Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I'm going to go ahead and cast my vote in the "no park hopping availability" bucket. Even if the parks are close and there are no transportation difficulties as in WDW, it would make it much more difficult for DL to track and cap attendance. They could count each person with a park hopper toward the capacity limits at both parks, but then that deprives Disney of the opportunity to admit (and generate revenue from) another person who could have taken the spot at the park not then being visited by the park hopper. I suppose they also could just count guests and deny entry once the cap has been reached, but suppose all the park hoppers choose DL at the same time and then someone with a DL-only ticket shows up at their entry time and can't get in.

Ultimately, it's much simpler for Disney to say there can be 20,000 people in DL and 7,000 people in DCA (I made those numbers up), and allow 27,000 people to make a reservation for one park or the other.

I am hoping with no WOC, that all the pixar pier attractions stay open and that will give us more to do. Last time we were there all day, we were done by the evening. We bought one park per day tickets to save a bit of money....

I agree that DCA isn't a full day park, especially without WOC (also, I am [probably futilely] holding out hope that they do WOC for just dessert party because this was going to be my chance to see it!). We were done by 5 when we were there - and actually before that, because the adults just sat on a bench for an hour or so while the kids played in Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. I was so looking forward to being able to start in DCA, do the rides I care about, and then head over to DLR, but I've done one park per day before, I can do it again!

I haven’t been around but have a friend at Shanghai Disneyland and wanted to point out that according to her, they don’t sanitize anything on the rides between guests; there are sanitizer machines at the exit of each ride. Also, many of their shows and their whole parade were back shortly after reopening. I just noticed those things being discussed in the last few pages...

Not sure if we’re going to try to go sometime in July or not - will depend on how reservations work, what the virus numbers in OC look like, etc. Leaning towards trying to get a reservation and just stick to outside attractions, which seem like a safer bet than anything indoors. Curious to see how they’re going to handle reservations/APs. Curious how they’re going to handle everything, actually! Lots of CM friends online are complaining that opening is too soon but also posting pictures from inside restaurants and at parties, so kind of some mixed messaging there... I hope things are able to open in a way that’s both safe and still magical. Or magical-ish.

I would not take a “first trip” to Disneyland during this weird time, personally, for a whole variety of reasons. Will be interesting to see how it all goes.

This will be my first trip to DL and I’m hoping that it dawns on them that people missed May the 4th and maybe we get the Hyperspace Mountain overlay when the park opens back up too.

DL regulars - do you like the original version or the Star Wars overlay better? The ride itself already looks like it is better than the version at WDW.

This popped up on my Disneyland app (Android) today on the screen where you view your AP with barcode. Not sure why since I have a Sig AP. I wonder what it means...

ETA: The "Learn More" takes you to the regular DL website with closure updates.

I enjoy both!! I love hearing “it’s a trap” and hearing all the Star Wars sounds effects. But I also love it the original way too. Either way it’s fun and my favorite attraction! You’ll love it!

They’re both good but I like the original better. It is definitely better than the WDW version!!

Nice to see you on here again! ☺️

Maybe I’m just being too cavalier but I think sanitizing after each ride is sufficient. As long as you don’t touch your face during the ride (don’t let your kids either) and sanitize when you get off- it’s no different than grabbing a cart at the grocery store, right? Luckily a lot of the research that’s come out recently shows surface transmission is much, much lower risk. I could be wrong but they still haven’t seen a specific case resulting from it yet? But then how in the world would you pinpoint that anyways? 🤷‍♀️

I should go read more about Shanghai- I didn’t realize they brought entertainment back already.

I was even thinking if you sanitize at the start of the queue and after you get off the ride. Maybe even have it available for people when you get ready to board the ride.
I’m sure people are going to be carrying sanitizer and wipes themselves too.

We will be those people sanitizing the ride ourselves, probably, but mostly just like handlebars and stuff.

I did see that Shanghai has some shows and things back. They put boxes on the ground and a party/family can stand inside the box. The boxes are spaced for social distancing.ShanghaiDisneylandAP-PhotoSam-McNeil.jpg

Sanitizing rides is one thing I’m not doing. At some point I have to enjoy my trip and wiping down every ride would increase my stress levels to the point I wouldn’t travel. Everything is going to be cleaner than it has ever been + I believe those saying this is mainly a respiratory thing so I’ve toned down my surface worries.

HOWEVER- I wonder if Disney is accounting for operating slower? If even just one person every few rounds tries to wipe down their seat and area it’s going to delay the running of the attraction. And I really don’t feel like they can yell at that person to get in their seat as they normally would, that would end poorly 🤣 ...but it does mean rides will have to operate at a lower car capacity to account for longer loading times (I’m not picking on or judging you @mouschievous , LOVE the name btw, I’ve seen multiple people mention sanitizing ride vehicles before getting in them so I think it will be a thing we see).
