Disneyland to Hollywood

What would be the best way for me to get to Hollywood from Disneyland? I'm a 23 year old female and will be traveling by myself. I'm not opposed to public buses or a cab, but what I'm looking for is probably more of a shuttle bus type of thing for tourists. I don't want to rent a car. I mostly just would like to go to Hollywood to walk around and stay in that general area for an afternoon/evening and then return to my Disneyland area hotel that night.

I'm looking for something sort of cost efficient-looking to spend around $50 round trip, so a cab would probably be a lot more than that. Any ideas from anyone? I looked into Zipcar and there aren't any locations in Anaheim, because that was my first thought. I *COULD* rent a car if I HAVE to, but since I'm under 25 the fees are ridiculous.

Have you checked into Gray Line Tours? They have several stops/buses and can take you up to Hollywood. In fact, one of their pick up locations is Hollywood and Highland entertainment complex, right across from Disney's El Capitan Theater and Soda Fountain. If memory serves me correctly, they also offer a bus from Disney to Universal Studios.

It's worth looking into. If not, there is Amtrak to Union Station and then Metrolink to Hollywood and Highland (station is under the complex). I did a blog about this route.

Have fun planning (and don't do what I did)!

Thank you so much! Your blog post was extremely helpful, and it looks like the train is a good option for me and within my budget. I'm definitely going to look into the different options in LA to get me to where I need to be! If I can't find any information on some sort of shuttle bus or something from Anaheim this looks like a great option.

YMP, you wrote a fantastic blog but in doing so you confused two different rail systems: Metro Rail and Metrolink.

The Red Line subway from Union Station to Hollywood is part of the LA County Metro Rail system.

OTOH, Metrolink is an entirely different rail network which reaches 5 different counties.

It's important to note the differences otherwise one could become seriously lost!

I don't know if it was mentioned in any of the links above, but your Metrolink fare covers the Metro Red Line you'd need to get to Hollywood. Details here:

Metrolink being a commuter rail line it doesn't run as late as Amtrak, so be sure to check return schedules. With Amtrak you'd need to pay for the Red Line separately.
