.

How do you guys think we would adjust going from a Mod to a Value? Personally, I think our children will really enjoy ASMo but, I'm not sure if we would miss any amenities.

Our family does like having a beach nearby as we did outside our room at CBR but I hardly doubt it would be a deal breaker. It appears that we can get a Fridge which is important since our youngest son has been diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis and some meds/foods need to be refrigerated. The buses were great at CBR and I understand it can be quite full between the AS Resorts sharing. Our plan is to attend Star Wars weekend next year for our son who also loves SW as much as he does Toy Story.

Thanks for any and all clarifications and insight in advance. The forum has really answered the majority of my inquiries.

We have tried all the resorts and while POLY and BC are sweet, there is nothing at all wrong with the values. We have also stayed at POP twice and loved it. Our only real complaint was the little towels, but not worth the extra $1,500 for Poly!

The pools do not have slides or zero entry, but the food courts have more variety and the bus service is much better, at least with Pop.

We are likely going to stay at ASMo for the first time for the Marathon in January to save some $$$ and the kids are begging to stay there for the theme anyway!

I would check to make sure a high school sports competition is not going on like the cheerleaders around March 10.

You can get a fridge for $10/day, so do factor that into your costs since you need it compared to the MOD.

Have a great trip! :goodvibes

Because of your sons illness, you can request a fridge and get it free due to medical reasons. Just get a note from the doctor stating that your son has medications that need to be refridgerated. We do this for my grandaughters meds.

We stayed at ASMovies this past May/June. We stayed in MD bldg 2 but the kids really wanted to explore Andy's room over at the Toy Story building

We stayed at CBR once, wasn't for us. Deluxe would be grand but I can't justify the extra expense and prefer going more often. My kids love the activities by the pool. And if your 4yo loves Toy Story he'll be in heaven. I can't speak to transportation as we have our own car with us but by DB and DSIL took the buses a couple of times and it was fine.

Here are some pictures.
