Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

So if they already sent a team that would make sense. See what they are doing before an announcement is made and they have a chance to improve the parks. That's something I would totally do.

But, I hope they also take the time to talk to parks officials and cast members about the openings, instead of only going off visuals.

We have a trip for the week of thanksgiving, I don't think we have a shot at this point, but if we can reschedule for Christmas I think the chances are far better.
Yeah, definitely secret shopper style. Though it’s worrisome because from photos and reports, last week was not the best in terms of crowds and safety management.

I worry about this too because it was October break for a lot of people and it looked crowded. But, I had a friend there and she said she felt safe.

Let's hope the focus was to see the measures taken by WDW to restrict the transmission vs crowd control. Crowds can be controlled fairly easily by reducing capacity and other tactics. Seems like good news to those of us in the reopening camp.

If not, they may have to open the entrance from Rivers of America. It's about time.
There's an entrance to the HM at Rivers of America? I'm trying to picture that but am having a hard time

I've never heard of this. I tried a quick google search and this is all I came up with, but it's really fascinating that this was considered and begun! It's from Wiki Fandom:

Unused
In the 1990s, a proposed mega-theme for New Orleans Square would have had catacombs going underneath of the Rivers of America in-order to connect to Tom Sawyer's Island. This would have been accessed via the crypt of Jean Lafitte within the cemetery of the Haunted Mansion. Remnants of this unused installation can still be found throughout Tom Sawyer's Island and New Orleans Square.

You can't hide warts;

It's about both the effort of Disney and ability to enforce rules and measures. It's the combination of those.

From the eyes of state level, I would be more interested in the safety first feel when there is adequate enforcement of policies. Do they work? Does it FEEL safe, and IS it safe when measures are applied correctly.

The latter of effort by Disney is more operations but still very important. More for Disney perception than State as Disney's reputation has a lot more riding on it than other theme parks are state regulators. We've always loved Disney for it paying attention to safety, cleanliness, and the manicured state of its theme parks.

He is currently discussing Halloween/Small Gathering recommendations right now, then same thing in spanish. After that he will do tiers

Just went on the tier website and saw that my county (Alameda) moved to orange! Wow. Super happy about that. I would have guessed we would be among the last Bay Area counties to move to orange, but we are among three: Santa Clara, SF and us. Kern county moved to red, and that was all I noticed on the map.

Theme park question at 28:12 time mark (Putting here for replay)

"Theme Park guidance will come out when we are ready, based on data, and visits to areas and ongoing dialogue"

At 45:05 another Theme Park Question on visiting the theme parks in Florida.

He did confirm they sent people to Florida to see the parks running. They have not done visits to California parks, but he did say they were upcoming.

That sounds awesome! I had never heard of that either.

Also in the sadness department I just saw this post with a response from Chapek....

Oof, this is all pretty grim. I do enjoy Chapek’s clarity on what is really going on though. This is definitely not a negotiation and hasn’t been from the beginning.

Without diving into any kind of off topic covid arena- does population size ever come into account when we talk cases? I mean, California is huge... so to say it’s second worse in the country- is size factored in to that too? The positivity rate we call that right?

I think it's come into the discussion with L.A. County's numbers being so high. And even though our numbers have come down, they haven't come down enough. (I noticed that the 3 counties in CA which are in the yellow tier aren't that densely populated -- which must be a factor in their low case count.) L.A.'s high population count certainly plays into why we seem to be destined for permanent purple tier status. Sigh...
