Disneyland Weddings...

sooooo ive been married to my husband for over 3 years now (4 years this november ). we got married really young and actually eloped! hahaha i was barely 19, and it was a quick 'wedding' in downtown at city hall (it lasted no more than two minutes, i swear!).
since i never got to have the wedding of my dreams at DL, i was thinking about maybe having a vow renewal there! does anyone know if DL actually does this, and how much it would cost???
i just think it would be amazing if we could do this, and i would love for my parents and family to actually see me get married this time. we never got a chance to celebrate our marriage, and theres no place i would rather do it than at DL. im thinking for our 5 year anniversary it woud be perfect!

any info on this would be greatly appreciated!! thanks!!

They have a full service office of FairyTale Weddings at the DL Resort. We got married there in 2001 (at the GCH's wedding garden - which is now in the construction zone for the new hotel addition) and had our reception in the banquet room right off the hallway that leads to DTD. You can also get married at a beautiful rose garden gazebo at the DLH or on the rooftop wedding area at PPH. In park weddings are super expensive and have a distinct minimum. You get assigned a coordinator, who is with you through the whole process.

As for me, it was a wonderful experience. They have a list of vendors for services they don't offer and those vendors get bumped from the list if they get 1 complaint from a bride. We got our minister and photographer through that list and Disney provided everything else.

They did Floral, Table settings, Cake, Music (String trio and DJ), Food, etc. I made my own favors, but you can have them do it, too. Everything they provided was impeccable.

I don't have the phone number handy, but there are a couple brides on the DIS Happily Ever After forum that are currently doing weddings/2nd ceremonies at DL. You can also check out their planning journals on those boards.

I imagine they will start booking the garden again, once the construction for the DVC wing is over. Those rooms are scheduled to open Fall 2009, so maybe for Christmas.

My wedding was also a Christmas wedding Dec 23, 2001, and I made sure to use the hotel decorations in my photos! Made for great backdrops. When all was said and done (including dress, and additional expenses), we spent about $20 grand on a full wedding with 90 guests. Not sure what that would translate into for today's prices. We chose more expensive items (dinner menu for noon wedding instead of lunch one, etc). Our meal was about $55/person. I don't remember the floral price. Cakes were about $300 - we had a groom's cake, also.

We've thought about a renewal too, but with us it would be a more private thing (we had family and friends at our wedding), and would probably be at WDW b/c their venues make me happier than what I've seen with DLR.

disneyweddings.com (or disneywedding?) is the site to go to, to see their prices. Sit down before you visit that site, it's a shocker. Just go ahead and put this expression on your face , it'll make things easier, LOL.

$20k is actually not bad for a DL wedding! my brother just got married last november and had a beautiful fall wedding, and spent well over $40k.....man they should have gotten married at DL!!!
that being said, i of course do not have that kind of money for a wedding hopefully i can do it for less money than that, also b/c not that many people will be attending...maybe 30 people...no more than 40 for sure. im not planning on going allll out (cant afford it ) so just a simple ceremony and party would be fine with me! your wedding sounded beautiful though! i would love to see a pic a christmas wedding would be absoloutly gorgeous! you are a lucky girl

If I'm not mistaken DL FTW is extremely expensive compared to WDW.
We got married at WDW on April 28th this year and during planning I looked at possibility doing so at DL and was sticker shocked at the price...
We are so glad to do our wedding at WDW. It was absolutely (as cheesy as this sounds) magical...

So before you get your heart set on DL, you might want to see some WDW DFTW site and get some pricing. There are some girls on disboards wedding from CA who decided to do their weddings in WDW because of the pricing too.

Anyways, make sure you check out their rules and limitations on vendors usage and such. I think they changed some items starting this october.

Just to give you an idea:
We had 25 people total in our wedding and total price with everything (including outside vendors - but doesn't include my dress or accessories, flights, or hotel) were around 20,500.

And this included stuff that you can definitely do without
cindy's carriage -2700
seat covers -110,
fancy chairs -500
Dessert Party - 1250
Flowers and decor - 1400

So there are a lot of ways to reduce the cost. Plus you can do a brunch (morning wedding and then brunch instead of dinner) and that would reduce the cost even more.
Also your location determines the cost too.

We had ours at Sea Breeze Points for the wedding, American Adventure Parlor for the dinner and Italy West for Dessert Party.
You can go for the Attic at BW for the brunch portion and save a lot of $ on decor because the room itself is already themed.

The weekday wedding has a lower minimum requirement than weekends.
We had ours on a monday and most of our guests ended up making a small vacation (arrive thursday/friday and depart on tuesday) out of the wedding... they all had a blast!

you had a disney wedding too! it really does sound magical....not cheesy at all!

yea i think im going to have to cut a lot of things out; i wish i could afford it all, but i dont want to be broke after our VR just a really basic wedding would be nice; as long as we all got to celebrate at DL and i get the honeymoon suite at GCH im good! im not a very picky person, so ill be happy with anything
