Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I totally agree with you.... but if they don’t ask, how is it any different than not asking people where they live? Obviously, household is a lot easier for people to lie about, which I am not advocating! But a rule is a rule and it was said here many times that if they don’t ask for proof of residency, they could get shut down.

I don’t think it will be that difficult. The CM will just ask “how many in your household” instead of “how many in your party” when boarding people. Sure, people will lie. But I would think that asking how many people are in the household and seating people based on their answer would be enough to meet that requirement.

According to Touring Plans, these rides are at 15 minutes or pretty close:
  • Pirates (15 mins)
  • it's a small world (14 mins)
  • Rise of Resistance (18 mins)- but Disney shared this already? maybe the inside to outside back to inside is a loophole?
And I think Tiki Room, Nemo, Great Moments with Lincoln, and Sleeping Beauty Castle walkthrough are out of the question?

These poor CMs is right. I wonder how much that's enforced tho- they'll probably board parties together without asking if they live together or not. That'd be ridiculous if they had to ask.
How big is a Pirates and Small World boat? The rules say same household per vehicle and if not they need to be 6 feet apart. If you have a household of 2 in the front row, and another household of 2 in the back row then that could work. Wouldn't necessarily work for say RSR.

Larger parties would just get their own boat/vehicle.

Oh man, I guess no more single ride lines to fill in empty spaces?

Something else I just thought of. At WDW, many of their rides have plexiglass on them to separate the rows. I wonder if the state would allow that to have higher capacity on ride vehicles?

I'd be curious about this too. That's what's cut down drastically on wait times at WDW. But on some rides the plexiglass kinda sucks too... lose lose situation lol.

One party per ride vehicle too. So things like Pirates and Small World are gonna have loooooong lines even at reduced capacity.

One party per ride OR size feet distance. Those boats are mine than 6 feet long. They can fill the front and back rows.

The timer will start on the actual RIDE, not in the line or while boarding. The guidelines say the RIDE cannot exceed 15 minutes. Pirates, Small World and Rise are all safe.

The biggest hurdle for Disneyland will be the outdoor queuing only. This will make some walkways quite crowded. Thankfully, most DL and DCA queues are outdoors or open air. Indiana Jones will be a challenge, though. I guess as long as people are constantly moving, the indoor queue areas can be used to access the rides. I feel like this will be a guideline that Disney will sort of fudge a little bit.

Everything I googled says the length of the Pirates ride is 15 mins and 30 seconds- is that inaccurate? I'm just curious. 🤷‍♀️

Those other calculations from TP start when the ride starts too- not in the queue.

It might be, but remember, Disney can speed up the boat rides. I'm sure they are doing just that right now to get the ride under 15 minutes. A lot of time on Pirates, you are log jammed behind boats at the end. Take out several boats, speed it up slightly and it will be well under 15 minutes.

I know for a fact that Small World is 12 minutes almost exactly. The part indoors is about a minute or 2 less than that.

I wonder how rides like Guardians, Soarin, Space, and Star Tours where a good portion of their queues are indoors will work? I'm sure they have a plan, but still curious.

The all outdoor queue is kind of a pain because then you don't get that AC break especially with wearing masks in the sun. But at least it's not as hot as Florida!

I've had a few 30-40 min Pirate rides, for sure! Yes good call on taking boats out. We had never been to WDW before and we knew Pirates was already a shorter ride. But we never bumped another boat which made us think there were fewer boats in the system. It was really nice. :thumbsup2

I’m picturing you queue up outside and they hold you there until it’s time to load. Cast Member on the loading platform will radio to the one outside and then they will allow those people to walk through the building and directly onto the loading area.

That’s probably what will happen. All of these rides do have outdoor queues. If they remove the switchbacks, those could also be utilized. I wonder if the Rocket pre-show will be eliminated from Guardians...

While that may indeed increase capacity and therefore decrease wait times, I desperately hope DLR does *not* add the plexiglass dividers to ride vehicles. I found them to be horrible in WDW--they were already all scratched up, obviously spit on, etc. and the lighting effects in rides glinted and reflected off the plexiglass making them a huge distraction. Personally, I'd rather wait longer for an undiminished attraction experience.

I'll be surprised if it isn't. But pirates is confusing, why can't I find a distinct time limit for the rise from getting on the boat to off the boat( minus the whole back up that always happens at the end which I assume won't be an issue for reopening)

I was kind of bummed about not being able to visit, but honestly these restrictions sound pretty complex. It's probably for the best (for us) that out-of-state can't go right now, because I feel like we're going to be missing out. I'm hoping by December things are a little more relaxed.
