Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I am still hopeful for a Thanksgiving trip, but that would require we get something this week....
Still waiting too. We may have to reschedule to week after Christmas. We have airline tickets that need using before the end of the year. Hoping one of the two dates will work for us. :)

Here is a youtube link if people don't want to use facebook! The title is California Wildfires and COVID update.... We will see how Q&A goes. Average has been 2-3 Disney questions a conference.

Honestly, it's not CA observing WDW and not liking what they see that worries me now about DL's reopening prospects. It's the fact that CA is doing so well while most of the rest of the country is currently on fire with Covid, and I fear that will make Newsom VERY reluctant to open up big theme parks that will attract larger numbers of people from all states. At this point I wouldnt be surprised if CA sticks to the zip code restrictions for entry guideline or no opening at all. I know there's been debate over the logic of that and I don't necessarily agree that it's a good reason for imposing said restrictions, but we are talking about Newsom/Ghaly here, who have been extremely cautious.

Ok at 31:08.... he said were trying to be stubborn based on data. That he knows some industries want guidelines like sports and theme parks. He said Dr. Ghaly will give an update tomorrow on numbers and what the numbers are. He also said guidelines will be different based on theme parks....

I will add video link when he is done.

Here is the clip

Theme park guidelines coming TOMORROW

(Will post a transcript when press conference over)

He said there would be an update on the guidelines tomorrow. He hopes that people recognize the health first data process....

So I will at this point say, based on the way he said it. I don't think they will let them open anytime soon. It almost looks like he is looking at the negatives and not the positives it will bring. We will see what Ghaly says tomorrow.

Wouldn't be surprised if small parks can open, but the big ones can't.

OR, it could be the other way around. Big parks can open because they are doing so much in the safety department. ACTUALLY, it would obviously be wonderful for the smaller parks to open as well. I meant maybe they would have to get up to the standards that Disney and Universal have to reopen. IF he say's small parks can open, but no bigger parks, I would think a lawsuit would be in the works. This "stuff" has gone on for too long now is my guess.

I am wondering if something gets leaked today. I would imagine that the theme parks would need to know these guidelines before them come out tomorrow. Wonder if one of the companies leeks something before the announcement can happen if they are unhappy with any of the requirements.

No Disney in Q&A, but he did confirm Theme Park Guidelines at the end!

Here is the clip of the ending

Based on the way it was phrased, after listening, I will say it didn’t sound hopeful. It seems that tomorrow will strictly be a “theme park guidance and update” day, with sports being released later this week. It just seemed like “just FYI, we are releasing guidelines tomorrow, but we are taking a science approach and looking at small theme parks separate from larger ones so be warned” 😫

My paranoid side: he will let the smaller theme parks open because they don’t draw as many visitors and are local-based anyway. He will make large parks wait :(

Positive side: maybe they will let the larger parks open but still with the restrictions. And as the counties move to lower tiers, the restrictions can slowly be lifted.

Unions Want Disneyland Reopened When County Hits Orange Tier
By Sebastian Tong
(Bloomberg) -- Unions at the Disneyland Resort say conditions are in place for the theme park to reopen safely when the county it is in moves into the Orange tier based on its Covid-19 test positivity and adjusted case rate.
Coalition of Resort Labor Unions says in a letter to California Governor Gavin Newsom that Disney’s planned safety measures and provision of personal safety equipment address its concerns
Coalition now believes “a path exists where Disneyland would be able to open safely when Orange County moves into the Orange tier”
Unions seek to meet with the governor’s taskforce

For those following the numbers, is it still possible that OC could move into orange by the end of the month?
