I'm considering a tour on our next trip to DL. I don't know a thing about the tours available. It'll be just me and my DH. Got any advice? Even better, a review? Or, you could just point me in the right direction for info regarding tours currently being offered. Thanks!

DH and I went on the Walk in Walt's Footsteps and thought it was great. We had a nice lunch with it, got a cool special anniv. pin, and had a great time. I defiantely would suggesst that one.

You can find a list of tours on disneyland.com - go to the "Disneyland Park" page, then click on the "Tours" link on the left hand side. Currently they list: Welcome to Disneyland Tour

Well, we had decided on the 50th Anniversary tour. We figured that the reserved seating for the fireworks would be worth it. Turns out that they stopped doing that tour as the YOMD celebration began. (Poor planning on my part, I know.) We then chose to take the Walk in Walt's footsteps tour. I wasn't impressed for the following reasons:

1. The group was too big. At one point they said it was full at 17 guests. By the time we started touring we had 21.
2. There were no earphones. I'd previously read both here and on Disney literature that the tours were now using the earphones. I even asked about the earphones and was told that they don't use them except for those with special needs. The earphones would have been helpful. Others on the tour who had previously used the earphones in WDW agreed that they should have been offered to us.
3. We started 15 minutes late and ended early.
4. It was difficult to keep up with the tour guide. We were there on a very crowded day and it was hard to keep our group of 21 all together.
5. The literature stated that we would visit the Tiki Room and have a private showing. We didn't visit the Tiki Room.
6. The food was mediocre. The sandwiches and salads with dessert were there for us as we finished the tour. The people who had ordered warm food had to wait about 10 minutes before it was brought out.
7. Most of the "intriguing" facts that he shared with us I already knew because of this board.

On a positive note, we did get to go into the lobby, and even the lift, of Club 33. Oh, and the cheesecake was good.

we go to Disneyland about 4-5 times a year. My kids have read all about Walt. So my daughter knew a lot. But my mom took her on this tour for her birthday and she loved it! The guide was excellent and you get to see the things either you know about or not. The lunch was nice and they especially loved the pin. My kids collect them and this one of the most special pins to my daughter. If Walt is an inspiration to you this tour is the one for you!

mom2dzb - Sorry you had a bad time. We only had about 10 people in our group and had no trouble hearing anything. We got to do the Tiki Room show, our food was waiting for us when we got to the courtyard, and was pretty good. As for the facts, I hadn't found this board when I went, so there were some that I didn't know. Our group was pretty interactive with the CM, asking lots of questions. Maybe you had an off day or I was really lucky.

We've taken many tours at Disneyland and I must say that there is quite a bit of variation in what you receive. We've been on crowded tours where you couldn't really hear and we were in a tour where it was only our family and we had basically a private tour guide for those hours. One tour advertised each person would receive a lanyard and pin and when we finished they said "oh sorry, we're out of lanyards and pins and we don't have anything else to give out". :confused3

All in all, we've enjoyed some bit of magic on every tour. Sometimes it's the tour itself, sometimes the special seating or gifts, and sometimes the particular tour guide. The few negative experiences won't keep us from touring again. :thumbsup2

Mikayla, I think I would have enjoyed the tour more if it there wasn't so many people in the group, or if the park hadn't been so crowded. There was a lot of interaction going on with the CM. Whoever was near the tour guide got to hear the interaction, but for the most part his interaction was with only the few people who could hear him at any given time. I think I'm done with tours of DL, but I'll probably give WDW tours a try.
