Disneyland trip regret??

Ok, just got back a few days ago from first trip to DL after many to WDW. While planning this trip I thought I would rather be planning a WDW trip. But I am very glad we did it. It is different, but similar and like everyone has said sometimes better. I loved how we could walk from our hotel (Candy Cane INN) to the parks and could hop from park to park in minutes. Did not miss herding into Resort buses, parking lot trams, monorail or the ferry just to get to a park. We loved Fantasyland and all the rides the MK does not have, Toontown is much better, the fireworks (finally saw after being cancelled first 2 days) were spectacular and Tink really gets a work out at these fireworks unlike the flyby she gets at MK. We loved the matterhorn, screamin, and space mountain was way better than MK. I did not feel as exhausted as I do at WDW. I did not like tomorrowland as well, I missed the TTA and the Carousel of Progress!! I missed Epcot and AK, but felt like I got enough of the MGM feeling from DCA and Universal studios. I don't know if I would go all the way across the country just for Disney though. We did 12 days and bought the Southern Cal city pass. We Stayed 5 days in San Diego (husband had conference there) and one night by Universal Studios.

Wow, Hound, why don't you just come out and tell us what you really think?

Now that we are going to DLR next week I will be missing Expedition Everest and Rock n Rollercoaster (way better than California Screamin IMO), plus a number of other things from WDW.

It is fun to have more than one destination to choose from. And now for me, having bagged DLR Paris, there are things about that resort that are amazing and better than the American resorts. They have a jaw dropping Tarzan show that is better than Aladdin and a Fantasyland that makes DL and MK look second rate by comparison.

I am glad that all the resorts have their own strengths.

I do agree in general with Hound that some WDW vets dismiss DLR much too quickly and demand something from DLR it is not setup to offer, thereby missing some of its special (and better) features. There be magic in that original Disney park in California...

You busted me HydroGuy. The main reason I posted was that I'm amazed that so many folks consider DLR kind of a "minor league" version of WDW.

Like you, I'm glad that both exist (heck i'd love for them to build a park in San Antonio or Austin). Each have advantages & disadvantages.

If I go to WDW again, I'll only go during off season (when it's cooler) & I'll only go if i can splurge (afford) for a monorail hotel (preferably the GF), thus removing most of my perceived negatives of WDW.

But the next few times i vist a Disney Park, it will be Walt's Park (with Toad, Indy & Alice). :cool1:

:yay:

we went to Disneyland on June 12th. we had a great time! the only bummer was our meal at the blue bayou. it was actually terrible. I am not the kind of person who EVER complains or sends anything back and I didnt there either. but I sure wish I had. but, maybe the chef was having an off day. but then we had spectacular hotdogs about an hour later on mainstreet, so that made up for it:rotfl: , other than that, not one complaint, we had a blast. so much so that we are going again on tuesday the 26th , buying annual passes and will be going whenever we feel the need to see the Mouse! Hooray!!:cool1: :mickeyjum
