Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

We only stayed there once (FIL paid for the accommodations), but in my opinion, you are REQUIRED to ride Grizzly River Run, get soaked and then either go jump in the pool or back to your room to change, simply because you can! :-)
LOL! I was just thinking about that this morning! My kids already love GRR! Hopefully the pools are open!

Yes, we had already splurged big time for the DLH, so being moved over to the Grand is something I never imagined would happen. We stayed there once way back in 2004....so it has been awhile! ;)

I hope not! However, WDW is opening under severely limited hours (with no EMH which admittedly sucks there compared to DLR is it just creates a crush of people) and if we see that at DLR by the time you get back from an afternoon break the park could be closed.

Personally I hope they don’t skip EMH or skimp out in park hours at DLR. I do much better with cool mornings and a break from the heat in the nighttime air.
I hope they don't skimp out on hours too. It will make me feel like we are getting way less hours for the amount of money we paid for our tickets. Which will be a bummer.

I am really, really hoping that since Disneyland is much smaller on scale than WDW and they don't have to worry about the constraints of transportation that our park hours won't be affected in the way theirs are. I think it's a good sign park hopping (based on that GAT convo I posted above) will likely be allowed which shows things will be different based on park logistics. But who knows!

I'm glad I pushed my trip back until end of September because I'm hoping if park hours are shortened or certain experiences are unavailable (I'm more worried about rides- the no parades/fireworks is a given for awhile I think...) that it might resume by the time we go..

I am hoping that too! Doesn't WDW parks usually close earlier than DLR typically does? I swear I heard that somewhere but I may be incorrect.

Good to know! We plan on going in a couple years. I obviously need to do a lot more research!
Just for fun - these were the hours March 1st. Seriously my teen always loves the 9:00am start when we go :-)
MK: 9:00
Epcot 9:00
Hollywood Studios: 8:00 early entry
AK: 9:00

Yes, WDW operates meaningfully shorter hours than DLR, especially on weekends.
And WDW always opens later than Disneyland. It's weird when you go on vacation there and don't have to wake up early for a 7:00am early entry!

That's great, but I've been known to wake up at 7pm from naps and am strolling into the parks by 8pm...I might need to reevaluate going to Florida as that's a major life change for me 😂

I think the last time I had a DLR park close on me at 8pm was 2007 in September before Halloween became a 6-8 week blowout celebration and they struggled to get people through the turnstiles after summer ended.

P.S. I mentioned this in the DVC forum, but does anyone else read @CastAStone's post in the voice of Ving Rhames? That's Mr. Bubbles to you!

I don’t remember the cutoff date for the 35% off rebooking offer but it was right near the beg of Oct. Did you try end of Sept by chance?
Nah, the DLH isn't taking bookings prior to 9/30, and that's where we want to stay. I wasn't thrilled enough with Paradise Pier for the price tag the only time we've stayed, and if I'm going to stay at the Grand I'll be in the Villa side. I occasionally like to stay at the DLH because the pools and atmosphere to me are worth the price, especially for summer trips when we like to spend most of the day sipping cocktails and going down the monorail slide. Its been about 5 years since we've stayed there ... maybe 2022 I'll try again.

Yesssss! This is a perfect requirement of staying at the GCH!
I have this rule of thumb for any of my nieces and nephews that come with me when we stay in the VGC, they must go on GRR with me at least once per trip, rain or shine, middle of the day or late in the evening, then head back to the pool or room to throw your clothes in the dryer. When we picked up our DVC contract in '08, the ability to ride Grizzly was a major feature for me!

Our kids will be tennagers by the time we get to WDW so I am sure they will appreciate that! Plus the time difference from CA to FL, a later start will be welcome I am sure!

DL won’t be able to use the same system WDW is using: Resort + Tickets for onsite guests.

Resort Reservations don’t link to the DL app. DL’s process would probably be similar to Shanghai or HKDL’s emailed code process which will open up booking for park entrance.
Can you explain how that works, or point me to a thread to read about it? Thanks!

That was one thing I loved. Went to WDW in January. We took a red eye and landed in Orlando at 6am. We had time to take the bus to our hotel, change, take the another bus to the park, and arrived to Magic Kingdom only 20 minutes after it had opened.

The ‘code process’ is somewhere in this thread and the Reopening Thread. Disney emailed out a code to the poster who has an AP. That code opened the booking process.

The Rumors Mod has a WDW AP and when his reservation window opens, he’s texting me so I can check to see if my ‘ticket-only’ window is open. It probably won’t be open as WDW should be allowing reservation booking in phases.

I’ll report back on how much later my booking window opened compared to APs.

My concern there is that my reservation is through a 3rd party and I don't have a Disneyland confirmation number or confirmation email, just the 3rd party one. I'm not sure the email will get all the way to me.

WDW resorts use that 3rd party conf# to merge with an actual WDW # that links to MDX and their onsite reservation system.

DL will probably go off of their database of actual resort reservations which is what you hold. I wouldn’t worry. WDW is just different because all their various systems (Resort, tickets, dining, FPs) link to MDX accounts.
