Celebration was designed as a sustainable community - that is, you could walk to work as a cashier at Goodings or take the public transportation up World Drive to wait tables at a WDW resort… and still own a home in Celebration. A concept that nobody under 40 would ever believe.
Disney caught some flack as homes in Celebration were selling at a premium over the average home in Orlando… which was less than $80k. They reminded this by providing grants to some home buyers.
Celebration was an enclave and looked like Leave It To Beaver. As the area filled in, it drastically changed. And features like transportion up World Drive to WDW never came to be.
Just can’t compare Celebration to Storybook communities. Only wealthy people will be able to afford the overall cost of living at the latter. Not even senior managers at WDW will be able to afford it.
