Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I completely missed everything in Toon Town last December, because I kept refreshing for HMH FPs. I literally rode 32 times in four days. I had intended on walking through Toon, but just never made it... :rotfl:

We rode it so many times. It was ridiculous. And then they left it up even longer and we went in early January and rode it even more. I don’t think we rode 32 times in four days. That’s impressive. 🙌

I’m sure they’ll decorate the park, but I wonder if they skip the haunted mansion overlay (assuming the refurb there is even finished this year.)
My guess is IF they are open for the holiday's they will decorate but it will be scaled down. I do not think they will do the holiday overlays though.

Regular haunted mansion is better than holiday haunted mansion.
Change my mind.
100% agree. Of course, I've never seen Nightmare Before Christmas so that might be part of the issue, but I miss the hitchhiking ghosts SO MUCH in the Holiday version. It's the one good thing about rescheduling - we may end up going sometime other than when the overlay is on!

I've pretty much given up on speculating. Nothing seems to be an indicator, everything seems to be at a stand still...oof.

Yup, this is where I’m at. Back in May it was unimaginable to think it wouldn’t be open for the summer and now here we are.... back in July it was unimaginable to think it might not open at all in 2020 but now it feels like anything could happen.

Being at a stand still IS the indicator. Look at the state as a whole. While things are improving, it is still a mess. My area of Northern California is rapidly growing with 14 day per 100k over 200. We are basically in modified Stage 2 and will be for awhile longer. Theme Parks are to be later stage 3.

I should have been more clear. I was referring more to the things that, early on, people were taking as little hints of opening, like activity in the parks, or updates to the app. You're right though, the stand still is because the metrics haven't been met consistently. (As an aside, is the state reporting system fixed yet? The data chart is still blank so I'm assuming not).

I think the other thing that makes it weird is that we've all adapted, so now the current mode feels normal. I even find myself thinking "why is X not open? Everything is normal." I have to remind myself that NO, it's not the normal we used to have, I've just adjusted.

ETA - don't get me wrong, I am absolutely not advocating for anything to open. I've just come to realize that there are far too many variables for me to try to speculate - including my own human condition of becoming used to whatever currently is going on, to a point where the severity of the situation can be downplayed in my mind.

Okay. I never looked at what the Disney was doing with the parks as a sign of opening. They are of course doing a lot of stuff in the parks to prepare for opening but in the end it is the State the makes the decision. I only looked to the state for clues.

As for the state reporting. Yes it is fixed and they are working through the data and applying to the correct dates so there is more accurate data. My understanding they are supposed to be updating the chart on Monday (if I understand what my county health officer said yesterday).

I adore HMH. I feel like the overlay is SO well done and I’m always astonished at how much they change/add in such a short amount of time. We have gone every year at Xmas time for 12 years. So the HMH holds a special place on our hearts.

Agree with all of the above! I am not a fan of Nightmare Before Christmas so HMH does nothing for me, but I have been wondering if DLR is open for the holidays will the refurb be done to open up HM at all, holiday overlay or not. Do we know if any work is being done on it (or on Snow White or KA Carrousel) during the closure?

Regarding the WDW COVID testing site:

Interesting that it appears to be open to anyone who makes an appointment. There is a CM only lane.

-Orange county stuck in mild reverse this week, -- today 117 per 100,000 -- Day 0 of 3.
-San Diego county is making good progress Day 4 of under 100,000. This is going to be litmus to see what Gov is going to do Monday on watchlist status now with the data fixed.

-If Gov really doesn't do anything, I do hope DLR will move forward with something in-between like a Calico Taste of Knotts / Food+Wine taste.

It’s a public testing site fully funded by the government. (Sounds like the “cost” for using Disney property is a dedicated line for their employees.)

@theluckyrabbit will never forgive us if we delve into a half a dozen pages on which is better here 🤣
