Disneyland September 2016

I was thinking of planning a trip to DL the last week of Sept 2016. It seems the hotels in the area are either fairly booked or have higher than normal booking prices.

Does anyone know what would be going on that week in Anaheim or DL that I should be aware of... to steer clear of the crowds?

I know it might be the first Halloween party date but, last years first date did not sell out so...... must be something else? Enlighten me please!!! TIA

Honestly, I think it's just a sign of the times-Disneyland just keeps getting busier. We booked back in February for 9/17 , since then everything has gone up. I'm sure Halloween time is part of it.

We are attending Minecon at the convention centre on September 24-25. 12000 tickets were sold and I am guessing that might contributing a bit. More families and kids than at a normal convention.

I believe Gay Days is the last weekend in September, and typically the Halloween Parties start then as well.

As mentioned Gay Days is slated for September 30 through October 2, so the weekend is likely to be very busy.

Last year, the first party (September 25, 2015) was one of the first parties to sell out. The second party (Monday, September 28, 2015) was the only party not to sell out in advance. They haven't announced the party dates for 2016, but I would expect the first party (and all subsequent Friday night parties) to sell out well before the party date. They probably won't announce the dates until sometime in mid-summer.

Minecon?

It is the yearly Minecraft conference for the game. I think the majority of attendees are families with kids in the 7-16 year old range. Last year it was in London.
