I read somewhere that DisneyQuest is closing in 2008. Can anyone tell me if this is this true? :)

Thank you
Lyndon.

I hope not! My kids really enjoyed this year-we left them to it after about an hour or so (we just did Pirates, Mighty Ducks & the Bumper Car thingys). We had a look around Downtown Disney -which they find a bit boring! Nice to have a couple of hours to ourselves.

when we were there in november, it looked like they had invested a bit in it since the last time we were there....so maybe they're not going to close it just yet....
we also love it...

Thats good because last time we went only half the things were working, hope they do keep it going.

I understood it was planned to close sometime 2008, but maybe there's been a reprieve. It has got steadily more run down each time we've visited. We saw lots of things which were not operational last time, it was very poor. I think Disney underestimated the investment needed to keep up with technology when they opened DisneyQuest, it may have been cutting edge when it first opened it's doors but now many families have superior technology in their living rooms.

It would be nice to see it brought up to date and kept open, it's a good place to while away a rainy day.

we thought that too when we were there 2 years ago...
but in november, DD and i went twice and while they hadn't invested a lot, it did look like they were at least trying to maintain it better than before..
and they'd moved things around a bit, as well as added a few (minor) new things...

so maybe they're not going to close it...but at least it didn't look as forlorn as the last time we were there....(when it was really run down looking)...

I found a lot of things were broken when I went as well. You'd think if they can keep the big theme parks running and up-to-date they would be able to do that with DisneyQuest as well.

To be honest I don't think it would be a great loss. Not at all impressed when we were there last year. Pity we paid for one admission. Had 4 old passes which still included it from a few years ago.
Definately not something I would pay for. Pity cos thought it would be good as girls love all that kind of stuff.
Thing that spoilt it most for me was bad mannered children who didn't wait their turn for things and barged on infront of mine. Parents were not that much better. As said before quite a few things not working or kept breaking down.

We found enjoyment of DQ is totally dependant on how busy it is, been a couple of times and really enjoyed it, stayed all day, but last time it was busy, it was a nightmare. Would never visit on a rainy day as lots of others do.
Now DS is almost 14 I doubt we will go again unless they spent a lot on a refit.

when DD and i went in november we lucked out...
it wasn't busy at all either of the two times we were there...
i think we went in the afternoon, but honestly can't remember...but it definitely wasn't raining as it didn't rain a single drop when we were there..

we really had a fun time...
one of the times, we went on cyberspace mountain 3 times (building different rides each time)...we practically had the place to ourselves...the CMs all stood around laughing at us as we rode each time...
the 3rd time we finally bought the CD (DS and DH couldn't stop laughing when they saw the CD of our ride when we got back home from the states)...
they didn't have CDs the last time we were at DQ...

as for broken attractions, this had the be the first time in years that every single one of the astroblaster cars was working when we rode it...not a single car out of commission....i couldn't believe it...

and all the arcade shooting games were working.....another first as far as i can remember....

they also added a few dance machines (and moved them to a different location)...so we were able to use those to our heart's content, without having to wait in neverending lines...

we didn't do any of the virtual reality attractions since both DD and i get totally nauseous on them....so i don't know how they were..
but everything else that we tried was in good working order...

we definitely had a great time...

but i should also add that we have premium APs, so going into DQ costs us nothing....otherwise i'm not sure i would be willing to take the risk if i didn't know for sure that the place was as empty as it was on the days we visited...

After all the positive comments about DQ feel that perhaps we were unlucky . It was really busy and it wasn't raining. If we had premium passes with them we would give it ago. BUt I definately wouldn't pay for 5 of us to go.

It wasn't just Jim Hill talking about it closing. There was some talk of the sports bar moving from the boardwalk to replace disneyquest - maybe to be like the one in Disneyland where they have lots of games upstairs. Rumour front has been quiet lately. I went to DQ on my last visit just in case it closes but I don't go every trip. I like Cyber Space Mountain the best although Pirates is fun if there is a group of you.

if we didn't have premium APs i don't think we'd ever go into DQ - way too expensive...

i once heard a rumour that they were closing pleasure island, had anyone heard more about that one?

I agree completely. My DS loves it there but every trip has been spoiled by him getting mown down by some brat barging in front of him practically knocking him over. And it's not always the kids some of the grown men are every bit as bad :sad2:

I've read recently that its not closing now and they are putting plans that they did have on hold for now. I don't reallly like the place, we went in a few years ago but it was so crowded we couldn't get to any of the games. Never bothered since so I wouldn't really miss it if it did go. :yay:
