Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

So since we are speculating, does anyone think there is a chance that DL will keep closed any of the major elements of SWGE even after the park reopens? Here, I'm thinking specifically of MF:SR, ROTR, Savi's, Oga's, Droid Depot, and Dok Ondars. I know no one is guaranteed a ride/reservation even if it's open, but is there any thought that they might not, for example, open ROTR at all?

I've been thinking about this. For instance, with MR:SR, they're going to have to wipe down everything inside after each ride. And on ROTR, how do you social distance people in the transport? But then again, I never thought I could teach acting in distance learning and I did, so I truly believe where there's a will, there's a way. Xs on the floor of the transport, Xs where you line up to wait for the transport, etc. I think it *can* be done with some imagination and creativity, but the question is if it will be done.

I think that's going to be true of all rides. Think of Pirates or Splash, for example. I honestly doubt they are going to clean each boat after each ride. More likely, it will be hand sanitizer for all before you get on, wear your mask, and cross your fingers. The only difference I see with SWGE is the sheer crush of people who will still want to visit those attractions, and managing demand for ROTR is going to be a LOT different than Pirates/Splash/pick your attraction here.

This is what I was thinking. I know I plan on packing plenty of my own stuff to wipe stuff down as well.

The page still looks like this, with no further explanation. Hmmm...
@midnight star: Agree and wonder if these 2 passes will become like the SoCal AP -- renewals only, and maybe replaced by a new pass structure?
I'm gonna cry if no SoCal Select pass becomes permanent. We each have 5 day tickets we were gonna upgrade to that SoCal AP type that was still available at the end of the trip for our fam.

I can't see DLR getting rid of a "weekday only" pass option. As crowded as DLR got pre-COVID, there was still a lot of slack on the weekdays that they needed to incentivize weekday attendance to help drive additional revenue. I can see it being suspended until we return to full-ish capacity, though.

On a side note, I still remember when that SoCal Select pass was $99 ($135 today accounting for inflation).

I saw a video on youtube of Hong Kong DL and they showed Star Tours with certain seats totally blocked off so guests could not sit there.

The "crush of people" thing is interesting, because of the limited capacity of the park. I wonder how that will affect it.

I know that at some of the theme parks they are wiping down every ride seat, etc. But you're right that with some rides that's going to be more difficult than others. However, I feel like wiping down the seats of the boats in Pirates or each ship in Peter Pan's would be easier/faster than wiping down other rides, like Buzz or the tea cups.

We also plan on taking in our own wipes and our own hand sanitizer. I haven't been to SWGE yet, but from the pictures and videos I've seen of the two rides there, there's a LOT to touch and spread your germs on. That might be when gloves come into play for me, to be honest. Put a pair on for the ride, then take them off and throw away when exiting. I wouldn't do it for every attraction, but there are some that seem like they'll be too hard to clean properly.

And now I'm thinking of all the attractions and how the adjustments that will have to be made. The train, the carousel, Jungle Cruise...

Gothic Rosie reported this. For WDW resort dining will only be for those with hotel reservations. I wonder if they would do this for DL 🤔 it could minimize the amount of people who come into the hotels. View attachment 501546
No and that's not what WDW is doing. This is only for reservations right now to give those with WDW resort bookings first chance at ADRs, which is something WDW said they would do when the cancelled everyone's ADRs. Reservations will open to the general public as per the WDW website

Planning to dine at a table-service restaurant in a Disney Resort hotel? A confirmed dining reservation is required for day Guests (those not staying overnight) and is highly recommended for Guests staying overnight at a Disney Resort hotel

One thing to keep an eye out for is menu cuts. If you love certain food items, you'll want to read all menus before you go. WDW took a vicious approach to slicing back their menus at all the places they are opening at the hotels for now, Disney Food Blog has a write up for those interested and there is much discussion on the WDW rumor thread so I won't go into specifics but it was bad. I hope DLR is not as bad, namely because our menus aren't that extensive in the first place(!) but it's something to watch. (No, it's not just because some items are hard to get, they cut kids grilled cheese at one location for heavens sake!)

Ok that's good to hear!

I did not even think of that. I feel like the kid options are really lacking already at DLR...this will be interesting to see for sure. 🤔

I wonder -- or speculate ;-) -- if we'll be told in advance when reservations will be available or if they'll simply spring it on us by making them available via the app/site.

I remember when a Premium AP was $199. In 2001.

That's my feeling too. However, it would also be fun to stumble upon a reservation link without advance notice. It would be like finding a golden ticket (which is very on-brand for me ;-)).
I would hope to get some sort of warning, but do you want the site/app to crash because everyone is trying to get on it all at the same time when it does go live? I see a "Stitch ate the page" website page in our future.

Do you guys think that if we make a reservation we will be able to cancel or change it? I want to go on 7/17 but not sure if DH will go so I would need to find a buddy. Not that I will get a 7/17 reservation but just wondering how flexible they will be with reserving then changing.

I think at Oga’s we’d definitely see a big change in how seating/standing is handled. Since they’re opening with limited capacity, it does make things like that easier to juggle.

I bet we’ll see big changes to the Droid Depot they won’t want people touching everything so much they way it was before. I would imagine Savi’s would be easier, it was designed to be a small experience anyways and that’s a big money maker for them.

For the rides, I will lose my mind if they’re not open haha! That would be the clincher that would make me reschedule- we haven’t ridden ROTR yet and I’m a diehard fan. Been twice to the land at least but missed the opening of ROTR by just a few weeks. I’m hoping rides will be a priority- they’re already getting enough negative press for no fireworks/shows. I could just see those negative headlines now ‘Disneyland opens with no Star Wars land!’ I’d imagine it’d be as simple as hand sanitizer for guests before they ride and spacing in the ROTR attraction?
