Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

that makes sense if Adventureland attractions are closed... Tiki room... questionable with the new guidelines, Jungle cruise is getting a facelift, and Indiana.. well that queue?

I do wonder who's doing the outreach; doesn't sound like a nice person in the HR department :(
Some are saying that it's not just HR it's managers, but I hope CMs don't feel pressured to go back, they're still human and there's still a pandemic

California just removed the 120 mile travel restriction. Makes sense when they are allowing all Californians to visit the parks.

Nice headline, but then there is this gem;
New recommendations for nonessential, or leisure, travel include taking a COVID-19 test before and after you travel, even if you have been vaccinated, and self-quarantining for seven days, even if your test is negative.
:rolleyes2

I saw that LA Times article last night - it's weirdly written.

Here's the actual advisory:
https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/Pages/COVID-19/Travel-Advisory.aspx

The main changes (which are relatively minor):

1) Dropping the 120-mile restriction.
2) Requesting tests before/after travel.
2) Decreasing the requested self-quarantine from 10 days to 7 days if people get tested.

The testing stuff is "should", not "must" - not the worst idea to put that out there. (People are outright ignoring the non-essential travel stuff, so it's more than likely just one more thing for folks to ignore.)

They're also allowing all Californians to visit Las Vegas...
I thought it was pretty ballsy of California to annex Vegas so that it would count as in-state travel, especially via a footnote in the advisory. I'm surprised Nevada wasn't more upset about losing the area.

I hope Vegas residents enjoy their stay in California.

I couldn’t find anything official about this Las Vegas/California travel thing, but I have a feeling this has to do with some sort of travel agreement made between California and Las Vegas or the state of Nevada. Those sort of designations aren’t usually made without an agreement in place. The tourism authority of Las Vegas wants Californians and other tourists to visit Las Vegas, whether Vegas citizens like it or not. Just like the tourism authority of San Diego is encouraging people in neighboring states to visit, whether we like it or not.

Here are the full new guidelines for travel. I would hope now that the CDC has updated this that California will update theirs to match.

Now it'd be nice to see this reflected in the tier guidelines for theme parks but not holding my breath. It'd be a tricky road to check whether people are vaccinated or not for theme parks and that's likely not a precedent Disney wants to deal with.

Still, this vaccinated out of state DLR nerd will just continue to wait "patiently." I'm sure by our November trip it'll be a go though. I just want to be able to plan!

Whether folks are invested in the out of state restriction or not, I do think that's gonna be the goal that needs to be in place before Disneyland takes larger reopening steps like Avengers Campus, remaining DLR hotels opening, opening more restaurants, etc.

We're still waiting on that green tier info right? Are cases still steadily going down in CA? Hopefully that "fourth surge" I keep seeing talked about in the news doesn't happen there!

Not trying to argue but I don't think what the CDC is saying makes any difference with California's theme park requirements. The CDC is saying if you are vaccinated you don't have to quarentine or test before or after travel. So that would mean theme parks would have to determine if you are vaccinated. What about children and those who for medical reasons cannot be vaccinated? Would they not be allowed to enter? Without a universal vaccine passport this is a tough thing to enforce.
Side note - Hawaii has not yet dropped their testing requirements for those that are fully vaccinated.

Any links to this? I have the following link, but nothing about Vegas in it.

I think upritbass is joking. (I say that as someone who tried to pull an April Fools joke on their FB friends and failed miserably because it was way too subtle.)

The advisory is pretty clear about non-essential and out-of-state travel, and I think they'd be very clear about it if they were making that kind of exception.

I think we'll start seeing conversations continue to amp up around the idea of vaccine passports when it comes to travel. Especially with this new CDC guidance.

But woosh, let's avoid that rabbit hole here. That topic got so out of hand the WDW rumor board was locked immediately.

I don't think Disney wants to deal with it anyways. I think the best case scenario for us out of staters is to continue to just watch the cases in CA since they likely won't remove that travel advisory until they drop into whatever level Newsom feels is best- maybe the green tier will give us that new goalpost to look for.

Yea the vegas thing is a joke and a reflection of the randomness of the restrictions. You can travel 600 miles from Yreka California to Disneyland, but not 250 miles from AZ or Nevada. Especially since it has been well documented how Californians traveled in droves to neighboring states to get a haircut or eat in a restaurant at the peak of this pandemic. I will say.....trying to predict the decisions coming out of the California powers that be since last March have not only been entertaining but incredibly enlightening.

but they were never actual/real travel restrictions, right? Just “advisory?” My family in CA were everywhere during the pandemic (for better or worse).
