DisneyQuest Question

I need some opinions, if you would be so kind:D I'm working on our game plan for our week at WDW. We are traveling August 22-29. I have tried to fit all that everyone wants to do within this time frame, and thought I did. But my son wants to go to DisneyQuest and rather than have to rework our plan:rolleyes:, I was thinking that on the day that we visit WS, we have a 6:30 PS at Marrakesh. My question is, do you think we will have enough time to get over to DisneyQuest so that he may enjoy it? This day is a Tuesday, so I believe they close at 11pm. Is it a long bus ride over? I split Epcot into two days. Wednesday we are returning to FW and will be taking the Illuminations Cruise, so missing Illuminations on Tuesday is not an issue. What do you think?

How old is your son? If he is between the ages of about six and 20, and really into video games, he is going to love Disney Quest. If you have priority seatings at Epcot at 6:30, and then head over there, you probably won't get there until about 8:30 or 9:00. Two hours isn't going to be enough time there. I suggest that you spend at least four hours there (and you'll probably be dragging your son out of there).

Thanks, but that was what I was afraid of. DS is 12 and loves video games! Hmmmm, I don't know what to do, my week is quite full. I guess I need to look at the plan and re-work, remove something already planned, I hope not. How about this, if I could changed the PS to 5pm, do you think we will be cutting WS short if we arrive at 11? I remember it taking ages to walk around. Do you think that will give us enough time at DisneyQuest? Boy oh boy, I thought I had this all worked out, silly ol' bear, ha ha.

We'll be there from Aug 15-23. So I know it's going to be hot, hot, hot!! My game plan is looking a little more laid back, due to the heat and humidity. We'll be doing a park in the morning, going back to the Polynesian for lunch and a swim/rest, and then back to a park late afternoon. One day we're going to try to fit DQ into our mid-day period or in the a.m. of a non-park day. Have you been to WDW before? Since we have been several times, we are able to pass by some things and focus on our favorites, thereby getting a little free time. I have heard that DQ is easier to do in the morning, while others are at the parks. Just try to take it easy in the heat! Don't get worn out. Have a fun trip.

goofy4tink, yes, we've been several times, but haven't been in 4 years. My thinking was, now that the kids are older they would enjoy WS more. But you are right, we will pick our favorites. I changed my PS to 5:15 and will take a taxi over to DisneyQuest, this should allow for about 4 hrs. I think this may work
:D Do you guys? Just when you think your all set...;)

I have been to Disney many times and am amazed when I see how much people can "pack into a day"! I hope you are planning on just laying back in the morning, because your evening sounds quite full! ;) My only concern would be the crowds at Disney Quest. Sometimes we find it is crowded to the point where no one else is allowed to enter until some people leave. You might want to double check on the boards what the crowds have been like on the particular night you want to go!

You can always save money and time by dropping the PS entirely. DQ is great fun for the whole family. We made complete indiots of ourselves but as a family-of-four, we managed to sink every pirate boat that came at us. We were running all over ourselves to man the cannons!

We have overplanned meals on past trips and now we plan one or two PS and just pickup the rest as we go. Hmmm... do you like cheesecake?

Disney Quest was always busy at night the first time we went. I suggest doing it in the morning there was only about 100 people in it and there were hardly any queues went we went the second time.

I know I am doing a ton of planning. I did plan a character breakfast for that morning at CMC and figured we could just walk over to WS at 11. We are not planning on doing lunch, we will just pick up some yummy's as we walk. So, we should be able to sleep a bit later, have a relaxing breakfast before we start. I considered canceling our PS for Marrakesh, but I just love that place:cool: DS is looking forward to DQ and it really does sound like tons of fun. I will check the boards for crowds. I appreciate all your help, you guys are great!:D

Whether or not you have a family at all - Disneyquest should be at or near the top of your "gameplan" (I would even say above Animal Kingdom). We only made it there a couple of times the last trip - but this time we will try to get there as much as possible (have even moved reservations to Port Orleans Riverside - much of this decision was so that we can take the boat to Downtown Disney). There is just way too much fun stuff to do at DisneyQuest for you to skip it - or to not figure enough time there.

Definitely make time for Disney Quest. You're going the last week of August so most schools will be back in session so it shouldn't be all that crowded on a weekday -- but, to be honest, I think the place is much easier to tackle during the last two hours of Friday and Saturday (10pm to midnight) than a weekday (9pm to 11pm).

You have five small yet activity-packed floors to tackle. The place is at its emptiest during the first and last hour of the day (so you're doing it right by saving it for the end of a day).

I think you'll find that the Cheesecake Factory food in the 4th and 5th floors will be far better than just about any counter service restaurant in WDW property (though, yes, you'll be going couscous crazy instead thatnight).

There are plenty of activities that the whole family can do together (do NOT miss Pirates on the 1st floor) but even if you're not into games you can split up with the non-gamers taking in the animation classes on the 2nd floor or just lounging out in the Wonderland Cafe in the 4th floor.

If you're on a limited schedule, go over the different attractions and pick out your "can't miss" hits. All tastes are different but I have no desire to wait for Jungle Cruise, Mighty Ducks Pinball or Ride the Comix and while Buzz Lightyear is okay, if the line is long it takes awfully long between rounds as the cast members clear the cars and move all of the "ammo" into the middle of the playing field.

Thanks! The way I have it set up now allows us about 4 hrs of play. I plan on taking a taxi from Epcot as not to waste too much time waiting for busses. Thanks for the tips on the games, I don't want to spend too much of our 4 hrs on lines. I'm sure I will need to pull my DS and DH out of there, luckily we will stay till closing and they will have to leave;) I'm looking foward to this as I've never been and I do like to play some video games too:D

We were at DisneyQuest this past Wednesday and it was very crowded!
We arrived before noon and were very surprised to find it so busy. We had some fun but did not stay too long because the crowds were getting bigger by the minute.
Note that you do not get off the Disney bus at the first Downtown Disney stop. The second stop is much closer to DisneyQuest.
Enjoy your trip!
