Recently we used our points to stay at the Disneylandland Hotel. As the room was OK, I requested their preferred view which was supposed to be overlooking the pool. Looking directly out my window was a view of two roofs which I believe were the banquet rooms along with a AC roof top unit that ran 24/7.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I used my points to stay in January. I requested a standard view room. My room was directly overlooking the pool.

I was rather disappointed with the room tho. It was very old and worn, in bad need of a refurb.

The Grand Californian is really the place "to be" when visiting Disneyland. It costs a little more but we consider it to be worth every penny.

We just returned from 3 nights using our points at the Grand Californian. We had a confirmed Downtown Disney view (2 rooms), but were upgraded to a view over the pool to, I think, the Paradise Pier area of California Adventure (Sun Wheel, the Screamin' roller coaster, etc.). The stay exceeded our expectations.

I believe that the Disneyland Hotel is scheduled for major renovation, one tower at a time.
We just spent two nights on points at the Grand Californian, and it was great. A bit confusing, since our last WDW stay was at Wilderness Lodge--the two are similar in design, but not in layout.
The GC folks are not really on the DVC track yet--no one said "Welcome home" and they weren't too sure about what perks went with DVC ownership. We ended up paying extra for valet parking, but they did include the resort fee.
It is really neat to be able to just walk out of the park and right into the hotel.

#1 reason that we are considering adding on when points go on sale at GCV.

You can't do this at any of our WDW DVCs!

hey, I got a pool overlook for a standard booking too. The room was fine. No problems except I couldn't keep the fridge from freezing stuff.

I don't ever spend points for a view. I don't see it much.

We have stayed 2x with our points at the Grand Californian. This was the main reason my DH decided that it was time to buy into DVC!
We have had great views both times but the staff hasnt quiet got the welcome home down yet. Maybe with dvc units going in they will.
GC is our home away from home!

I am staying at the Disneyland Hotel in 10 days using points. I have the Preferred view. I will not be happy if I have roof tops and a AC unit.

We have used our points to stay at DL three times. Once and GCH and twice at the DLH. We requested a standard view at the DLH in the Dreams tower with a king bed. We were in the Dreams tower and got out king bed request. The first time the view was mostly of Hook's Pointe/Crocs n' Bites, but the pool we a little off to the right. The 2nd time we over looked the AMC in DTD. Both were great views and the room was fine. Not quite as nice at the GCH though :)

Have a great time!
