The end of the Magic
We arrived at the airport, returned our rental car, and lugged all nine of our bags plus our new cooler to the Midwest counter. I'm thinking to myself that I will never, ever travel with that many bags ever again! Ever! It was a whole lot more fun getting the bags to the ship than it was getting them back home

.
We get checked in and head up to the Midwest area to sit and wait for our flight. We are sitting there thinking about how tired we are (atleast DH and I were tired), when the man at the Midwest counter gets on his loud speaker and announces that our flight is overbooked and that they are looking for people to give up their seats

. I barely make eye contact with DH before rushing up to the counter to see what the "deal" is.
The man explains to me that they need three seats and will give round trip tickets, hotel stay, and food vouchers for the airport. I tell him we have four seats, he says no problem, and I say, "DEAL"! DH wants to know if I'm sure about this, but all I can think about is the fact that we can extend the "Magic" for one more day!
We visit with the man about the procedure for getting our luggage back and talk about the details of everything else. He made it all sound so easy

. Roundtrip tickets for everyone--check. Hotel stay--check. Food voucher for airport--check. We were set!
After about an hour and half, our luggage FINALLY starts arriving at the baggage claim area. I head back to Budget to rent a car again while DH and kids wait on our bags. The people at the Budget counter look at me like I'm crazy when they realize that I just returned a car and now want another one. I try to explain that I am now on a Mickey high and don't care that I have to have a new reservation. DUH! I get the car and head up to help out with the luggage.
I can tell as I'm approaching DH that something is wrong

. Apparently it didn't quite work as smoothly as nice Midwest guy explained that it would. Some of our luggage was on the plane heading back to Kansas City

! Oh well! We had a bag of a few dirty clothes (remember, I did laundry all of the time, so I'm pretty sure the fact that I had some dirty clothes in a bag was just pixie dust coming my way), and we could get by for just one night.
We check in to our hotel and start driving towards the parks. We decided that we'd do Magic Kingdom because it was open the latest and it was already 2:00 by this time. After handing over $273, we are there!
We didn't realize how tired we really were. We were all on that "Mickey High" when we first arrived at the parks. After riding some of our favorite rides, we started to wear down quickly. We had said that we'd stay until the park closed

, but I think we forgot that we aren't what we used to be. DH and I were dragging butt! The kids even started wearing down. We had a great time, but we all needed some sleep! I will say that we did ride a lot of rides in a fairly short amount of time, and the lines weren't really that bad. Once we finished riding our "favorites" atleast once and some a few times, DH and I decided that we just had to have some sleep.
We get to the hotel, shower, get a snack, and hit the bed.

What a day! DH keeps asking if I'm sure we should have taken Midwest up on their offer. The "tight" side of him is looking at all of the money we spent on the rental car and tickets to the park

. I try to brush his comments off, but I'm secretly wondering the same.

Afterall, we had to get up at 4:00 a.m. to head to the airport.
We all get up pretty easily and head to the airport. I return the car to Budget again, and we start hauling our luggage all over again. It's at this point that I realize that maybe I'm glad Midwest sent some of our luggage to Kansas City without us.
We get checked in and head to Burger King at the airport to use up some of our food voucher. Midwest had given us a $40 food voucher, and we knew we wouldn't use it all, but we thought we'd atleast get some breakfast. While we are paying, the lady behind the counter asks us if we know she can't give us cash back. We tell her that is okay, and she says that we should buy some more stuff. We take a few more things for the plane like apples, some cinnamon rolls, and then we decide we just don't want any more. DH tells the lady to start putting other people's food on our ticket. You should have seen the looks on some of their faces! They thought there was a catch or something. Nope, it was just us trying to use up our voucher. There were some pretty happy people at Burger King that morning.
We head to the Midwest area and collapse on the chairs. We were all so tired we could barely stay awake. Once again, the man comes over the loud speaker looking for people to give up their seats. You know what I did? I looked at DH and said they couldn't offer me enough to give up my seats today. I was tired and just wanted to go home.
We board the plane, and DD and I fall asleep immediately. I didn't even realize we had taken off! DD had those "sleep lines" all over her face, and I was totally out of it. It was the fastest flight I've ever been on! I think I like flying when I'm so exhausted I can't sit up straight.
We arrived back to Kansas City in a flash, got our luggage, and headed for home sweet home.
This vacation was truly a magical vacation for us. It's something we only dreamed about but was now a reality. And, we rebooked, so we get to do it all over again!
After a couple of days of rest, I started feeling very sad about not getting to go to Disney or do a cruise for such a long time, so I decided to put those "free" tickets to use. We are now booked (with my entire family) to go to
Disneyland next October.
So, although I won't get to post a trip report on the
DCL site any time soon, I'll feed my addiction by following up on everyone else's reports, and I'll look forward to the Disneypoor families' Disneyland trip report coming up in only 6 short months.
