Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

Has Disney ever (to anyone's knowledge) ever considered a water park in Anaheim?

I really think they should do this! The Toy Story parking lot is the perfect place.

I do remember hearing a rumor about a Cajun themed Disney water park in Anaheim, but that might have been a crazy dream.

So, all the local news as well as our City are talking about OC moving to Orange Tier next Tuesday (3/31). I guess there had been some confusion as to when we would be eligible, but the county reached out to the state and got confirmation from the CDPH that OC could be reassigned Tuesday.

In addition, the state is currently at about 3M vaccines in the lowest quartile neighborhoods, and they are expected to reach 4M within the coming 2 weeks, which means the Yellow tier qualifying numbers shift higher. With a move into Orange next week, that puts OC in play for *potentially* reaching Yellow tier by the time Disneyland opens.

With continued low case numbers (our average is just above 3 per 100K right now) and a positivity percentage well into Yellow territory, this is looking like an increasingly real possibility.

I do wonder if Disney would immediately increase capacity (if they can) or if they plan to sell tickets at just the 15% or 25% level for a bit. It will be interesting to watch and see what they do, but it also seems it may be slightly easier to score tickets if they can open up availability at the last minute if OC gets downshifted into Yellow as we approach opening day or if it happens shortly thereafter.

It also makes me think they may wait until the last possible minute to offer tickets for sale. I won't be too surprised if they don't start ticket sales until a week or 2 out.

For those of you who have been speculating about making sure people who get reservations know they're restricted to CA residents, I just made reservations for next weekend for Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. You have to initial and click two separate times acknowledging that tickets are only for CA residents and you must be a CA resident to enter the park. They make it pretty obvious. Now, I am sure there are people who will say they had no idea, but I'm honestly not sure how they could make it more obvious. I'm guessing Disney will do the same.

I am going April 1st!

So I hope that space mountain, pirates and haunted mansion are 15 or less from the time you walk in until the end of the ride. I'm sure they're going to test that.

Interesting note from the website is that they are allowing walk up ticket sales. I think originally I they were saying online sales only?

No indoor queues allowed either, I imagine that 15 mins starts when you just enter the building? Yikes.

And guests have to be in a designated area to eat or drink? What does that mean? So you can't just get a pretzel and find a corner somewhere to eat it- you have to group together with other people to do it in a 'designated spot'?

No lessening up on the out of state visitors either from this. My speculation is they will be allowed when that rumored green tier comes.

Not surprising but demoralizing. At least OC is moving quick through the tiers! Praying for November or I'll be pretty heartbroken.

Demoralizing is a good word for it. I am thinking the same at this point. I was hoping Legoland was on to something when their social media was saying perhaps out-of-state visitors could come in Orange Tier. I still hope vaccination rate will help update these restrictions but I feel I am grasping at straws at this point.

One party per ride vehicle too. So things like Pirates and Small World are gonna have loooooong lines even at reduced capacity.

just reread it and it says “one household per vehicle” different households 6 feet apart. So if you go with friends/family you don’t live with, you shouldn’t be riding together. These poor CMs

These poor CMs is right. I wonder how much that's enforced tho- they'll probably board parties together without asking if they live together or not. That'd be ridiculous if they had to ask.

I totally agree with you.... but if they don’t ask, how is it any different than not asking people where they live? Obviously, household is a lot easier for people to lie about, which I am not advocating! But a rule is a rule and it was said here many times that if they don’t ask for proof of residency, they could get shut down.
