but what i find interesting is that you can just walk over to Taste pilots and just get extra tomato...

Yeah, I don't normally like tomato on my burger, but this still upsets me. Why are they trying to nickel and dime us so badly. I understand that times are harsh, but what is the worst that is going to happen... some executive doesn't get his undeserved, over inflated, quarterly bonus?

That's what I was thinking. You can pick them up at other places, so why charge there.

I am no tomato lover, at least not on my burger...but wow how much can one extra slice of tomato even cost? Not even a quarter for two slices I am sure.

Now does anyone have any reports on how the new fries were? Spacemermaid...where they just, um, fries? Had to use the 3D glasses smiley, he is too cute, inquiring minds what to see those fries in 3D, LOL!

Okay, at risk of having the tomatoes thrown my direction, I would like to ask a question.

Disney has to pay for the tomatoes. If a guest wants tomatoes on their burger, what would you do if you were in charge of food costs and controls at Disneyland?
- Would you charge everyone a little more to absorb the cost of the tomatoes a few people want?
- Would you charge extra for tomatoes?
- Would you not worry about the cost of tomatoes and just add them for free (and therefore pull money from the profit column for every tomato added)?

Those are basically the choices that Disney has to make. It's a business. Disney is in no way solo on this.

The McDonald's near my house has a sign posted in the drive-through that says that any condiment that is requested that is not a standard for that sandwich will be provided for an additional fee. It then has prices for extra sauces. I was charged for guacamole on my chicken soft tacos tonight at a restaurant DH and I went to for dinner. Why do we expect Disneyland to be different?

Honestly I think that if they did not offer tomatoes on their burgers in the past, why start now? But if they insist on doing so, why not just increase the cost of the burger having it include those tomatoes and if someone wants them taken off, they will either ask or take them off themselves. Most people would not complain about the price of a burger going up from $8.50 to $9.50; in consideration of some of the prices around the rest of the park, this meal might sound very affordable to some. I do actually think it is ridiculous considering the free condiments at Taste Pilots Grill, whats next taking that away?

Also, with the price of admission having recently gone up and prices of food probably adjusted fairly often anyway...is it really necessary to charge us for something that cost maybe 25 cents? I am not in charge of the books over there at Disney but lets just face it, they are profiting plenty on our meals in the first place. Just look for a moment at the price of a bottle of water, is it $3? If an individual can get a case of water for $3 on sale, imagine what bulk price Disney could be getting for a case of water; assuming they do.

The loss of tomatoes doesn't bother me - no, I wouldn't now start charging .99 for tomatoes, either, sounds dumb to me, but I don't personally eat them.

The fry thing at Taste Pilots, though, that bothers me. Not because I think they were the worlds best fries, however. They were good, don't get me wrong, but it is the idea of losing originality at that restaurant that bothers me. I know that alot of the food around the park is the same from restaurant to restaurant, but don't you notice that the most favorite/most talked about restaurants have some piece of uniqueness to them?? I read all the time on here about how people love the waffle fries....and now they are gone. I know they are making alot of changes around the parks and I really hope that it is not going to end up ONE MENU at 20 different locations. That would definitely help people choose DTD more often for eating.

I see what you're saying, but generally there is no charge for what is expected as coming with an itm,..for a burger, ok, you get a bun, lettuce and tomato, maybe onion and pickle. Guac extra, green chiles extra, cheese extra. The basics should certainly be built into the price. If they want to avoid wasting what people don't want, just give them the plain burger and bun and have a condiment bar. Of course Disney is a business and we all want them to succeed..but is the next step, total ala carte? You roder a burger you get the patty..then extra for the bun, extra for the lettuce, etc. I don't get why one restaurant is doing this and the others aren't. Disney has to have a pretty high profit margin already on food, so I don't think a couple mealy tomato slices will break them. (I'd love to see a cost analysis..I can only imagine that the park tickets don't even come close to meeting basic park expenses. That's why I've always said park entry is a bargain. For like $70.00 you get 12+ hours off all the fun and entertainment you can pack in. Imagine what it costs to run that place? CMs, lasndscaping, support personnel, etc etc. I would imagine that food and merchandise have a heavy load on them to provide profit for the whole operation)

I was almost ready to curse, but had to remember where I was!! It was a knee-jerk reaction! My first thought was, "Are you.......kidding me?!!!" No more criss cut fries?? How can that be? That is one of the best things AT Taste Pilots Grill, and one of the main reasons I liked TPG! You could put those fries on the hamburger or sandwich and eat it that way! Okay.....I am seriously going to re-think going to TPG again next trip, when I could just try White Water Snacks instead.
