Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I’m assuming it’s allowed. It’s been open for a few weeks and it’s advertised. I didn’t know if there was some sort of technicality that allows them to operate but doesn’t allow theme parks to operate. I’m wondering if they fall under outdoor entertainment All of these rules and guidelines confuse me honestly lol

We have a local restaurant advertising they are open with indoor seating. Until yesterday, we were purple. Every other restaurant in the area is abiding by the guidelines except this one. And people are flocking there. No masks, not following any rules. And it seems 2 kitchen staff have had COVID. Yes, they have been fined $60k, but they are petitioning to have the fines removed. And our mayor? They need to be allowed to operate cause they are losing money (not like every other restaurant isn't) and its his favorite restaurant. (Yes, he has been photographed by the paper eating inside.)

You can do all that stuff as long as you’re following the distancing guidelines. There have been guidelines for Family Fun centers or whatever since July: https://files.covid19.ca.gov/pdf/guidance-family-entertainment.pdf

That is also happening here in the Bay Area. Lemos Farm that is a small "farm theme park" is currently open with a train ride, car ride, hay ride, bouncy houses, bouncy slide and pony rides!

I think the only difference is that a park like Disneyland is a large tourist destination that will bring in new people from around the state and USA. Local mini theme parks are only going to be attended by locals.

Random question that is off topic, but on topic. This weekend I went to Live oak canyon farm. They had fair-type rides, pony rides, and their train running. Does anyone know how they are able to operate, but say a typical fair, or small theme park with rides can’t? Its in San Bernardino county which is purple...

Honestly the only difference I can see is just the potential for more out of state people at Disneyland. Lemos Farm was actually fairly crowded and there were not always clear markers for social distancing. Not everyone was wearing a mask, and so on. I think rules would be better enforced at Disneyland.

Where was all this movement and speed 2 weeks ago.... People would have laid off of hate and comments if we saw this kind of production in talks 2 weeks ago.

I think it's really interesting how last week we were told "no hurry" and now this week we find out they have already visited WDW and are visiting Disneyland and Universal this week. I don't think this is a coincidence. If they are not in a "hurry" why are they doing things that make it look like they are? Maybe lots of late night meetings going on to get this going. I wonder also if also and this is a big IF they may reopen with some sort of "blessing" from the governor sooner than we think? It's awfully weird to me how things are moving at a faster pace now. I wouldn't put anything past you know who. He has made some pretty kind of interesting decisions in the last few months. Maybe, we will get an announcement "sooner" than we think? I'm hoping anyway.

So this is kind of the perfect storm if this is all true, coming to terms with the unions means they can open in less than the 4-6 weeks if I am interpreting all of the info online. And if they do get guidelines you can bet Disney will release a planned opening date ASAP.

The state officials visiting both the FL and CA parks makes me think that opening in time for the holidays is back on the table. If the 'secret shopper' visits in FL had gone badly I don't think they would have announced having done them.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Disney may be "encouraging" the governor to let them reopen for the holidays. It would be great for Disney and it would make the governor "look good".

I totally agree. We are in the same boat. Thanksgiving week. If he was so not into reopening right now, why would he be announcing about the visits etc.? He may have been getting an earful from many people and finally having to give in. I think he knows full well that Disney can reopen very safely and keep the park and us safe. OPEN, OPEN, OPEN.

Yes. Isn't he always talking about listening to the experts and such? If he started not listening to them now, those experts might not like that too much. My thought is he may have been upset over something earlier (hence: "in no hurry") and he has basically gotten over it and is moving on with getting things going on reopening finally. I hope.

I'm likely still going. My friends and I have reservations at DLH (in case the parks reopen so we can all get in) and Grand Legacy if they don't open, in which cas we go down and back on a $39 flight (from Sacramento), split a $79 room, dress up and enjoy the pop-up boutique in DTD. Fairly inexpensive getaway and a fun time with friends.
