Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

I have the same question too! In your trips with a non-preferred room, what is the best choice to be close to the bus and food court?

is it 3 days or 5 days before your reservation to call in room requests? I already have it on my reservation but I wanted to make sure.

Okay I'm wondering if it is just me that feels this way.

I have 2 kids and well, a big kid I'm married to. I was thinking that since we are getting 40% off any hotel right now until Dec 23rd that we would upgrade to a moderate or even deluxe (maybe shortening our trip for the dlx). Well, I got to looking at the hotels, and maybe 1 or 2 of them max would appeal to our kids in a small bit. My hubby didnt even like the look of some of them (they looked toooooo stuffy for us). The Cont we might do if it were just us, or AKL. Then Moderates were better themed for the kids, but when I looked at the price of the values and the themes I knew that was the place for us. Not because we are cheap rednecks, but because I would be afraid that my kids would disturb someone at the dlx, and that my kids wouldnt enjoy the theming (excpet maybe the pirate rooms) as much at the moderates.

I feel the same way. I have looked at mods thinking they may be closer to parks but then I know my children will go ga-ga over the theme at Movies. The kids won't be small forever, so I figure we'll do Movies while they are little.

My theory was confirmed when I saw my cousin yesterday. They had stayed at a mod for their honeymoon several years ago and knew they would stay at one of the All Stars when they had children. Last year they took their two year old and stayed at Movies and LOVED every minute of it - and they were there in July. That reassured me for my upcoming August trip.

Good luck with your decision!

I wish to stay in ASMO for my birthday! I really love to stay in my favorite movie Fantasia!

I'm not the "expert" to speak on this, since I've only stayed on site once, and that was at ASMo (and if you saw any of my prior posts, you know I liked it.)
Since that trip didn't end my Disney obsession:confused3, I often think of returning, and where we'd like to stay. I would love to upgrade to a mod for the pool slide, but would miss the great food court unless it were as good as ASMo's.
But also, I don't know if DD would be happy with any of the mods. They look nice (and we were originally booked for one), but I'm sure she'd miss all the giant icons and the Disneyfied pools.
We went to the GF twice this trip, though (once for tea and once for her Wonderland Tea Party), and surprisingly, she did say she wants to stay there some day. FWIW, so would I! I think it is gorgeous, and despite not having Disney characters all around, at least it has the monorail and boat to MK, so the proximity helps it keep that Disney feeling. But the mods? I just don't know? Maybe when she gets older and can really appreciate the CSR pyramid?

First let me say that there are lots of kids at the deluxe resorts so I would NOT worry that your kids would be disturbing anyone.

I've got to say I am much more of a fan of the value resorts than the moderates. The food courts at the values do work better for my picky eaters and I think the values manage the crowds better than the moderates. I like that the values have queues for the busses leaving from the resorts-it can be a zoo at the moderates. The values are really fun.

My kids have been to many resorts and while my DS(8) would say AKL is his favorite and my DD(10) would say Poly they would both probably put Pop or All Star as their 2nd favorites-they would put the moderates on the bottom of their lists.

Lots of folks really love the moderates and I can see the appeal for others. I must admit I do like the deluxe resorts but I love the values too and have always had a great trip when I stayed in one.

Our family LOVES the ASMo:love:We find the food court food absolutely delicious and very economical--and the choices perfect for kid appetites. The laundry facilities are neat, clean, and well stocked; pools sparkling and tables and beach chairs clean and well tended. The rooms are standard motel size and mousekeeping is wonderful. The Values have always appealed to us because we want to go every year and don't want to spend a dime more for a resort room than necessary. I have to say I have no other frame of reference as far as resorts, but that's our choice:cool2: As far as rehabs, we've been there during the Toy Story section, main pool, and Fantasia rehabs and it's not been a factor at all in our stay--hardly noticable other than the construction signs. We'll be happily back at our ASMo on June 19:woohoo:

Our family feels the same way. Values are perfect for us. We have never had a problem and we have been throug rehabs before there. No big deal.
Enjoy your trip. We arrive late on June 18th.
