Disneyland Resorts AND Park

I am one of the thousands taking one of the Disney
cruises next year from California. We are interested in also
visiting Disneyland for three days. Can anyone give me any
suggestions on their hotels out there, the parks (what to
see and where to eat) and sites off property that might
be of interest in that area.

Also, has anyone ever rented a car out there. What are
the dos and don'ts? And who is the best to rent from?

There are two parks - entrances face each other & you can walk from one to the other.

Three Disneyland Resort Hotels - the Grand Californian is a mix between Wilderness Lodge and Grand Floridian; the Disneyland Hotel is the original, with three towers and nice landscaping, plus a great themed pool; and Paradise Pier Hotel, overlooks California Adventure, and no real grounds to speak of, but it's right next to all the action, and you still feel a part of the resort.

Unlike WDW, the non-Disney, or Good Neighbor Hotels are very close, some within walking distance, and if you're looking for a deal to save money, you might consider staying at one of these.

There are many reputable car rental agencies ... Alamo, Enterprise, Dollar ... and many have agencies close by. Also, if you take a shuttle - either SuperShuttle or Airport Bus, and you're staying through a Walt Disney Travel Company package (Dreams Unlimited Travel books through WDTC), you can go to guest services and book a car for a day, or more if you would like to.
