We are staying at a good neighbor hotel very near the entrance of DL resort area. DH will be pushing me in my wheelchair and going to the parks. I can transport ok. DH can fold up my wheelchair if needed. I have never use the tram since this disease has taken hold of my body.

Will I be able to save DH a few steps by using the tram? Any informtion will be greatly appreciated.

The Disneyland trams, between the car park and the park entrance, have ramps and wheelchair spaces. When you get to the loading area, you will see a concrete ramp at one end of the area. Go to the ramp and wait wherever the signs tell you to (can't quite remember where that was). When the tram comes, they will put the ramp across to the tram and you can roll straight on. There are also seats in the carriage, so your husband can sit with you.

Hope this helps! :thumbsup2

If you are staying at a hotel on Harbor Blvd, the parking trams won't get you any closer to the front gate. When you enter from Harbor, you will be walking down a walkway toward the security check and then the gates. The trams come from the parking structure and drop people off along this walkway. If you're staying at a hotel on the other side of the park, you may be able to save a few steps by using the trams in the Timon Parking Lot instead of walking across it.

Is your hotel on Harbor or another street?

They have a disabled van to transport guests as well as the trams. Bring your handicapped placard with you. There are three disabled parking areas. One is by the elevators on all but the bottom floor. You exit via the elevator which is ok unless you do not like being squished in an elevator full of disabled people, kids, and strollers. I have been on floor 4 and not able to get on the elevator because floor 5 was being loaded and the elevators were full.

Next area is the one they usually send disabled guest and is on the first floor.

The closest spot is right next to the trams. You have to tell the attendants that you want to park in the bus parking area.

Each tram train consists of one or sometimes two disabled vehicles and the regulars seats. The regular vehicles have the first seat facing backwards thus allowing strong guest to shove strollers and wheelchairs in that spot. Generally it is easiest to use the Wheelchair vehicle and save your back and the trouble/

OP, you said you are staying at a hotel very near DLR. Will you be driving to the park, or walking/wheeling-in-WC from the hotel?

I think Luv Bunnies answer is the correct one if your DH is pushing you. I'm not a DLR expert, but I think the other answers are talking about the parking lots. I don't recall seeing the trams stopping, except to unload passengers, as we walked to DLR from our nearby hotel on Harbor.

There used to be a tram from the Disney hotels but that was stopped and guests must use the monorail or walk to the trams a long long way.

There is the Lion King tram which serves the parking lot south of DCA and stops at an opening in the fencing that leads to Harbor Boulevard. This is one of the two trams I mentioned. Disabled guests go up a ramp to a platform and wait for the tram. There are only so many tie downs for wheelchairs and require the bench seat being lifted. This is the front car and can mean a very cold ride and diesel fumes. Personally I rather have 5 guys haul me onto a rear car than smell the fumes but usually the ride is short. This is level ground.

The main Mickey and Friends parking garage area has the second parking area and trams. This is the one I was discribing. That has many loading zones and they can unload guests on the opposite side of the unloading zone. Guests in ECVs and wheelchairs wait until the tram gets in a loading zone to unload. CMs are very nice and helpful. The tram area to the parking garage is downhill mostly and smooth, boy slip sliding smooth mosthly. Uphill when you are leaving.

The main entrance is off of Harbor and hotel guests can walk through that entrance to get to the park entrance. There is an area for shuttles from local hotels and a taxi stop. I recommend talking to your hotel about a shuttle. Taxis and shuttles get you only so close. Public transportation is located outside the park, long story but long ago they did enter the park.

If you are staying on the north west area then you would have to take a hotel shuttle, drive, take a taxi or walk blocks to get to the Mickey and Friends parking Garage then on to tram.

Another option is to have a taxi drop you off in the parking lot just north of Downtown Disney then walk around the Rainforest Cafe to the monorail. Drop off at Disneyland Hotel and walk to the monorail.

If I knew which hotel you were at then I could help you more, sorry.

If you are staying at a good neighbor hotel, chances are that they have a free shuttle to/from your hotel which drop off right by the same place that the Timon trams do, I would suggest using those or look into the ART system, that may be another option.

As for Disney owned hotels, they no longer have shuttle service unfortunately, they should bring this back in my opinion though.

If you are very close to the entrance on Harbor, no, the trams won't be of assistance. You would need to drive to a parking lot and catch it from there, and the tram (that I mainly think of...but I've only been to the Mickey and Friends parking structure) ends well before the DTD-side security (bag check), giving your husband probably as much pushing-time as he would have crossing Harbor and going to the Harbor-side bag check.

If ART or a shuttle (and as far as I know, b/c of Anaheim regulations, only two hotels have their own free shuttles grandfathered in, and neither of the hotels are both on Harbor AND very close, so you'd likely just be with ART) could pick you up *very* close, it might give hubby less time pushing.

Feel free to come over to the Disneyland forum if you wish, and let "us" know what hotel you will be at. It's possible there are people who hang out on that forum but not here, who might have ideas for you! :goodvibes
