Disneyland tickets using Disney Gift Card questions :)

You may want to hold off applying for a Target redcard. Rumor is that the 5% off gift cards doesn't work anymore.

It's been working fine for me, the last one I purchased was 2 weeks ago.

I also purchase the gift cards at our local Kroger (King Soopers) when they have 4x fuel points. $100 gift card = 40 cents off a gallon of gas. If my husband uses the discount, he can save $6.50 on his fill up with that discount (I drive a Prius, so it's not that lucrative for me to use). Last summer I bought both DD and my park hoppers at King Soopers and separately saved $1 off a gallon of gas, which was a great savings.

question, any perks out there for applying for a redcard (I know at the registers they always ask and I believe its 10% off the transaction does that include gift cards purchased)? if I apply for one then both me and the wife can use the card correct?

The main two perks Target advertises is 5% off purchases (exclusions apply) and free shipping from Target.com (restrictions apply).

Not all gift cards purchases qualify for the 5% discount. I think it's a matter of how the system classifies the card. Some are listed as gift cards (excluded from the discount) and others are classified as "entertainment cards" (eligible for the discount). I don't know why some cards are entertainment cards and other are gift cards.

You'll want separate cards. They're debit cards. And only "entertainment" cards are eligible for 5% off, so not restaurants, etc. You will get 5% off all Target purchases in store and online, and free shipping online.

They actually have both debit and credit, you can sign up for either one. I have a credit card.

so either debit or credit will get the 5% discount? also im assuming the debit card wont ding my credit.

edit: just checked, either debit or credit will get the 5%. looks like im going to need some reading up on which cards are eligible for 5% (will egift cards be eligible like ebay?)

EBay used to be eligible as of a few weeks ago , I don't know if things have changed at all. I assume the discounts have been reinstated according to what other posters have reported. Also Southwest gift cards used to work and I found useful.

So i applied for a debit card and have one now. when i try to purchase a disney card it says not available for shipping/visit store. Is there something im missing. did they close the loophole?

I think the gift cards were out of stock. Usually they come back, though it's unclear this time whether this is a permanent change or not. I heard that the online checkout system looks a bit different than before, so it's not clear what's going to happen.

im gonna wait a few days then. there are some other avenues to get discount on the disney cards like safeway gas rewards.

I think they've stopped selling the Disney Gift Cards via Target.com because my local Target shows as being not available for pick-up, but I know they have them in stock because I bought some yesterday. I was able to get the 5% discount on the cards, but I did have to buy them in store.
