I havent seen anything on the boards about this and am looking for input, whats it like, would it be fun for 2 boys 7 and 9, is it just a giant arcade and is it open later than the parks, i know its not located in a park but is it doable after a park?

I have not been there since 99

We ( myself, husband and then 7 yr old LOVED it.)

We were going to go for a few hours on our last day before heading out ( driving home ). When we finally left we were shocked that it was DARK out  . We ended up being in there something like 6-8 hours !!!
Needless to say we did not get very far that night :p

I can't remember I think it is 3 floors. Back then it had lots of arcade games, virtual games and lots of other stuff.. ( to long for me to remember ) . I always said that it was well worth the money for us and we go back again, actually we are this Oct.

p.s. they have a Cheesecake factory inside ( again they did back in 99 ) YUMMY

We were there in July and my DS 10 And DN 11 loved it so much the first day we went (we spent about 8 hours there ) that they asked to go again the next free day we had.

The earlier you go the less crowded it is. We have two boys who absolutely love it and would go every trip if it was up to them. Don't go on a rainy day though. It gets very crowded and not a lot of fun. It is on every list of things to do on rainy days. Go on the nicest day possible. Once inside, you'll forget how nice it is outside and be able to do everything without a wait.

Here is how I would describe Disneyquest. Its a lot of arcades but with a twist. Most of the big stuff is a giant arcade and you are a player in the game. Most of them are based on Disney rides and you get to take part in a role similar to the story line. Imagine being on a boat and being one of the pirates trying to sink iother boats. You litterly run around shooting cannons at other ships getting the gold.

Another example: You sit in a rubber raft and paddle. The virtual game is on a screen and you move the direction you would if you really paddled a boat. This one has waves and the raft bounces and you get misted too when you go through a waterfall.

Another example: Ranger Spin. You sit in a little car with a driver and a person to pick up balls and shoot them at another car. When you hit the target they spin uncontrollably. I love that part. lol

As you see the games are different than your standard fare. They do have typical games you see at your local arcade too. They are dotted all around the other games and in some central areas you find more than others. They are all free unless they give out prizes or tickets then they cost extra. Most are free.

I am 40 something and I love Disneyquest!!

I know DQ is open later - like 11:30 - does it get any less crowded late in the evening - like 9 or 10 on?

I doubt that it gets less crowded as the night wears on. We always go right when it opens so we can do Pirates a couple of times before the place gets too crowded. When it's the only place open, the teens and young adults (Plus those who think they are young) will pack the place. I could see them trying to shoo people out of the place at closing time.

don't try it on a weekend...we kept putting off going having already bought the tickets and went on a sat( our last day), the line was enormous! mid week we had walked right past it with no one there , live and learn! we're going Weds this time.

Here is my experience with DQ.

In MAy we went once in the day time and almost no crowds. at about 11am on a weekday

In the same trip we went once at about 1ish on a Friday and it was very crowded with school groups they left about 4pm but we had to go shortly after too for our Cirque Solei showing.

We also went that same trip on a Tuesday at 8PM while it was a little crowded we didnt wait for many things.

This last trip we went at 10:30Pm thinking it was open until midnight but it was closing at 11PM. They let us in and we did Jungle Cruise and made our own roller coaster to ride before it closed. It was defintly not crowded and it was a Monday night in August, the 9th (School went back that day for local folks so this could be why it was uncrowded) It was suppose to be open until Midnight the remiandr of the week but thanks to Hurricane Charley Down Town was closed the later part of the week and we never made it there again.

It gets a lot more crowded as the night goes on. Many locals come as well as those on vacation. The earlier the better.
